  • I picked up an old Austin 7 engine and gearbox; so happened the entire chassis and drive shaft along with both axels and four wheels were also included at the grand total price of $100. I had to spend an entire day getting it from Connecticut;. But it's such a treasure trove of spares. I have the crazy idea that since Derek of Vice Grip Garage and Jennings from his channel can both start lost engines; maybe I can too? I don't have their skills, or resources. But I have grit and determination, and a 90 year old Father who has a wealth of knowledge about all things Austin 7. So here is the first part of the video of me trying to get this old wreck running...

I gave it a thumbs up, but not much content in this video. Just a couple of dudes looking an frame and engine.

Thanks for the thumbs up. I get what your saying. I'm gonna try and develop a little bit more content related to this engine in particular. I don't know if I can even get it started. It's seized! But I'm gonna try.

Your right! Even back in the 30’s someone put it in a motorcycle. My Dad once won a competition with a mate: they had to drive the car 15 feet, jump out unbolt the engine, then lift it out with their bare hands, run around the car while carrying the engine, then bolt it back in, start the car then drive 15 feet to the finish line…my Dad and his mate did it in 15 minutes… so it’s a small simple engine. You’d think I’d be able to start it more easily 🥹

And no electronics! Probably no brakes either!

Not even a wire...well one battery cable. Everything else is not there...and only half the distributor. Someone...in their wisdom cut off all the brake cables (yes brake cables; like a bike); so you're right. No brakes!

I agree with you; I’m thinking that I need to edit these some more and maybe if there are some interesting bits and pieces just edit out the boring stuff and end up with one less boring video with a shorter compilation of maybe more interesting stuff. Any advice is welcome.
