Match spoilers! In hindsight, Fishbone Quilling my hand away into ramp was indeed, NOT the move… 😅 Hope yall enjoy the Emerald Steel Showcase! -Jacob, the desecrated.
I think given my desperate position and the fact that we are friends led to Tyler “playing with his food” in this match and making some simple mistakes. Haha -Jacob
Loving the video format of these, thank you! Quick Question - When playing Ruby/Saph, what was the reason for not going all out on the mulligan round 1 to search for one jump ahead/hiram?
DEFINITELY should have sent back more. I’d argue that I was correct in keeping the Brawl and the DYB since they were ways to find answers on turn 1 and a way to deal with a possible early Diablo. Turns out, I didn’t find my OJA.. AND the early Diablo was found turns later AFTER I used Brawl on the Ursula for value. Unfortunate…😅
Jacob definitely had a great shot at winning game one, if he played his turn 4 correctly. You got a 4 card hand and 4 ink, you're in a pretty good position, but the one thing you don't want to do is to let them send you into topdeck mode by just one discard. You know Tyler doesn't have "Sudden Chill" in hand, since he would've sung it on his turrn 4 already, so without a board you don't have to worry about Ursula. Furthermore Tyler didn't play anything on his turn 4, strongly suggesting that he has a Beast or a Robn Hood in hand. So you 100% hard cast "How far I'll go" there, keeping Brawl + Iceblock in hand for the potential Beast/Robin Hood (and even Diablo in this case, although you don't keep it specifically for that since it could've only been a topdeck). Then you probably want to ink Sisu, to be in range of 6-8 ink next turn for your removal cards. You'd still have a hand of 3 (Bawl + Iceblock + the card you drew from "How far I'll go" aka Gramma Tala in this case) so you're safe from being in topdeck mode for at least one more turn and you have an answer in hand for every possible threat Tyler likely develops on his next turn. This turned out longer than I wanted lol, but it's such a crucial turn that could switch up the entire match completely, so I wanted to go into detail on it. Anyways the quality of your setup is the best I've seen on any Lorcana channel, so keep up the good content.
What an insightful comment, wow. I’ll be sure to go back and watch the video at the point you’re talking about, but from memory, you are correct. Using the Brawl there felt very low-value when I did it, and I was just too hungry to eliminate the chance of Ursula popping off. Didn’t help that he topped Diablo the moment I used it to further punish. lol I’ve learned a lot about this matchup since posting this video, and your points about reading the board and inferring the hand to dictate my plays make a lot of sense.
U can’t “forget to draw off beast”. Like draw for turn, u must draw for Beast. The trigger falls on both players (just like location lore gains) to remember
First time watching you guys, great video! I hate discard, when I play it, it never hits but when anyone else does, it hits every time. So if you want to win the champs, just bring me with you lol
Tala’s ability doesn’t actually say “draw”. Instead, you pick a card you look at and “add it to your hand”. It’s a small difference, but an important one. 😉
It can't draw off of cards like Be Our Guest either. Which is great for character heavy decks. You dig 4 deep and just put the card into your hand. Magic has been doing this for years. It's actually great to NOT have a card draw you cards sometimes, while still actually, but NOT technically, drawing you cards. 😂
Yeah, my mulligan decisions were based around ramping and Hiram, but in this matchup I really should have prioritized keeping my hand size maintained over early Fishbone. OJA would have been a keep for sure though.
Yeah, it’s a pretty free quest. These kinds of decisions can happen with the camera and lights on. Just that inherent desire to “keep it safe” even if there is no actual threat. Good catch.
Yeah, but playing them on camera comes with territory of our mistakes being documented for all eternity. Lol I made some serious errors in the mulligan choices and lines I played in these two games, which really cost me my chance to come back. I mainly play ⚪️🔵, so this was a dip into another playstyle for me. Tyler, however, has played ⚪️🟢 for most of set 4, so his familiarity probably shows. Either way, we appreciate you watching and commenting 😁 Hope you enjoy the future games too!
Thats why Stone Dragon is working better vs green/steel. Discard your charachter and then get it back later in ink. Due to fishbone quil you lost your own hand with no pulling power. Rather use the cards bucky will discard anyway to gain ink. It saves your hand and makes you play longer vs bucky.
T2 Game 1, why not quest with the 1/2 Diablo? QoH has fallen out of favor this set, it's basically free to quest into an empty Ruby Sapphire board until they can ink up to 5 for Maui.
Thanks for the heads up. I forgot I made some changes, and the list I pasted into the description was the most recent one. It should be fixed now. -Jacob
I made some poor decisions/had some bad luck in the alters and with the early Fishbone. But other than, the matchup just be like that sometimes 😔 My apologies, Jacob
Even if we misplay, we try to make it entertaining at least. Just hard to play perfectly with all the decks when recording so soon after the meta develops. Thanks for watching though!
@@ReadySetDraw_TCG yeah, that’s the feeling. I know the focus is on entertainment. I’m in the minority, I’d prefer quality game play instead but I know you guys are doing your best to grow and entertain.

