back in the day, there were several places just before the bridge at 10:25 where you could drive down to the creek and spend the night. also several sections of the old coast highway south of crescent city and past the klamath river which have long since been closed. i'm so grateful for many amazing memories car camping through this enchanted area in my 1969 vw bus.

Beautiful, and even better if you watch at 50% speed, mute, and put on some music.

Just a bit too zippy on the gas and unnecessarily creating potential traffic collisions. Years ago,the pace in these areas was more considerate and not speed driven. Slow the F Down.

"Zippy," indeed! In order to actually appreciate and enjoy the visual beauty, I had to play the video at 50% speed. Even the reduced speed seemed a little too speedy. I can't imagine that the vehicle was traveling as fast as the video seemed to indicate? Beautiful area, though.

Just go there yourself and quit whining.

@@roncooper8666 first thing I thought of, not possible for me to feel at one with the trees at that pace. Turned it off, deeply disappointing.

It’s actually Jedediah Smith State and National Park. Stout was a family that donated land to the state. Stout Grove is a grove with a parking lot, and bathrooms.

Jedediah smith redwood state park and campground is off hwy 199. It starts at the end of elk valley rd and goes thru to 199.
Stout Grove is it's own park. It starts at the end of Holland Hill rd and goes thru to hwy199. I lived at the base of the hill since 68. You miss a lot driving thru. You need to park and walk the road. You'll get the smells, sounds and the berries along the road when in season.
