Does 30 Seconds Cleaner® Remove Algae?

  • In this video, I aim to use the product 30 Seconds Cleaner® that I bought at Home Depot. I have an area on the front of my barn that is about 300 ft.², and I wanted to see if the product worked to clean the embedded bacteria and algae on it.
    Full disclosure: I own a power washing company but forgot to have my guys wash the barn, so I just wanted to see if this product would work. It was a fun little experiment. I read everything in the instructions, and I washed the siding.
    30 Second cleaner link: amzn.to/3TIMBg9
    30 Second cleaner link 2 pack: amzn.to/3THtnHQ
    30 Second cleaner 128 fl. oz. bottle & 1 Gallon Pump Sprayer: amzn.to/3K5Bivw
    The results were not entirely surprising. The product did work, but I wish I had my power washer because there was some residue. I couldn’t get off with just the garden hose. In the end, I think a small project like a deck or patio might be perfect for this type of cleaner. My opinion is that larger projects will take too much of this product and won’t be cost-effective.
    This is not a paid endorsement, and this is simply my opinion about the product.

    This works great; nothing better. Get this, at one Ace Hardware it's $13.99; at the other it's $23.99. You're right about it going fast. I raced to do one side of a modular home and ran out. "30 Seconds" refers to how long it takes to empty the bottle! You mentioned a gallon, but it comes in 64oz bottles for hose sprayers. You have to move quick, but at the same time, you have to give complete coverage. It will take 4 bottles for an average house, but the difference can be remarkable. Only professional strength pool shock is as good.
    Don't rely on what you spray at the top to drip down and clean the bottom; it doesn't work that way. You have to spray fresh product everywhere and don't forget behind plants and downspouts. Rinse your plants well and don't let it dry on windows. This is only bleach, but at a higher strength than bleach you buy (Clorox) for clothes (about 9.5% vs 5.5%). It's okay if you spray on your plants (they won't think so), but you have to spray them off afterward.
    I left mine on for about 6 minutes (longer would dry), then changed to my hose sprayer, which is pretty powerful. I used a brush with Dawn for heavier soiled areas. If you miss a spot, you're going to know it, so buy twice as much as you think you'll need. Figure 1 bottle per house side as an average. Be careful when you start; be ready because you don't have much time. Scope out your house (or other victim) in detail so you'll have a battle plan of attack and not miss anything.
    This also cleans toilets and showers and is available in 1 gal non-spray jugs you can put in your own spray applicator. If you have left-over, you can dilute it 1/1 in a spray bottle. The over-spray from this will ruin your clothes, so no Dolce or Versace in the yard with this!

      This is all beneficial information. You are correct. In the video, I am using the 64 oz sprayer, but I also got a gallon as well. Thanks for commenting!

    It's not perfect but damn that's good without using a pressure washer or scrubber!

      I thought so as well. I didn't cheat and use a pressure washer like I normally would, so to get those results were pretty amazing. It rained later that day and it looks even better.

    If you used a pressure washer it would have worked much better. I power wash and use this stuff all the time and it works phenomenally.

      Also use a pump sprayer to apply the cleaner solution, it will also make it work much better.

      This was a concentrate that mixed when the hose was hooked up. They also sell concentrate in one-gallon jugs. You can apply it with a pump sprayer or downstream injector.

    Is it ok for plants?

    • @pristinecleancleveland4301
      @pristinecleancleveland4301  Месяц назад

      You should be fine if you spray plants down thoroughly with water and post-rinse the area. Direct contact with most cleaners will kill organic material (plants). Thanks for the question!

      Not so well because of the porous nature, but it may depend on what is on it. I won't pressure wash my house, but I will the walkway. I think this would assist, but not on it's own clean concrete because I tried it, but only once with no effect. Again, it might depend on your situation and whether your concrete is sealed or not.

    Should have done a control, by assisting just water first to see if it comes off without it as well.

      Sodium Hypochlorite, when used properly, is one of the best cleaning agents for washing.

    • @pristinecleancleveland4301
      @pristinecleancleveland4301  Месяц назад

      Because this stuff would cost a fortune to spray on your whole roof, it's not as effective as a Pristine Roof Wash, and I am sure you don't wan to get up on the roof ;)

      I don't disagree. We use sodium hypochlorite, and emulsifier and a surface protection on all our house washes.
