Indeed, many people don’t realize that we have an authentic hadith where Rasool Allah Muhammad (ﷺ) made du’aa for Abu Hurayrah (Radhiya Allah ‘Aanhu) to gain knowledge that is not forgotten, and the latter’s phenomenal memory actually was one of the miracles of Rasool Allah (ﷺ).
@@Mxne. : Indeed. There are also multiple authentic hadiths where the Sahhaba (RAA) testify to Abu Hurayrah’s (RAA) knowledge of hadith. Also, when all is said and done, there are only roughly 114 sahih musnad hadiths or so (I forgot the exact number) that are uniquely narrated through Abu Hurayrah (RAA). Over 95% of his hadiths are corroborated by other Sahhaba (RAA) who also heard them directly from Rasool Allah Muhammad (ﷺ). The reliability of Abu Hurayrah (RAA) in hadith is unquestionably solid, and for me personally, as a person who in my youth was (for a while) taken in by the lies and misrepresentations of the hadith rejectors (May Allah forgive me), I have absolutely no hesitation today whatsoever to accept the sahih musnad hadiths of Abu Hurayrah (RAA)-even if they are hadith ahhaad-and to consider them a binding part of the religion of Islam, binding upon me. Allah be my witness!

As Abu Hurairah narrated the most hadeeeth it makes sense that some of the enemies of Islam woukd try to degrade Abu Hurairah and his hadeeth. Indirectly harming Islam is their hope. Some try to attack hadeeth completely and wish for Muslims to completely dismiss all hadeeth. May Allah be pleased with Abu Hurairah and grant him the highest level in Jannah. Ameen. Shia are the only one throwing doubts about Abu Hureira RA. Did that affect you? They don't have single Authentic Hadith, so it makes sense for them to throw dirt and see what sticks.

There is a narration that states the prophet and the Muslims saw a man approaching from a far distance by himself, when they got close enough to be recognised it was Abuzarr al ghifari r.a. at which the prophet s.w.a.s said that abuzarr walks alone in this dunya. If you read his autobiography, then you can see that this was the case up until his how his funeral was, which was mentioned. Hence, it makes sense that we didn't get much hadith narrated from him r.a
both Bukhari & Muslim had set extremely strict rules & laws for the narrators & the statements of Hadith # therefore there is no need to investigate narrator Abu Huraira #

There’s a lot of information here, but unfortunately the arguments are somewhat weak. Firstly, the presenter keeps using Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah RA to to support the various arguments that abu hurairah was a reliable transmitter, good with memory, etc. This is somewhat of a circular argument. Secondly, he obfuscates the sheer number and nature of Hadith that Abu Hurairah narrated by focusing on the Hadith that scholars have deemed “authentic” and ignoring those which have been deemed “weak”. This completely misses the point and is again circular argumentation. For example If someone fabricates 3000 stories, and truthfully tells 100, then of course it will be the 100 that others corroborate; and likewise we would be foolish to say this person is a reliable narrator of events.

He restricts his analysis to sahih Hadith only, then does all his measurements of percentages based on that number. If anything, the numbers he presents are a reflection of the accuracy and skill of Bukhari and Muslim in getting the 600ish authentic Hadith out of the 3000-6000 that Abu Hurairah narrated.
A more important question is to ask: Is K'ab Al Ahbaar to be relied upon in interpreting the Quran ? How could a Yemini Jewish scholar who converted to Islam in the time of Umar RA, all of a sudden become an authority in Tafsir and whose opinions are still relied upon today? And why did scholars like Ali ibn Abu Talib RA reject him as an authority ?

