  • I just sold my Lowrance Active Target module, so I needed to make up a new power cable for my Active Target 2. There is a major change how you make the power cable. The blue wire is now used, this is the synchronization wire. It is used to sync between multiple Active Target modules or the S3100 sonar module, and possibly to a HDS Pro unit. This will let the transducers to be coordinated to minimize noise that you may have seen on earlier versions.
This is a long detailed video where I not only show you the steps in making up the connections but also a bit of why it is done that way. And I did add a section on the end showing the final step for the cables. Hopefully you will learn from it and make your boating electronics experience better.

Informative as always. Only one exploitive in the whole video and it was a tame one 😂

Thanks. I obviously didn't catch that and don't even remember saying it. Oh well, I'll try better next time. 8^)

Sorry about the bad audio and video syncing on the labels section. I thought that I had it adjusted right but apparently I was still off. Thanks for watching!

With latest update .25 on AT2 and .26 on Pro 12 syncing between AT2 and Pro is not working. Don’t waste time to rewire wake up yellow wire on MFD to AT2 blue wire. Maybe because I am using separate power sources for MFD’s and AT2 module.

Yes, they do need to be on the same power source or at least share a common ground (but then you may introduce other unwanted electrical issues). And you also need to configure the Pro unit to supply a SYNC signal on the yellow wire. By default, the Pro does the wakeup signal. I have done a couple of installs with the sync setup and the customers have not seen the noise issues. One was a Pro/AT2 install. The other was a Pro/AT2/S3100 (w/fish reveal sidescan). Now that I have some time, I will be reconfiguring my boat with the sync on the bow (AT2) and console (S3100). Then I will be doing some extensive testing for noise comparison.

@@garrywoodruff960 You are absolutely correct! My issue was common ground.

Hi Kirk, I found a couple for you. 2 Live 12s (one with power cord, and one with 3-in-1 transducer. $3000 for both. They came off of one of John Cox's boats.
