Hey Daniel, I always thought people in general (including myself) don't really know the principles of setting up lighting in a house/room. It would be awesome if you could make a video on how to set up lights in a home office for example
Some of the questions I ask myself: What are the different types of lights and/or lightbulbs? What temperature to use and when and where, what intensity? Lamps vs headlights vs hanging lights? Are LEDs better for certain situations? Can I mix lamps and headlights and how to do it estatically and practically? What is the best way to illuminate a room taking into consideration the orientation and position of the windows and the activities I intend to do.
WOW! This is incredible, Daniel! So functional and SO beautiful. We can't thank you enough for redesigning our office and we fully intend to action this in the coming weeks. We will send you updates when it's complete! Cheers, James & Marcella
Daniel! I am HOOKED! I discovered you just yesterday through the "ARCHITECT REDESIGNS - A Crowded Home Office, Gym & Bedroom" video and loved it! I've now watched at least half your redesign videos and you are my favorite person now! I thought to submit an application but my space is not really challenging, just a basic 500sqft studio. Thank you for incorporating your thought process in your videos because it helps me think of how to design my space for maximum functionality and appealing aesthetics! Looking forward to more of your videos!
I look forward to each new episode. This one was a difficult challenge, but what a result for such a small space! Amazing! The DIY element of your furniture selection works like magic.
Hi Daniel, this might be the best one yet! You could even enhance storage by adding wall shelfs behind the door, with the angle of the door fully opening. Maybe even with hooks on the bottom side, to store backpackd or other miscellaneous items
This whole series is amazing. It is so helpful to watch you problem solve and explain the reasons behind your decisions. This little room turned out very nicely.
Love the series and am a big fan of your aesthetic! I always like how practical your designs are. And while this final design looks great, I can't help but notice the absence of a couple of his major components like his laptop and PS4. Practically it would be interesting to see how they would be incorporated into the design as they can often be a large consumer of space.
My own home office is very similar to this one (almost the same long and narrow dimensions, window in the same location,...) and I have the same issues as James and Marcella with this tiny space. Somehow all the clutter ends up in the open shelves in this room. So I might just use this setup because it looks amazing! Thanks for this boost of inspiration.
Hello Daniel. This is just great redesign of the tiny office space. Im currently at the similar spot as my office is now also a storage for gazillion items for kids and our household while it should still be a peaceful place for me to work and create... I was thinking of using metod cabinets for mine and was browsing if anyone had already come up with this before I open up sketch up and Im so glad I find you and your work including the renders. Thank you!
This is very estiticaly pleasing and functional there is one issue it doesn't solve but just moves it to a different place. In the before photo, the client used the room to store all kinds of things, most of which can be now fitted into cupboards, all but one, the bike. Now that this space is sorted now, the client has to figure out where else to put it, and storing bike in a flat is always a messy thing.
As someone who had a similar weirdly angled door leaving a bit of a useless triangular space behind it, it's a good opportunity for hanging stuff. You could hang a broom, a vacuum cleaner, even some coats. Since this is not a warehouse, coats instead of brooms should be good. It will look OK and use the space effectively. These could even be hanged in the door directly, instead of the wall.
Another masterpiece... I am in love with this channel. I am planning to start my interior architecture program soon and this channel is a masterpiece for me. I'll love to learn your story on how you get started and how many years you've spent doing this. Thank you for the gem.
Great Design! I think I'd add a drawer style desk surface for the keyboard and mouse so that it's possible to get a little bit further away from the monitor without making the desk deeper permanently.
wow! what an incredible small space makeover! you're a real genius in the design world, sir Daniel! excited to see more videos like this! also, thank you for the book reco 😊
Incredible Daniel! Seeing what you were able to do with this space sparked the inspiration that I've been looking for over several MONTHS! We've sent in our application, fingers-crossed!
Nice one, and the only difference I would make would be to paint the middle cupboard doors with a muted colour to bring more warmth to the room, or use the cupboard doors to hang narrow artwork
Fantastic job! My first thought was also to turn the desk to the window and just use blinds but this opened up an entire side of the room. Great use of storage space too!
Looks stunning and minimalistic, but as I've seen in other videos as well. This makeover ignores the space needed for keeping large items like wheelchair(?) and clubs that were previously kept in the room. Also, it would be neat to see how the client would use the gaming console over the desk.