His opinions fill our Tafseer literature and are still followed today ! Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA and Abu Thaar Al ghifaari RA believed he was not an authority and this is what the evidence would suggest. I make no claim to what was in his heart, but I outright reject his history, opinions and superstitions which crept into the mainstream understanding of the Quran. What is worrying is seeing interpretations which take from his sources. An example is the opinion that Nabi Suliman AS massacred his horses after missing asr salat. I will copy something I wrote a little while ago: A warning of the Prophet (ﷺ) that has reached us by tawatur ( mass transmission) is لاَ تَكْذِبُوا عَلَىَّ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَىَّ فَلْيَلِجِ النَّارَ The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not tell a lie against me for whoever lies against me then he will surely enter the Hell-fire." He also said: مَنْ يَقُلْ عَلَىَّ مَا لَمْ أَقُلْ فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ Whoever ascribes to me what I have not said then let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire." It is very interesting that this is one of the most authentic ahadith that has reached us. Is that a coincidence? Definitely not! The Prophet (ﷺ) is trying to explain the need to be extremely cautious what we attribute to the Prophet (ﷺ).

I think Sahih Bukhari makes it clear: Narrated Abu Huraira: "The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'The best alms is that which is given when one is rich, and a giving hand is better than a taking one, and you should start first to support your dependents.' A wife says, 'You should either provide me with food or divorce me.' A slave says, 'Give me food and enjoy my service." A son says, "Give me food; to whom do you leave me?" The people said, "O Abu Huraira! Did you hear that from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ?" He said, "No, it is from my own self." Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 5355
Tell the whole picture and don't accuse others before you verify .. His saying, may God be pleased with him: “No, this is from the bag of Abu Hurayrah” is meant at the end of the hadith, which is his saying: “The woman says: Either you feed me, or you divorce me…” etc. The evidence for that is that it was clearly stated by Imam Ahmad in his “Musnad” (10785), where he said: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ( خَيْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ مَا كَانَ عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى، وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ ) قَالَ: Abu Hurairah was asked what “who is you depending on?” He said: “Your wife, you say:“ Bed me or spend on me or divorce me, and I will say:
The point about the later Hanafi position that an ahad hadith cannot establish istihsan unless it the sahabah was a faqih could use some expanding on, as there are some other reasons that could raise the epistemic standard of the hadith such that it would be acceptable in going against qiyas -- namely being widely transmitted among the earlier generations (thus becoming a mashhur hadith).

All I can suggest is having the humility to study a text of Hanafi Usul with the ulema rather than dismissing one of the great Usuli traditions of Islam as being absurd.
It is so sad that people in the comments don't seem to have even watched the video, and if they did, did not watch with an open mind or didn't understand it at all.
Here's the bottom line; it is an absurd inhuman dichotomy to say that when someone is reliable and truthful, he is reliable and truthful all the time and everything he says must be accepted. And that if he lies or is dishonest or is untrustworthy, he is that all of the time and everything he says must be discarded. If that simple premise isn't understood the truth about, not just Abu Hurayra, but many narrators and sahaba, will never be seen let alone understood. Not to mention that sahaba narrated from others without mentioning the intermediaries, and Abu Hurayra is hugely guilty of that. And yes, when it comes to attributing things of immense import to the Messenger of God, you should strongly err on the side of caution. There is more than enough issues with Abu Hurayra for someone to justifiably throw all his narrations to the wind God's religion is not dependent on the narrations of Abu Hurayra nor anyone else

@Brother Anon He was accused of being a liar. Bottom line, he is rejected in Hadiths. So that stupid mantra needs to be laid to rest. Otherwise, if you accept the Qur'an from him you should accept his Hadiths. And the real reason his Hadiths are rejected and he was called a liar is because his narrations are very Shia. The part about the hanafi madhab and AH is really bad. It is as if the presenter has never spoken with a hanafi scholar. Really bad. Maybe next time u can invite an actual hanafi to explain this.
In the hanafi madhab we pay a LOT of attention to the status of the sahaba. It's a methodological principal in the madhab. It's not as the presenter superficially say kuffan-centric. This is close to insulting. And shows a lack of basic knowledge of the hanafi madhab.
The presenter should read up more on basic hanafi fiqh. 1. There is a difference of opinion among hanafi shuyuk. About whether Abu Huraira was a faqih or not. Some do and others don't. 2. The main point is. We say that he can't be compared to the leading faqihs of the sahaba at that time (Aisha, etc) 3. We prioritize the faqihs among the sahaba on the basis of competence. It's not black and white. Some fatawa/faqih are given precedence above others. That's where the discussion comes from. That's why you see hanafi shuyuk use Abu Huraira and at other times they don't. Context is king. It's actually disturbing how wrong the presenter is.
They are both Salafi, the Salafi manhaj has bad history with Hanafi Madhab, many of them believe it's simple a Madhab of innovations and Ra'y of Iraqis and Kufans and that it is astray from the hadith. There are also many books disparaging Abu Hanifa as incompetent.

