thank you for this video! I have noticed that the iphone 12 pro never gave me trouble with focusing, but once I upgraded to the 13 pro with the new macro mode the autofocus issues started. The video quality on the 15 pro max is excellent!
Yeah I experienced focus jump a bit especially when filming the sea dragon and seaweed in the background. Plus visibility wasn't amazing so I can imagine the camera had a hard time differentiate the subject from the background. We're trying again this Sunday at a different dive site and the forecast looks promising so we'll see.
Did you adjust the clamp for the lens? Mine arrived in the box at the "smallest" setting and I found that with my phone, a pixel 6 pro, I was getting the ring of the adapter in my shots. When I moved it to the middle setting, It allowed me to extend the lens directly into the center of the lens in use and it really improved the results. Hopefully this helps someone if they are having the same issues.
Yes definitely! Good pick up, Will. 😀 It's an universal housing and with so many different phone designs and each offers multiple cameras, I guess this is probably the trade off you have to allow between getting this flexibility and having to make some adjustment on the clamp almost every time you switch between cameras. The main goal is to get the wet lens to be right at the centre of the the camera you choose so you don't get any distortion.
I think you just need to be aware of it while diving. Just like the dome lens can get scratched quite easily if you are not careful. It's pretty well made but you still need to be careful and look after it.
I'd probably go with the macro diopter. I film and take photos with video light so red filter is not super critical for me. It's true that iPhone has macro lens build-in but I get a much better result using my +5 diopter. Hope this helps. 😊
It definitely helps. Looking at the footage from iPhone comparing to the one we've got from a full frame camera (same dive) and the iPhone is definitely more stable. I wouldn't say it's as stable as those you can get out of the newer action camera like GoPro or DJI Action but it's pretty close.
Nice video, thanks for the sharing! My divevolk is on the way but I will be still using my iphone xsmax😀 seem the new 15 promax pretty good for the 5x kens, can I ask have you used the red filters for these video and how you feel about using divevolk for underwater filming?
Hello👋 oh thats great, you are going to love it. Yes the 5x lens is impressive. For these videos and photos I used ambient light without a red filter. It was a very sunny day and we were pretty shallow at about 2-5 meters. I also had a small 4000 lumen video light. Enjoy and let me know if you like it once you had a chance to go diving 😊
Hi There! I also have the Divevolk housing and was wondering if you have the same issue where when the wide angle wet lens is on, the camera blurs unless you go into macro mode. But this workaround degrades the video quality I’ve found.
Thank you for your video. Can you film with dome on 0.5x? I saw a review saying that dome is not possible to use with 0.5x lense on 15 pro max. What os your experience? Thank you!
Great question. I did use the dome for some split shots in the Philippines recently and the problem I ecountered was aligning the dome to the wide angle 0.5 lens. The easiest lens to align the dome with was the main camera lens, so the 24mm. But even then, it was extremely difficult to achieve split shots .
Issue: I have the Divevolk 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro. I have no issues with camera operations at 40 feet and up. However, after 40 feet the record button for videos does not stay. I can hold the record button down and it will take the video but it just wont lock. I can do all other functions. Thought
Thanks for the comment. That's super strange. We are currently in the Philippines, diving around 60 feet every day and on my iPhone 15Pro Max everything works fine, however one day I accidentally got a little moisture into the housing and that stuffed everything up. Perhaps check that the inside is 100% dry. I resolved the moisture by spiking the travel insert with anti fog inserts overnight. I hope this helps. I'll also be making a little 7 day review video in the coming weeks talking about that as well as rig set up around the housing.
Here's the next video showing more macro shots with +5 dioptor 😊

Wow, it is beautiful. How beautiful my God.

crazy seeing that truck/boat stuck in the water at 9:51...
😄 Very well spotted!
Hi. Thanks for the video. Regarding the Diveolk iPhone housing , do you have a fear of the gel membrane getting damaged under water?
I think you just need to be aware of it while diving. Just like the dome lens can get scratched quite easily if you are not careful. It's pretty well made but you still need to be careful and look after it.
I have a question: does the touchscreen work with dry gloves from a drysuit?
I'm not sure actually as I don't have those on my drysuit. But it works with my 5mm neoprene gloves.
If you have the choice of lens to put on what would it be between the red filter, the macro lens or both on the same rig?
I'd probably go with the macro diopter. I film and take photos with video light so red filter is not super critical for me. It's true that iPhone has macro lens build-in but I get a much better result using my +5 diopter. Hope this helps. 😊
Underwater action mode, does it make the video more stable? Thanks for the answer

Thanks for the video! When you were moving between zoom at 3:44 and filming the ray at 4:39, was the diopter in position or was it just the camera?
No, that's just directly from the phone without diopter 🙂

Yes! It was pretty frustrating! So I generally use the 3rd party app like Black Magic where you can have more manual control instead.

@@StephAndBurim thank you for your answer! 👍
Are you using the iPhone 15 in the adapter for the 14?
Yap. 15 is a tiny bit smaller than 14 but it'll work. I wasn't sure at first but didn't have any problems with it at all.