There is a huge problem with the setup, particularly the desk: it is too shallow. I should know, as I have a tiny desk too due to space, and the discomfort this causes to the legs is incredible. Good luck finding the time to stretch and exercise with the child as well, problem I have too. But other than that, I guess the space is utilised the best possible way.
Much better to wall mount the monitor and remove the desk riser for much more free surface space. Looks cramped on top at present with no room for the PlayStation. Maybe a fold down leaf extension to make the desk deeper when using would be helpful for the legs, though not as clean
Another stunning and clever design 👏👏👏👏👏, I love how you used kitchen cabinets in an office 👍😁. That's think out of the box😉. I am currently redoing my laundry and storage room and I am using a combination of IKEA kitchen cabinets and Leroy Merlin wardrobes. Much more cost effective than having something custom made. Looking forward to seeing your next video. I have been using audible for 5 years and I love it, you always have a "book" with you and you can do other things while someone reads to you 👍👍👍😁
Great video! I wish you had implemented the large items he had into the setup like the bike or the ps4 though to feel how cluttered it might look with these unhide-able items.
Hey Daniel ! This is amazing! Please post more videos like this, is just incredible what you can do with ikea furnitures, thanks a million!!!do more and more❤️❤️❤️❤️ kiss. Four your lovely baby❤️❤️god bless you all
I just discovered your channel, Daniel, you are a genius with space; I am awed by the transformations you create. I am sending your link to everyone I know.
Love it! Great job! Can you make a video of what you consider best layout of an appartment that has a living room with a kitchen, wc, bedroom, entry hallway, balcony and all of that in 40 m2?
I absolutely love your channel, this new series, and how you use your talents. I will be reading the book and I am truly thinking of working on this as a career. Thank you Daniel!!!
I used a 600 mm deep shelf. Being on wall brackets I could move it up or down to suit seating position. After a while I found the palms of my hands and forearms becoming painful. Although the depth allowed me to rest my elbows whilst typing I was perhaps catching the sharp edge of the shelf enough times to cause a problem. Worktop used for kitchens might be a better choice being thicker and having a rounded edge. I changed the shelf for a desk 800 mm deep with a thick top with rounded edges that also has adjustable height - not a standing desk but enough for different seating positions. The extra depth means I can position the 4K 82cm (32") diagonal monitor at a more comfortable distance. The desk is 1200 mm wide and has a shelf at the same level holding a scanner giving a top of 180 cm x 80 cm. A company was moving offices and sold off most of their furniture so it was also very inexpensive. Now looking old and the top dull but I could paint the brown metal legs and lay a large mat over the top to dress it up. It is very heavy and awkward to install into a room and not easy to take apart.
That looks killer! One thing I'll say, from an audio standpoint, you want the monitors and your ears to be in an equilateral triangle, with the tweeters at ear-level. Some mini shelves either side of the monitor would've helped this a lot, and also gives an added bonus of more desk space. Great setup though, such a fantastic use of a small space.
I’m a commercial interior designer in Atlanta, Georgia that just switched jobs . I now work half of my week in office and half of my week remote . My apartment is about 650 sq ft and I would love your take on how I can make space for a desk setup in my apt !
This is really inspiring. For the bike though, I was thinking that having it hang on the wall would be nice? Perhaps allowing the seam of the floor and the wall to continue, allowing for the "illusion" of the space to propagate? Another option would be to hang it vertically behind the door where the shelving was originally positioned, though of course, the opening would be bit lesser as a tradeoff perhaps.
Great work! I Will be submitting my garage soon. I want to create an office/garage in one. Because we need to office space as a kids room! :) But a minimal office/garage with room for a classic car also. Not easy! 😁
Great work! Although I feel like changing the ceiling to the same material of the floor will balance the height of it and make the space look a bit more complete 🤔
Looks real nice I must say. Just that the depth of the tabletop doesn't seem to provide enough room for resting the forearm when using the mouse. I'm having similar trouble myself which caused me back shoulder pain.
I really appreciate these redesign videos!! would love to see a makeover for a home office in a large/shared space. I have a finished carpeted basement that also serves as a play area for the kids and workout area. My workspace is a just a desk up against a wall - I would love some tips on sectioning a little bit of space off (maybe with temporary walls or something like that).
Hey Daniel, I always thought people in general (including myself) don't really know the principles of setting up lighting in a house/room. It would be awesome if you could make a video on how to set up lights in a home office for example
I second this!
Yes
Would be great!!
Yes, particularly the LED lights you use frequently. 💡
Some of the questions I ask myself: What are the different types of lights and/or lightbulbs? What temperature to use and when and where, what intensity? Lamps vs headlights vs hanging lights? Hope you can upload a video with before and after details :)
So stoked that you like the concept James! 😃 Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Were u able to do it ? Any updates or photos ?