Its incredible that you are using Abu Hurayra's own hadiths to defend him. Prophet Muhammad did not even know what was going to happen to him (see 46:9) how could be endorsing others to go to heaven? Only God will decide on judgement day who has earned the right to enter heaven. Follow the Quran as the Prophet did and serve God alone instead of serving man-made idols.
Some good points made but I’m not sure this removes the doubts about Abu Huraira (RA) & his narrations. He was only present in the last 3 years of the Prophet’s (PBUH) life. He himself admits he spent time with the Prophet (PBUH) primarily to get food & drink. He claims to narrate directly from the Prophet but his narrations also include accounts via others that are not made clear. Despite the 4 hour lecture the doubts remain as they have done over thousands of years. I personally prefer to stick with Mutawatir narrations than rely on the claims of one or two individuals so heavily. It’s not necessary.
AH was a last minute companion and was also whipped by the 2nd Caliph for fabrications For a man who appears so late on the scene and spends v little time with the blessed messenger It is suspiciously amazing how many narrations he quotes
None of the Hadith narrators are 100% reliable, Abu Huraira may be the worst of them all. Many Hadith contradict themes in the Quran e.g. No compulsion in religion from Quran, and Kill the apostate from Hadith. The best argument is presented by the Quran: Allahu nazzala ahsana alHadithi... [Quran chp 39 ver 23]. fabiayyi Hadithin badahu yuminuna. [Quran chp 77 ver 50].
So, Abu Hurayrah spent his life from age 26yrs-30yrs or so with the Prophet in medina and surrounded by other Companions in Masjid Nabawi, and then lived another 50 or so years after the Prophet had died and he himself was around 80yrs of age. Indeed young brains come with sharp memory, and immersion and dedication are wonderful talents, and he had many years to learn from others and teach others after the Prophets death.

Quran is the only truth that can be relied upon. That is why Prophet Muhammad will say on the day of judgement, "My Lord, my people took this Quran as a thing forsaken" (25:30)

Uthman has a much more closer place to Prophet Muhammad than him, Uthman is the third greatest person after the Prophets with the agreement of the Sahaba even greater than Ali.
Abu Dharr (ra) didn't get along with people. He was ascetic and openly criticized people. He was a good man and a blessed companion but Uthman (ra) was running a state and needed to ensure social harmony.

Indeed, many people don’t realize that we have an authentic hadith where Rasool Allah Muhammad (ﷺ) made du’aa for Abu Hurayrah (Radhiya Allah ‘Aanhu) to gain knowledge that is not forgotten, and the latter’s phenomenal memory actually was one of the miracles of Rasool Allah (ﷺ).

Also, when all is said and done, there are only roughly 114 sahih musnad hadiths or so (I forgot the exact number) that are uniquely narrated through Abu Hurayrah (RAA). Over 95% of his hadiths are corroborated by other Sahhaba (RAA) who also heard them directly from Rasool Allah Muhammad (ﷺ).
The reliability of Abu Hurayrah (RAA) in hadith is unquestionably solid, and for me personally, as a person who in my youth was (for a while) taken in by the lies and misrepresentations of the hadith rejectors (May Allah forgive me), I have absolutely no hesitation today whatsoever to accept the sahih musnad hadiths of Abu Hurayrah (RAA)-even if they are hadith ahhaad-and to consider them a binding part of the religion of Islam, binding upon me. As Abu Hurairah narrated the most hadeeeth it makes sense that some of the enemies of Islam woukd try to degrade Abu Hurairah and his hadeeth. Indirectly harming Islam is their hope.
Some try to attack hadeeth completely and wish for Muslims to completely dismiss all hadeeth.

