I live in an apartment (HUD) and my door has at least an inch gap at the bottom. I purchased the metal door sweep that has rubber at the bottom. It was the one you recommended in the description box. It's a nice commercial one. And reasonably priced. I have yet to install it. I'm hoping it will blocked noise and smells from the hallway. The smells... Mostly pot, sometimes cigarettes. And no they are not suppose to smoke in the building but the manager doesn't enforce it.
I live in Section 8 housing as well. So many smokers right outside my door. Yes, the smells - I have MCS, asthma, and this smoke is making my heart race. Yes! OMG! Three people sit in the enclosed hallway from sun up to sundown and smoke cigs and pot. I felt so alone. I am 51 and really need someone to install this for me. I know, my property manager will not do anything. The neighbors do not care and they use what you tell them about your health to harm you. Also, the health department will do nothing. Monday I am contacting ADA and seeing if they will help.

I live in an apartment complex. The neighbors are sitting in the enclosed hallway smoking nonstop from sunup to sundown. They are smoking cigs and pot. The smoke comes inside my unit. The property manager, county health department have done nothing yet - it has been 5 weeks and now 3 sit in the hallway and do this. I was thinking if I use the weather stripping and the door sweep, it may keep the smoke out. But I need my son to come over and help me clean and install and drill and all that. But I also think of how long I will need the door open while they smoke - but I am thinking this will also help in the colder months with the weather and bugs who want to come visit and like you said, sound!
The bottom of my door is weathering away and screws won't grip and bottom weathering strips you just slip on doing have anything to grip on to any solutions i live in a apartment

how do you soundproof a wall, a single american wall, thin and cheap wall. I talk to people when playing video games and my mother complained to me that it keeps her up. I do not talk loud at all, yet my mom can still hear it perfectly clear though the wall. what would help this?

Metal door, you can use tek screws which are self taping screws for metal, just get the right side with the type of head you want
Do the door sweeps come in bigger widths for exterior iron doors?