You guys are going to be the new channel I watch! Now that PB is down and no one else is doing these effects!
The edits, sound and visual effects are amazing. Veeery entertaining.
That’s the goal! Thanks so much for letting us know!
Our animation editor, Dylan, does a fantastic job.
Great game play video. One of the best honestly
23:18. Why do you not draw cards if the effect of Hiram let him draw 2 cards?
I don’t know if you saw it, but I did actually draw 2 at the same time that he did when he played Hiram.
Great quality gameplay and commentary as usual guys, keep it up!
7:15 why only quest for 1 instead of two? I’m kindve confused on that rule maybe?
They sang a song, didn’t quest
@13:12 Why not quest with bucky going to 12 and having lethal on the board instead of trading? It didnt matter in the end, but it could have.

Wow, I appreciate the camera quality. What are you using?
We primarily use our phones 🙂
@@ReadySetDraw_TCG I need that phone! 😅
my man should've let ursula sing that sudden chill
fantastic video, thanks guys!
I'd love some graphics for card readability
Do you mind explaining a bit more what you mean? Something more than the card images coming in the screen when played?

Great video.
In game 1 did Tyler miss 2 triggers off Beast?
He did! Good catch!
Not like he needed the cards 😅
U can’t “forget to draw off beast”. Like draw for turn, u must draw for Beast. The trigger falls on both players (just like location lore gains) to remember
Tbh it’s relatable 🤣 I’ve missed so many beast or Diablo triggers when my hand is already huge and bord presence
That collector ouphe would be nice to stop that fishbone and pawpcicle
Thank you for catching the reference!!!

10:45 why can’t Diablo draw off of Grandma Tala?

Basically Ruby Sapphire without Hiram on early play would be a big problem
I think game 1 if I'm Jacob I send everything but the Develop Your Mind back and try to hit the Pawpsicle, the One Jump Ahead or both.
Yeah, my mulligan decisions were based around ramping and Hiram, but in this matchup I really should have prioritized keeping my hand size maintained over early Fishbone. OJA would have been a keep for sure though.
@@ReadySetDraw_TCG I wasn't trying to criticize your decision, just mentioning how I would have played it.
Ah, I didn’t take it as criticism. I was just agreeing with you in hindsight. 🫡
I think turn 2 no reason not to quest with Diablo right?
Yeah, it’s a pretty free quest. These kinds of decisions can happen with the camera and lights on. Just that inherent desire to “keep it safe” even if there is no actual threat. Good catch.

Yeah, that’s definitely the strategy that I’d lean into in the future. This match was a good learning experience for the lines NOT to take 😅
Let's see ruby Amythest gameplay 😁
T2 Game 1, why not quest with the 1/2 Diablo? QoH has fallen out of favor this set, it's basically free to quest into an empty Ruby Sapphire board until they can ink up to 5 for Maui.
For sure. Just gotta build the habit. Always subject to change depending on meta builds though.
Love the videos, but I always wonder why Tyler doesn’t quest early game when opponent has no rush characters. Get that early lore!
Definitely something he consistently does that could be improved. Always nice to get something clear to work on as well, so he will be!
Thanks 😁
Keeping Dime and Madusa isn’t the biz into discard
I agree with you, but unfortunately I drew the dime and Medusa after sending the cards back so nothing could be done about that 😞
Bro needs to remember to draw off Beast and Diablo
I know I do. Sometimes plans or movement within the beginning of a turn distracts me and I just end up missing it.
- Tyler
Bucky is the reason I’m not playing Ruby Sapphire this format 😂 it’s such a bad match up for us
The matchup doesn’t always go THIS poorly, but it’s one of those matchups that gets decided pretty early in each game. Gotta get better though 💪🏼
Jacob’s deck list isn’t accurate, he has great stone dragon but it isn’t in the list
Thanks for the heads up. I forgot I made some changes, and the list I pasted into the description was the most recent one. It should be fixed now.

Bruh did 1 of 3 Beast triggers. 🤦♂
As a ruby/sapphire main all I can say is I'm disappointed.