There is a narration that states the prophet and the Muslims saw a man approaching from a far distance by himself, when they got close enough to be recognised it was Abuzarr al ghifari r.a. at which the prophet s.w.a.s said that abuzarr walks alone in this dunya. If you read his autobiography, then you can see that this was the case up until his how his funeral was, which was mentioned. Hence, it makes sense that we didn't get much hadith narrated from him r.a

There’s a lot of information here, but unfortunately the arguments are somewhat weak. Firstly, the presenter keeps using Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah RA to to support the various arguments that abu hurairah was a reliable transmitter, good with memory, etc. This is somewhat of a circular argument. Secondly, he obfuscates the sheer number and nature of Hadith that Abu Hurairah narrated by focusing on the Hadith that scholars have deemed “authentic” and ignoring those which have been deemed “weak”. This completely misses the point and is again circular argumentation. For example If someone fabricates 3000 stories, and truthfully tells 100, then of course it will be the 100 that others corroborate; and likewise we would be foolish to say this person is a reliable narrator of events.
He didn’t count the ones authentically attributable to Abu Hurayrah. Pay attention.

When a hadith is considered weak, it is because of other subsequent narrators, not the sahaba.

He restricts his analysis to sahih Hadith only, then does all his measurements of percentages based on that number. @@Warlord_2003 we need to look at the evidence and not get emotional. He converted to Islam in the reign of Umar Ibn Al Khataab RA was apparently an authority in Tafsir of the Quran. His opinions fill our Tafseer literature and are still followed today ! Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA and Abu Thaar Al ghifaari RA believed he was not an authority and this is what the evidence would suggest.
I make no claim to what was in his heart, but I outright reject his history, opinions and superstitions which crept into the mainstream understanding of the Quran.
What is worrying is seeing interpretations which take from his sources. An example is the opinion that Nabi Suliman AS massacred his horses after missing asr salat. This was taken from a riwaayah from Ka'ab

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not tell a lie against me for whoever lies against me then he will surely enter the Hell-fire."
He also said:
مَنْ يَقُلْ عَلَىَّ مَا لَمْ أَقُلْ فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ
Whoever ascribes to me what I have not said then let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire."
It is very interesting that this is one of the most authentic ahadith that has reached us. Is that a coincidence?
Definitely not! The Prophet (ﷺ) is trying to explain the need to be extremely cautious what we attribute to the Prophet (ﷺ).

regarding a hadith website, I would prefer to speak about the Quran because it is an area that I feel has been neglected and much needed. When the opinions of a Kab al ahbaar take precedence over a direct reading of the text of the Quran, then we know that much work needs to be done.

A wife says, 'You should either provide me with food or divorce me.' A slave says, 'Give me food and enjoy my service." A son says, "Give me food; to whom do you leave me?" The people said, "O Abu Huraira! Did you hear that from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ?" He said, "No, it is from my own self."

Tell the whole picture and don't accuse others before you verify ..
His saying, may God be pleased with him: “No, this is from the bag of Abu Hurayrah” is meant at the end of the hadith, which is his saying: “The woman says: Either you feed me, or you divorce me…” etc.
The evidence for that is that it was clearly stated by Imam Ahmad in his “Musnad” (10785), where he said:
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ( خَيْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ مَا كَانَ عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى، وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ ) قَالَ: Abu Hurairah was asked what “who is you depending on?” He said: “Your wife, you say:“ Bed me or spend on me or divorce me, and I will say:

But the fact that he only converted to Islam only two years before prophets death really raises many questions
The point about the later Hanafi position that an ahad hadith cannot establish istihsan unless it the sahabah was a faqih could use some expanding on, as there are some other reasons that could raise the epistemic standard of the hadith such that it would be acceptable in going against qiyas -- namely being widely transmitted among the earlier generations (thus becoming a mashhur hadith).

