It is remaining in union with Jesus by remaining in trust in his redeeming sacrifice. 1 John 2:24 "Let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. IF what you heard from the beginning remains in you (see Heb 3:6 below) , you will also REMAIN IN UNION WITH both the Son and the Father. And this is what he has promised us (who remain): eternal life." Heb 3:6 - But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God's entire house. This term "In Christ" or "in union with Christ apears throughout the NT. 1 John especially elaborates on abiding as discussed in John 15 talking about "remaining in union with Christ".
