- It's day 2 of my amazing Disney Cruise to Italy and Greece on the Disney Dream and today we are visiting Pompeii and enjoying some amazing time on the ship! This excursion exceeded my every expectation and if you are planning a European Disney Cruise with a stop in Naples, I highly recommend booking your excursion EARLY as they will fill up. Adam and I did the adults only experience which allows you to see the brothels and other areas not available on the family friendly version. Booking your excursion through Disney also ensures that the ship won't leave without you so if you're an anxious traveler like Adam and I, highly recommend booking your Pompeii excursion through Disney Cruise Line.

The castle you pointed out is Castel Sant’Elmo on Vomero Hill. The Novecento Museum is inside. The museum covers Naples history.

I have been to Naples twice. First time we chose to go to Capri and it was so ohotwe did not go to the shopping center close to the ship. The second time, we were going to take The Hop on Hop off bus that would eventually take us to the 5he famous mall. We'll, we rode rode the bus, but it Poured so hard, no one got off. Next time! Enjoy!

Pompeii is on my bucket list for sure! I knew it was a remarkable place but I truly had no idea just how advanced of a civilization it was. Amazing!

I agree with you regarding the Animators Pallette menu, very lackluster. But I do love those black truffle purseittes and they will make that into an entree size dish if you ask 😊

I found you when you did your Japan trip, which was so enjoyable! Genuine interest and enthusiasm for travel and go with the flow attitude makes your content fun and relaxing to watch. I have always wanted to do a Disney Cruise as my first one ever. I did not know that they had adults only excursions.That was some good info. Pompeii looked amazing. Now subscribed so I can come along for the ride.

For the Animator’s Palette menu, I had the Haloumi Pursettes on my Magic cruise last summer and it’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever eaten on DCL. Don’t sleep on those Vegetarian dishes. They were several of my favorite things I’ve had now!
Jen, avoid Costa cruises like the plague. It was one of their ships that ran aground a few years ago and killed quite a few people

I’ve only just discovered you (myself and my kids have been following Adam for a while) and I am really enjoying this series and I love your take on it all! That Prosecco is my favourite brand that I first tried on one of the tastings on our Disney Med cruise and I’ve been drinking it ever since. I loved Pompeii so much and I’d love to go back in the winter so I could last more than a few hours!
going on the Magic in April. And surprise surprise there is Adam with his trademark ‘moooooorning’ ! delightful. A few weeks ago people from the Dis DVC crew showed up sponsoring Adam. Big planet small world.
I loved seeing Pompeii again in this Vlog. My husband and I hiked Mt. Vesuvius a few years back with our then 3 and 5 year olds!

When I was in Naples I took a fast ferry boat over to Capri - I was amazing!!!

Hey, the DCL ships are our faves , but not visiting the City of Naples while being there is missing the best part of your tour, i am afraid.

Wow, what incredible views you had from the ship. I've never seen the Pompeii ruins that I can recall.
On my upcoming cruise, I will be visiting the Mayan ruins.
It is an apartment building. I drive past it all the time, it used to be a rich people residence and now it’s apartments. And the smaller boat is the ferry that goes to the islands in the gulf of naples.
I would so love to see Europe this way! Having a base that travels with you is such an amazing thing.
We saw this ship on its Barcelona to Rome trek just before your cruise while we were on our Royal Caribbean ship. “We’re sitting back here so we can make fun of everyone” I think you and Adam might be my people. Looks like you are having so much fun. Can’t wait for the next vlog.

The Pompeii bit really got me. I saw the Pompeii exhibit in Denver and it was a very emotional experience - but I would still like to visit the real place. The rest of your day looked just lovely - what an amazing trip you're having!!

Jen, my sister in law’s mom is called Yaya, it’s totally sweet. She’s from Louisiana, so either it’s from there too somehow, or she just picked it. Wasn’t going to be maw-maw, that was her mother 😉 Wish for us both one day the blessings of grandkids - egads no pressure tho if anyone I happen to know is paying attention lol.

The Prosecco they offer to Platinum guests and above cruisers in Europe is better than what they offer from US departures! I didn't even want to share my bottle it was so good. 😂 (Platinum guests are offered one of 3 or 4 options as their 'included' Castaway gifts from room service.)

It is for sure back sailing out of Barcelona at the end of May next year. Your posts spurred me to finally book a cruise. Not sure it's wise that my first cruise (ever!) is a Disney Cruise in Europe.... That whole "not wanting to get off the ship" thing could be a real problem...lol. I MAY try to book another beforehand to take care of that issue. 🤣

"Costa Toscana" belongs to the Italian "Costa Cruises". All the ships are named "Costa + ......" ie, Costa Fortuna, Costa Serena. Costa Firenze and so on...

Looking forward to getting back on DCL. We've visited Pompeii on a RCCL itinerary several years ago and chuckled when you mentioned the adults tour. Pompeii does have some adult areas. Did you drink from the water fountain that still flows today?

I’m afraid that I don’t know any modern Greek, only Classical Greek and at this point, 20+ years after my degree, my go-to phrase is “The ship is in Byzantium” which is not very helpful. Looks like you are having a fabulous time!

I have traveled to Italy many times it is a famous castle in Naples can’t remember name I was a child when traveling back-and-forth to see my Nonna, so I just don’t remember the name. If you find out, please post it I would love to know what the name is.

It's included! Just be sure to tip your attendant (they aren't included in the tipping you do at the end of the cruise).
Wasn’t Pompeii amazing and sad? I thought the “menu” drawings on the walls in the “entertainment “ district were quite unique and that’s the best PG word I can use 🤣 also the young adult and child petrified was sobering. Cannot imagine what those people must have went through. 💖