Why are no sources being discussed in this interview? A lot of assumptions are being presented as unchallenged facts.
It is so sad that people in the comments don't seem to have even watched the video, and if they did, did not watch with an open mind or didn't understand it at all.
Here's the bottom line; it is an absurd inhuman dichotomy to say that when someone is reliable and truthful, he is reliable and truthful all the time and everything he says must be accepted. And that if he lies or is dishonest or is untrustworthy, he is that all of the time and everything he says must be discarded. If that simple premise isn't understood the truth about, not just Abu Hurayra, but many narrators and sahaba, will never be seen let alone understood. Not to mention that sahaba narrated from others without mentioning the intermediaries, and Abu Hurayra is hugely guilty of that.
And yes, when it comes to attributing things of immense import to the Messenger of God, you should strongly err on the side of caution. There is more than enough issues with Abu Hurayra for someone to justifiably throw all his narrations to the wind

He was accused of being a liar. Bottom line, he is rejected in Hadiths. So that stupid mantra needs to be laid to rest. Otherwise, if you accept the Qur'an from him you should accept his Hadiths.

The part about the hanafi madhab and AH is really bad. It is as if the presenter has never spoken with a hanafi scholar. Really bad. Maybe next time u can invite an actual hanafi to explain this.
In the hanafi madhab we pay a LOT of attention to the status of the sahaba. It's a methodological principal in the madhab. It's not as the presenter superficially say kuffan-centric. This is close to insulting. And shows a lack of basic knowledge of the hanafi madhab.
There are many problems with the background of these two speakers
The presenter should read up more on basic hanafi fiqh.
1. There is a difference of opinion among hanafi shuyuk. About whether Abu Huraira was a faqih or not. Some do and others don't.
2. The main point is. We say that he can't be compared to the leading faqihs of the sahaba at that time (Aisha, etc)
3. We prioritize the faqihs among the sahaba on the basis of competence. It's not black and white. Some fatawa/faqih are given precedence above others. That's where the discussion comes from.

They are both Salafi, the Salafi manhaj has bad history with Hanafi Madhab, many of them believe it's simple a Madhab of innovations and Ra'y of Iraqis and Kufans and that it is astray from the hadith. There are also many books disparaging Abu Hanifa as incompetent.

Questioning the validity of our previous Scholars is not acceptable. They were nearer to the source than anyone can ever be and the Almighty knows best.

Its incredible that you are using Abu Hurayra's own hadiths to defend him. Prophet Muhammad did not even know what was going to happen to him (see 46:9) how could be endorsing others to go to heaven? Only God will decide on judgement day who has earned the right to enter heaven. Follow the Quran as the Prophet did and serve God alone instead of serving man-made idols.
Some good points made but I’m not sure this removes the doubts about Abu Huraira (RA) & his narrations.
He was only present in the last 3 years of the Prophet’s (PBUH) life.
He himself admits he spent time with the Prophet (PBUH) primarily to get food & drink.
He claims to narrate directly from the Prophet but his narrations also include accounts via others that are not made clear.
Despite the 4 hour lecture the doubts remain as they have done over thousands of years.
I personally prefer to stick with Mutawatir narrations than rely on the claims of one or two individuals so heavily. It’s not necessary.

None of the Hadith narrators are 100% reliable, Abu Huraira may be the worst of them all. Many Hadith contradict themes in the Quran e.g. No compulsion in religion from Quran, and Kill the apostate from Hadith. The best argument is presented by the Quran:

So, Abu Hurayrah spent his life from age 26yrs-30yrs or so with the Prophet in medina and surrounded by other Companions in Masjid Nabawi, and then lived another 50 or so years after the Prophet had died and he himself was around 80yrs of age. Indeed young brains come with sharp memory, and immersion and dedication are wonderful talents, and he had many years to learn from others and teach others after the Prophets death.

Uthman has a much more closer place to Prophet Muhammad than him, Uthman is the third greatest person after the Prophets with the agreement of the Sahaba even greater than Ali.
Abu Dharr (ra) didn't get along with people. He was ascetic and openly criticized people. He was a good man and a blessed companion but Uthman (ra) was running a state and needed to ensure social harmony.
