Even if some of Jomboy's fans don't enjoy these breakdowns, the fact that Jomboy himself does is the gold.
dude could breakdown a sneaky fart at the grammys and i'd still be into it
Yeah I love when he cracks up and rewinds It's so good. Or pauses
@@gdehms honestly now I really want that
You do you Jomboy - it got you this far
It keeps things interesting. Jomboy has reached his audience by doing what he wants and what interests him. I hope he never gives into the noisy demands of entitled whiners.
I love the cricket breakdowns! Hope you keep them up even if they aren't as popular for the channel!
I still like football slightly more than Rugby because of the strategy aspect and more complexity, but Cricket is fucking dank and seems more fun than baseball tbh

@@James-rc6qq I mentioned another American sport along with it, pretty sure that was pretty obvious. I'm embracing world sports here chief, no need to be pedantic
I'm a local cricket commentator/presenter in the UAE & have been watching Jomboy's baseball/cricket breakdowns for ages, it is so awesome to see our UAE lads featured 🤣 even though it was a gut-wrenching loss 💔
The cricket content is top tier! Hopefully we get that World Juniors Gold Medal Game breakdown soon as well!
Jomboy beating the Copyright Violation allegations once again🙏🙏🙏
insane they don’t just let him use the clips to grow the sport in america…there is absolutely a baseball crossover audience to be tapped
@@5lanediver they kinda do. Mlb as an institution understands people like jomboy and like foolish baseball ect are all helping the game grow and find a new audience. However youtubes auto copyright detection will pick up clips from games to prevent you from just like ripping a whole game and uploading it. Foolish baseball has an episode where he talks about when hes editing it he might cut out a pitch or a swing or something like that so the algorithm doesn't trigger. But generally speaking mlb whats jomboy to keep doing what hes doing
@@trevormckay677 MLB absolutely is aware of Jomboy as well. Even announcers call him out for doing a breakdown. If he ever got hit by an auto from MLB they'd easily give it to him on appeal because they need him.
@@trevormckay677 i was speaking more about cricket than MLB, since jommy infamously had a cricket vid copy-write stricken
@@5lanediver Don't know why broadcasters get so uptight about it. You are correct, Jomboy could almost single-handedly get hundreds of thousands of Americans into cricket.
Lived in NZ for a few years and became a big cricket fan (yes, even test cricket!) Block out the haters Jomboy, keep the cricket breakdowns coming!
As an Aussie who plays and has grown up with cricket these videos are actually really good at explaining the basics of the game
As a jomboy baseball breakdown fan, I like watching these just as much.
I love cricket jomboy they’re some of my favorite breakdowns!!
Same!
Watching Americans get really into cricket is one of the funnest things in the world. Jomboy seems to instinctually get what's so great about it. And that passion is addictive to watch.
I watch these breakdowns cause Jimmy puts so much work and they are all amazing. Idc what the sport is, if a breakdown is posted I’m watching it
I'm probably just in a particular mood, but breakdowns like this really emphasize how much more similar we are to each other than different. These are the same emotions players feel in all sports across the world and is something that should truly bring us together.
Hell yeah I like how you focus on things that connect rather than things that divide! Keep up that way of thinking 🤙🏼

