    As a brand new owner of a '23 Toyota GR86 premium, i can vouch for Joe when he says you have to get behind the wheel of one to fully embrace it in all levels. Looks and feels 1,000% better in person which made the whole thing that much better to own. Do yourselves a favor and hunt one down and test drive the GR86. It's a fun, great handling, stylish coupe for the money. I'd compare it to a high octane go-kart, moves when you want it and looks good while doing so. Thanks for listening to my TED talk 😂

      @@porfiriato84 it has a very linear power delivery so it ups and goes when you want it to. Off the line, not the fastest, but once you got the RPMs up to 3k, 4k it feels just as fast as anything on the road. On sport mode, I personally feel it's in the mid to low 5-second mark bone stock. That's just from personal experience.

      I don't know if it's a "hang up" but Toyota doesn't have a lot of turbocharged motors in their portfolio that would fit this chassis designed AROUND the Boxer4. • @Thoraxide
      @Thoraxide Год назад +2

      @@kingbojack Toyota and Subaru have a big problem with the way the oil pans of 2022 GR86 and BRZ cars were sealed up. On these applications, Toyota and Subaru opted for a room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant in place of a conventional gasket on the oil pan. This isn’t the first time we’ve learned about RTV problems when used at the oil pan - Ford has their own issues, but that’s a story for another day. In many documented cases of the Toyota GR86 and the Subaru BRZ problem, too much RTV was applied to the oil pan at the factory which is leading to oil starvation and eventual engine failure. This is an especially big deal considering that both vehicles are marketed as track-ready, and yet, they can’t survive a track day.

    Amazing video as always, guys!
    2 extra QoL bits I noticed that seem like they're worth mentioning.
    1. Look at the vertical space they give you above the pocket in the door panels. Most cars have the armrest/handle as a complete bar that extends over top of the pocket and makes it a PITA to actually fit anything into the pocket. 9:12
    2. Spacing/placement of the steering wheel controls look like they would be perfect for actually using them either during spirited driving or while cruising on the interstate with one hand on the wheel and elbow resting on the side. 12:00
    As a side note, why in the world have they not given the GR86 a turbo option by now?! I don't think they realize how much of an impact they would make on the market by simply carrying over the FI setup offered on the WRX. Personally, I would've bought a GR86 years ago if it had that one simple change. I don't just say that because of the power potential; I know that isn't what this car is about. Just from an efficiency standpoint, it would make this car much more pleasurable to drive. I know we have all been in a 4cyl vehicle that required the AC to be turned off to safely make that pass on the interstate/backroad or to get up to highway speeds on a short on-ramp. Ofcourse, this is just my personal opinion :)

      They have not given the car a turbo because that was never the goal of the car. The goal was to fill an empty void that was missing from the driving pleasure that the AE86 brought to the community. Many famous Japanese drivers have grown up with the AE86. There is no car like it and toyota heard that and decided to pay homage to the original. Original brought a lot of joy without having a turbo. It was an aspect on under dog car that has a cult following.

      If the car had a turbo the price would probably start around 38k or higher (think BMW 230i). To keep costs down and complexity I think they didn't go with turbo, I mean they wouldn't want it to compete against Toyota's own Supra!

    The reason for the limited edition is so dealers have something to do what they do with. As in the $55K - $60K Civic Type R's. Can't wait to watch the fun. That said, they did a very nice job equipping this version of the car.

    It must be hard to do a little research. The AE86 was a Corolla not a Celica Gts. In Japan they offered a Tureno and Levin. Biggest difference being pop up headlights vs non.

    you said Celica GTS, in the USA the AE86 was known as the Corolla GTS, in Japan and other parts of the world they had the Sprinter Trueno and Corolla Levin one had pop up headlights the other had fixed headlights the wheels look like the RS Watababe rims pretty cool tbh.

    i ordered a manual halo premium 2023 GR86 back in november, still have yet to receive it, but it almost pains me to see this. as i was planning on making my 86 look like takumi’s 86. i want to personally build mine anyway, but i do love a panda trueno. i wish i could somehow get the trueno badges and shifter? i don’t want to pretend i have this special edition but i do like those. personally not a fan of the red accents in the interior. i’ve never liked red interiors i don’t think they age well. dove grey probably is the worst tho.
    i’m excited to build my car when it gets here. i’m just an initial d enthusiast who happens to be a car guy and ordered an 86.