THIS SERIES IS GOING SO WELL , EXCITED TO SEE MORE FFROM THESE SERIES
Wow this turned out amazing!! You are a pro at small space redesigns.
Wow. It's minimalistic and absolutely stunning. That's the best way to use a small room like this.
What I like most about your design is that it's easy to carry out! It's not expensive and doesn't require many skills to assemble the new furniture.

This one is great, I love seeing truly small and difficult spaces be properly optimized !
Woooo I was just thinking of when we'll get another episode of Architect Redesign. This is now my favourite show on RUclips.
I look forward to each new episode. This one was a difficult challenge, but what a result for such a small space! Amazing!
The DIY element of your furniture selection works like magic.

Also the bike and vacuum. I'd put the vacuum in the small space behind the open door, and I'd hang the bike on the wall, or find a ceiling mount.
As fresh uni architecture grad, I really enjoy this series and always look forward to your awesome designs. Keep it up!!
Love the small details. Like the door handle at the same height as the cupboard handles

Amazing, I couldn't see how this small room could turn out. I'm so impressed! Very well done!

Absolutely love this series Daniel, not only are you helping specific people, you're giving me some amazing ideas of how to utilise spaces!
Hi, you have very cleverly solved the problem which most of us might be facing. Thanks for sharing your thought process.
This series has been so insightful to see how you work to optimize and design these little rooms with such a set of strict parameters!
Your designs are brilliant! I love how you integrated kitchen cabinets in the desk!

These videos are golden, Daniel. Love that you are leaning into your architecture background more and more. keep it up.

I´m loving this series, greetings from México.
Incredible Daniel! Seeing what you were able to do with this space sparked the inspiration that I've been looking for over several MONTHS! We've sent in our application, fingers-crossed!
This series is so good. Id love to see a bigger room space too just to see what ideas you have when you have more space to work with
Nice one, and the only difference I would make would be to paint the middle cupboard doors with a muted colour to bring more warmth to the room, or use the cupboard doors to hang narrow artwork
I love how much you can achieve with so little changes. Great job!!! 😍
LITTLE changes???????? BRUUUUUUUUUUH
Fantastic job! My first thought was also to turn the desk to the window and just use blinds but this opened up an entire side of the room. Great use of storage space too!
Stunning transformation. Spacial knowledge like this is so incredibly impressive. Very well done.
Looks stunning and minimalistic, but as I've seen in other videos as well. This makeover ignores the space needed for keeping large items like wheelchair(?) and clubs that were previously kept in the room. Also, it would be neat to see how the client would use the gaming console over the desk.
I assumed the intention was that all the stuff that was previously in the space would now be hidden away in the cupboards?
I agree.. it would have been nice if the bike had a wall mount since it was stored in the room. Not sure where the stroller is now being stored.
i couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what you did. Brilliant 👏
Love the solution for the door and cabinets! So much storage but still room to walk in, awesome!!
You're one of the most amazing and talented architects I've ever seen.
Yass! More videos like this please Daniel!
As someone who is looking to move out, I love this. Thanks, Daniel!
Wow! When I first saw the room size and shape, I thought "how is he going to fix that?"... then BAM! That was amazing! Brilliant!
been binge watching all your videos like this. i hope your design comes into reality, really looking forward on that. awesome work as always.
Amazing, creative makeover. I cannot believe how it turned out!
I swear there's so much talent in this channel

Smart solution, looks great.
This is my favourite one you’ve done yet.
Excellent work! Particularly surprised by the door nook idea 💡 😄
I just discovered your channel, Daniel, you are a genius with space; I am awed by the transformations you create. I am sending your link to everyone I know.
Can't wait for the next makeover!
Love this channel. This is one of my favorite designs you’ve done. Can’t stop watching these videos. Congrats and keep up this great work!
What a design , looked really crisp.
I love this. I used some of your tips when helping to redesign my brother's work/gaming space. He really likes what I've done so far, thanks to you 😁
great work Daniel! you really transformed the place into paradise.
Love it! Great job! Can you make a video of what you consider best layout of an appartment that has a living room with a kitchen, wc, bedroom, entry hallway, balcony and all of that in 40 m2?

Any chance we can see videos of these offices after renovations? Would love to see your clients implement your designs in real life!
i like the simplicity of it

Absolutely loved the design. I feel like the table top edge could be rounded as it would provide a softer finish
I was so waiting for the next episode!!!
I love this series so much. Submitted!
Really loving this series!
Please, keep doing these!!
I'm not artistic at all but I am definitely inspired by this series. Thanks Daniel
Omdz I am bingeing these series!!!!!

omg i'm stuck in this videooooo. so good! congrats, Daniel! You did a amazing job. (watching from Brazil!)
Great Job! I really like this series! I´m excited to see more of that!
best setup i've ever seen 👏😍so inspiring

Hello, are you looking for interior designer?
Yay! Another awesome video! Love this series so muchhhhh 🥰
great job, it looks like the bike could go in the hole for the door :)
You really out-did yourself in this one! Great inspiration our your own spaces
What a makeover. Amazing!
that transformation is amazing!! im definitely going to use some of the ideas in my room!
Great work! Although I feel like changing the ceiling to the same material of the floor will balance the height of it and make the space look a bit more complete 🤔
This is so, so, so, SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bravo!
You are officially the "kitchen cabinet" genious! What an amazing setup!
Wow! You did a great job on that redesign.
Wow!! it seems spectaculars, definily loving this series. From Dominican!
I absolutely LOVE this series!!
This looks great and feels clean
Looks real nice I must say. Just that the depth of the tabletop doesn't seem to provide enough room for resting the forearm when using the mouse. I'm having similar trouble myself which caused me back shoulder pain.

I am loving this type of content. More to come sir.
I’m loving these videos… Stunning work.. Appreciate it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Brilliant make-over. But the position of the PS4 puzzles me..where does it find its newly dedicated location?
Brilliant design Daniel🐨🦘🇦🇺