The accuracy to hit the wickets seems crazy! Instead of throwing to 1st, you throw to a couple toothpicks in the ground
Came here to say this! Seems pretty clutch to hit those - on the hop, and at an angle like that no less!
Ohhhh it's bloody tough lads. Especially when you factor in that you've got a bloke practically in armour with a bat trying to stop you from doing so. Catches and lbws are always a more likely form of dismissal. That's why it's so good when someone does get clean bowled. And if the stumps go flying out of the ground, then it's an a bonus.
You can sort of do something close to tagging where someone standing next to the wickets catches the ball and then hits the wickets. What's really funny is that it's not hitting the wickets themselves that makes an out, it's knocking the bails (the little horizontal bits on top) off, so there's very rare cases where the ball grazes or even goes right between two wickets but the bails stay on and it's not out.
It is hard, but no more so than throwing a strike. The ball is too big to fit between the stumps if the wicket is set up accurately.
Jack, I think you'd like this 70-metre direct hit :) ruclips.net/video/CPm14iYEOxE/видео.html
These cricket breakdowns just might get me into watching/playing cricket! Keep them coming!
I love these cricket breakdowns! I’ve never watched a cricket match in my life, but it’s fascinating! And the fact that Jimmy likes it so much makes me interested!
Who doesn't like these breakdowns? I've learned so much about this sport because of you guys! I love it. Next time don't spoil the ending with the title though. Lets GOOOOO!
With baseball season in full swing i thought probably won't be seeing any cricket breakdown till November but still managed to drop this gem 👍would love to see some warehouse cricket games as well
Warehouse cricket is already a thing, we call it (funnily enough) indoor cricket. (it is a thing !)
@@supermario200 i know exactly what indoor cricket is but in this context i was referring to jomboy media playing cricket in one of his other channels by the name of "warehouse games" where the whole jomboy crew plays different versions of baseball games like whiffleball and other stuff if ur into baseball u should check that out as well
@@vrush2668 yep cool gotcha. Wasn't sure if indoor cricket was really a known thing outside the main cricketing nations.
Thank you for fixing the copyright bullshit.
I'm a fan of having some cricket breakdowns in the mix. Do I know anything about cricket? No. Am I ever going to watch a full cricket match? Probably not. But it's fun to learn about another sport and see some crazy plays.
I love the cricket breakdowns. I learn more about the sport and their celebrations feel more genuine for some reason
Man I love the Cricket highlights almost more than baseball. It’s so much fun to see a different sport than what I am used to as an American. Explaining with baseball terms is great.
some of us love cricket! I got into the IPL because of your explainer. PLEASE keep covering cricket....
Who doesn't like cricket? Great game and love Jomboy is giving some coverage.
Cricket is only big in the Indian subcontinent outside that not so for example rugby is bigger than cricket in the other major cricket nations like NZ,Australia,South Africa,England even minor nations like Ireland,Scotland,Zimbabwe etc
@@Trajan2401 I don't think Rugby is bigger than cricket in Zimbabwe but soccer is. Zimbabwe is just better at cricket than soccer. Cricket is probably the #1 sport in Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda too. Might be # 1 in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana as well.
@@Trajan2401 Cricket is definitely bigger than rugby in Australia and England. Cricket would be the 2nd biggest sport in NZ and probably SA too.
@@Trajan2401 in NZ and probably SA Rugby is bigger but in Australia and England, not really.
Cricket scoring is something you'd love Jimmy. For example, the reason it's called a dot ball is because the people who keep the score in Cricket are called the Scorers and they have what looks like an excel spreadsheet but it's a bound book that's hand written. It's laid out in a very specific way where you note down the activity for every ball. Wicket is denoted by a W, and wide is WD. And if nothing happens, a dot - hence dot ball.
Thanks for the info -- pretty sure Jimmy knows all that, as IIRC he spent part of his youth in Australia and learned/played cricket there.
Interestingly, I always thought a wicket was denoted as X (and a Wide as W). I had wondered if it had changed... but it seems it's actually because it's different in Australia.
"I know my audience doesn't like the cricket coverage"
That's just wrong
100% of my cricket knowledge comes from your videos, please do more!
Love the cricket breakdowns! You'll see more moments like these in IPL, CPL and the world cup coming up in November
I absolutely love the cpl they were doing games in Miami when I was in high school and I wanted to drive down from South Carolina to watch it but my dad wouldn’t let me because he didn’t want me watching a “dirty English sport” (he’s from Ireland)
@@RugbyRyan but carabien cricket is dead it's been long time since I have seen full stands
@@RugbyRyan well that's because of the Irish and english history of course. But now it's more global than being an English sport. Look out for the world t20 wc in November. Going to be interesting.
@@AK-jl9hr ya it's because of the windies board not managing it's players.
Quick comparison for non-cricket people:
Force out: run out (breaking the wicket before the runner is "safe")
Catcher: wicket keeper
Pitcher: bowler
Batter: batsman in men's cricket
Base runner: non-striking batsman (or non-striker)
Infield: the "square" including the pitch where the ball is bowled and it's surrounds
Base: either end of the "pitch" - to be "safe" you or your bat need to be touching the ground behind the painted "crease" line at either end
Ground rule double (bounces out of play): 4 runs
Home run: 6 runs
Fly out: caught (out)
Bunt: "quick single"
Ball: wide (if the pitch/bowl is outside where the batter can realistically reach it) or no ball (if the pitcher/bowler oversteps the rubber/crease, pitches/bowls too high or the ball bounces more than twice)
Strike: dot ball (swing and miss) or bowled out (if it breaks the stumps)
Foul tip: no such thing as 360° is fair territory, but you can still be caught out by any fielder
Note that you can't have double plays as play stops if there is an out or the ball touches or lands beyond the rope.
An over is 6 balls and is like a baseball inning except that it ends after 6 legal deliveries and that a bowler can't bowl back-to-back overs (they are also generally limited to a maximum number of overs bowled).
An innings (yes, with an s at the end) is all of a teams at-bats back-to-back. They do not switch after x outs unless a team loses all 10. Most cricket is 1 innings per team except for "traditional" test, first-class or multi-day cricket where each team has 2 innings to set the highest aggregate runs score.
wish i could give you 5 thumbs up for taking the time to explain it to people. As a lifelong cricket fan i think the biggest thing holding it back is the confusion over the rules, what you have done there is simplify it for American audiences! Kudos! 🙂
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah bring back that hot cricket coverage! Love to see it, Jimmy! Such a fun sport (except tests, which are hell).
Also, it's "UAE". Saying "UE" is nonsense- maybe it was just mishearing the announcers' accents, which would be understandable, or maybe the announcers were just weird.

