This is what I love about good design; it not only solves the problem on a practical level, but also a pyschology one. This design seeks to alleviate stress around clutter (hello parenthood!) and trying to maintain a clean, efficient environment also.Love that you've not only designed the space, but were sensitive around budgeting as well as pointing the couple in the direction of how to DIY the storage area themselves. Only thing missing from this video...an update from the couple to see if they enacted the ideas. Hope you can get an update from them, otherwise an absolutely beatiful job!

The only suggestion I would make (assuming it isn't time intensive!) would be to add nightime/artificial light views to the final renders. The apartment looks fabulous during the simulated daytime view, but I am curious what it looks with a nightime view and the light source coming from the modeled lights in the apartment! Also, I wonder how difficult it would be to import your SketchUp models into the Unreal Engine so you could do a "live" walkthrough of the design... Cool stuff! Always enjoy and look forward to your design challenges and absolutely love this series! Personally, while I agree with a lot of your choices, I would change two things about the proposal, I would cut their kitchen cabinets and cooking areas by half since they are both working parents, whom I assume won't be doing much heavy cooking, secondly for the dining table, it would be such a costly use of space to have that massive table there all the time, I would opt for tables that can be extended when needed, with foldable chairs stored somewhere else, so they can still entertain a larger group when needed, but also reclaim back that space when not entertaining, enjoying that open space more on a daily basis. Just my 2 cents.

Brilliant ideas! There is one small issue though, the parents' bed only has one night stand so one of the occupants has neither a place to put their thing nor a reading light. I would suggest a bed like the Ikea Brimnes bed that has hidden storage in its headboard. The headboard also acts a shelf upon which one could place 2 reading lamps allowing more symmetry. This bed also has big drawers underneath it for storage.
And maybe replace the bathroom door with a sliding one? (However, this could lead to a noise issue if someone uses it during the night).

I love how 80m2 is considered TINY in New York, while in London the average two-bed is 61m2...

Same in the area of Paris. It always makes me smile when something barely smalker than my current flat (90m2, 4 bedrooms, 6 people living there comfortably) is described as ”tiny” - but depending on the amount of stuff ones has or the style of one’s furniture, it can indeed feel too small.

Germany here, it's why I clicked on the video. That is a nice big flat from a European viewpoint. They could improve it drastically by decluttering and tidying it. Then just move the existing furniture and they have a spacious flat at no cost at all.

Шикарно! Очевидные же решения по перестановке, как они сами не додумались! Ох сколько ещё работы у архитекторов)))

Hi Daniel, I really enjoy watching all of your remodeling videos. I love seeing rooms fully reach up to their full potentials, only by investing a relatively small amount of money. Great work ❤👍

I loved this video! It was really helpful to watch as I am about to have a baby and we live in a 2 bed flat in London zone 2. It's really inspiring to see how small spaces can work for families. I especially liked the dining table set up in this apartment. Would love to see more small family homes 😍

I really like your ideas for the appartement and enjoyed watching your video. When it comes to parents bedroom I think I would place some curtain rails on the ceilling to separate the working area from the bedroom area if they choose to with a light curtain which lets light through and blackout curtain to get a nice background for video calls and not just looking at a bed. Having an interesting pattent on the wardrobe could create a more pleasant background for video calls from the other desk.

I have just subbed. Your videos are amazing. Someday I'll send you my in law's house layout. It is sooo weird (in a wrong way). Huge radiators, oddly placed heating tubes and soo much more. Greetings from Hungary!
