@@garychurch9237 no it because they did not give me what they were advertising, I came in expecting a fictional war film with a priority on seeing how this fictional world came to be, instead I get a War Journalist journy that follows a plot of trying to be neutral which can be done with any other real wars in the world. Such a waste of a fictional setting especially when you don't concentrate on building that world beyond just using it as just a background setting.

I'm confused as to why the description says that this is a made-for-TV film, because this was a pilot for an HBO series. It was cancelled on the grounds that such a show with race at the forefront (less than 6 years after Rodney King and the LA Riots) would likely legitimize actual racial hate crimes and actual racist dogma in the United States. Ya'll in the comments are proving it was the right call with what you're saying. In the words of the director Joe Dante, "we wanted to show the dark comedy of a Second American Civil War happening on accident, where _everyone_ was the greater fool." It was _not_ a "film that details the build-up to an ethnically-fueled civil war in an alternate future United States as a result of unsustainably excessive immigration, political self-interest, and ratings-pursuing news media," that'd be your If you seriously identify with ANYONE in the film, alt-left or alt-right, you are exactly the fool it was designed to make fun of. Another disappointment from HBO. Lots of Headliners of the Day, tongue & cheek to be sure. Though, it was totally predictable up until that "ridiculous" succession/secession " twist, which was beyond stupid in Plot twist.
Perhaps Jim Kalla also has a long-lost twin brother who might have been adopted out to a different family because he sounds a hell of a lot like the guy who says "This is CNN."
This is one of those movies where ebay is your best bet. I rented a physical disc from Netflix when they still had that service. I get why they dropped it, but it helped me find real gems.
What a brilliant piece of satirical and prophetic production. There was a time when Hollywood had a thing for making movies, showing stuff that some years later would come true. Now, our country is indeed being flooded with people from around the world, manufacturing jobs have been shipped out of the country to slave labor nations and our way of life, as a consequence of all, has indeed been destroyed, morals and traditions all gone out the window and English has become a foreign second class language in our own country. This was also a great role for Ron Pearlman since he didn't have to act because he is this kind of progressive liberal nut job in real life LOL :-))

Elizabeth Pena was one of my favorite actresses. So tragic she drank herself to death. I was sad about that.