"I know my audience doesn't like cricket that much."
idk man, I've seen mostly positive reception on your cricket videos. Keep up the good shit! We need more cricket!
Personally, I’d love to see more breakdowns from all sports. I learned a lot about how cricket works from Jomboy’s explanation. Thanks 🍻
I would love a breakdown of how JBM beats copyright hits. I was able to watch the original post and now I'll watch and like this one too, for the algorithm!
Legally, he's perfectly in the clear. This is absolutely fair use (he's providing commentary over highlights, no one needs to "clear" that content to do so, ESPN and them play nice with the big boys because they can but they really could just do what Jomboy does if they really wanted to), this is news journalism and commentary. HOWEVER, we all know RUclips doesn't care about that, and companies can third party claim or copyright strike videos if they want to, and then Jomboy can either challenge those strikes or say "whatever, we release 10 videos a week on this channel, if one goes missing then one goes missing". My guess though is for some of it, like the MLB, maybe he HAS got permission?
@@ADoseofBuckley simply providing commentary over a video isn't enough to make it fair use. He's pretty lucky he won on this. It's different than his actual lip reading breakdowns where the center piece of the content is his own work
@@deusvult6920 Providing commentary over a video ABOUT the video is definitely enough, especially when it's just clips. If a news site grabs a video off RUclips to report on it, and shows clips of it (like the "making robot legs for a snake" video that CNN reported on), that's fair use. That's exactly what fair use is for: journalism, news, education, etc. You're correct, playing, say... MLB footage and then just talking over it, like having a chat about something completely unrelated? That would NOT be fair use.
@@ADoseofBuckley MLB don't really care, they're not out there manually putting strikes or claims on videos... it's mostly about tripping up the bots. Which if you're slowing down videos, replaying things, cutting bits out... easy enough to do.
Cricket copyright holders on the other hand...way more draconian.
Love it when you sprinkle in some Cricket. "Another twist in the tale!" Love the commentary.
I don’t really watch cricket, but watching Jomboy talk about a team from my country is nice to see.
They still are associate team they have still a long way to go to become a full member in cricket your from uae Or kuwait

Thank you for the cricket breakdown! I'll take one of these over a baseball breakdown 90% of the time and could go without any of the llws coverage.
I have lived in the UK for 16 years; this video has done more to help me understand cricket than all the thousands of pub conversations I've had over the years. Thank you. Please feel free to break down more cricket.
Your pub conversations will be all the richer now.
These have become my favorite breakdowns
Jomboy thank you so much my dude. As a lifelong cricket fan I feel validated.
I very much enjoy your cricket breakdowns. Just like I enjoy your baseball breakdowns without even watching baseball
Love these breakdowns, fuck everybody else that can't deal with some other culture's sport that they haven't known their entire lives smh
I love these breakdowns; I learn about another sport to gamble on
Only certain closed-minded baseball fanatics must be the ones whinging whenever Jomboy does cricket videos. I enjoy them. Yes, Test cricket can be a little dull sometimes but T20 is often more fun that a baseball game in terms of balls over the boundary I find. And thank you for saying "batsman" too.
I've been mostly ignorant about cricket, but even from just this video it's starting to make a bit of sense.
batsmas, but nowadays batter, multi-sex :)
@@DanLaneWowLookAtThisFancyURL Nah. It's too MLB for my liking. I'll always use batsmen in cricket.
North America could easily support a T20 cricket league. In Canada alone there are several million Indians/Pakistanis/West Indians and they take over the parks for games that last hours every day in the summer.
I've found myself interested in checking out cricket whenever I can; even a Test cricket on first glance kinda sounds like it would kinda be like a series between two teams in Baseball (especially playoff Series - i.e. WCS, LDS, LCS, World Series), and I've always enjoyed those whenever I can catch them as they happen
cricket breakdowns by Jomboy are amazing. love 'em

