Replacing The CMOS Battery in An HP Compaq 6000 Pro All In One

- I have been at another auction and I picked up a couple of computers. These computers are a bit newer than the ones that I normally work on. They were sold as not working. As a shot in the dark I am going to change the CMOS battery on the HP Compaq 6000 Pro All In One to see if that helps. I will also see what is going on with the iMac.

Before you give up on the HP, I’d like to see you check the power connector, switch and check for voltages. The principles are similar to troubleshooting of the old 8 bit systems you’ve worked on before.
I'm not giving up on it yet, the power switch is on my list of things to check as soon as I figure out how to get to it!
@@CanadianRetroThings Excellent! Fingers crossed there will be a Part 2!
Thank you sir so much for this video. 👊😇❤
Nice pickup on those systems. It's a pity about the HP not working (I have no idea at all where you could start to try fixing it) but like you said it has a lot of parts that you can use elsewhere. The Apple is a different story though it boots and it was running Linux, I don't know Apples much but I imagine it should be easy to get up (and you have a choice of OS you can put on it). Nice video, I enjoyed watching the teardown to change the battery.
The HP looks like it will be a parts computer, I still have not decided exactly what to do with the iMac. I am thinking of doing a tare down video to pull the hard drive out so I can test and either reformat it or replace it.
$12 Canadian I would say that is a deal. The iMac should be easily restored with a restore disc or a OSX DVD, probably 10.6 as that is probably a good version to run for early intel Macs.
I am thinking that as well. I am sure I can get something running on it, I might even put Linux back on it since I already have a couple of Macs from around that era. I have not decided yet.
Free Sub from a fellow Canadian.
I would suggest getting plastic tools such as the ones for cell phones. I use them anytime I can't use metal or want to be gentle with what I'm doing. Such as removing ribbon cables and other things that can easily break.
I have picked up bot some plastic and ceramic tools since this video. Slowly I am getting all the stuff I want!
Thank you for the video, what is the maximum processor can be updated? E5900, pentium D?