as a lifelong cricket fan who is a more recent convert to baseball, these breakdowns are just brilliant Jomboy! such a good way of explaining the rules to new viewers of the game! just like your baseball content which has helped me understand so many of the rules i didnt get fully just from watching the sport! you are a true teacher across borders! 🙂Thank you! ♥
I personally love the cricket content. As a lifelong American and Yankees fan I’ve always wanted to better understand cricket and get into watching the games. Your explanations using baseball terminology have been a big help to me. I got heavily into Rugby a few years ago and now I love watching Rugby games. Hoping to get to that point with cricket. But I’ve had a much harder time understanding all the rules of cricket than I did picking up the rules of Rugby. So your cricket explanations and content have really helped.
I explained cricket to my american aunty using baseball terms just because she'd understand them
Which type of rugby, out of interest? Union or league? Just cos I wonder if league being slightly more similar to American football would mean it'd be more popular with Americans, as well as it being generally faster paced. But then union is generally seen as the bigger of the two rugbies
Forget the cricket hate, I'm here for any Jomboy breakdown regardless of sport
Amazing video, I've never watched this sport in my life, I don't even know how to spell it, but you are very concise and articulate and you make it easy to understand what is going on. Thamk u for posting
Huge props to Jomboy for covering this - most mainstream cricket publications don't mention any teams out of the top few. Cricket has a real problem with trying to spread the sport to new countries and it's good to see some coverage
Thank you for the content. Real ones appreciate it and are not the ones that leave the unwarranted, harsh feedback. You and your team produce great content.

Cricket's version of a two-out rally in the bottom of the ninth. There's the same amount of drama and excitement as in American sports. Sport is sport. It's a shame cricket, and for that matter the Australian Football League(footy), don't get the love or exposure here in the states. Both great games to watch. Footy playoffs next week! Can't wait!
Been a while since the last cricket breakdown. Amazing that you covered this game . We want more.
I love cricket and I love breakdowns. More please.
I love these break downs Jomboy ! Keep it up !
If I’m right. If they lost their last wicket it wouldn’t have been them losing as the scores were tied. Depending on the format, and being a qualifier game this might have happened, a tie would result in a “super over”, think of it as extra innings or overtime, but you only get it once. It’s one over for both teams
Yeah that was my assumption too. If you only need one to win, that means you're tied.
Still not as good as winning in regulation when you have 3 balls and 2 outs to get one run.
Correct. Don't know the rules of this tournament, but amazed Jomboy picked it up.
A super over is both teams get one over to score as many runs as possible, that's used when both teams are playing more or less in T20. If this was pool play, net run rate is used to break ties (maybe for 20 overs, like ERA would be, but they also have to account for weather-shortened games. At least they were in the desert, so D/L didn't come into play)
@@patrickvolk7031 don’t forget that D/L is now called DLS. But yeah pool play uses different things. I remember when T20 started and every tie had a super over, then they just decided when it was a pool stage match they would just have Ties. I believe they had a bowl off at one stage
@@skull277 have to say i loved bowl offs personally! i know theyre silly really and not a game of cricket per se but it was always fun seeing the pressure on the bowlers like that! 😅

Just quickly though, with Kuwait needing one run to win, that means that the scores are tied. You incorrectly called that UAE would have won if Kuwait failed to get that run.
In Twenty20 cricket, tied games go to a tie breaker called a "Super Over" where each team face one over to separate the teams.
Not all tournaments have a Super Over. Most do, but some don't.
