- The start of another bike to resurrect. This one belongs to my friend and I'm hoping to get it going for him and back on the road and trails. This video gets a good look at what I'll be working with over the next couple of weeks.

Thank you! I appreciate the compliment 👍
Cool bike , going to take a right good clean up and fettling to get it to run , but I'm sure you'll get there , enjoyable to watch .👍👍👍
That’s going to be such a cool old bike! I like how it uses a regular pleated automotive style air filter they don’t disintegrate like the foams ones do with age
Yeah I agree! I wasn’t expecting the filter to look like that when I opened it up lol
@@Garage2Trail my little 1968 Suzuki KT120 trail uses a pleated filter too. Still looks great after all these years.
I had one , or was terrible but still nice to see one again. Thanks 👍
It was definitely an eye opener working on that bike vs the Japanese bikes. Quality isn’t even close to the Japanese.
That carb is well roached be generous with the pb blaster that may need a couple trips to the sonic cleaner thingy😀
They make special screwdrivers just for carb jets. They are very worth it. Much easier to remove jets without damage. Also, it is pretty dicey to use an adjustable wrench on really tight fasteners. When I encounter the need to tap a fastener off, I try to use a box end wrench and a soft face hammer. Just offering some tips that could save you some money, time, or both down the line. You got yourself a challenge this time!
Thank you Matt, I really appreciate it. Any brand jet screwdrivers you can recommend?
@@Garage2Trail brands vary. I have ones that are very old! I have an old Stanley myself for pilots and the others I am not sure. If you can't find actual jet screwdrivers, look for a straight blade with what is called a "cabinet" tip. They are totally round shaft with no flare and a very straight taper. They work quite well too.
@@Muscleupsanddangles gotcha…awesome info, thanks again!
Wow I had that bike in the early 90's. Cagiva in Italy was doing these. Worse bike I ever owned :-) After 1 hour drive you need another 3 for the numbness to go away. Best massage you could get lol. I couldn't even see from the mirror due to shaking. I also needed to tighten the screws every week (no kidding) everything kept unscrewing and becoming loose from vibrations :-) It is good looking somehow but thats all to it :-) you will probably know what I mean if you already have restored it.
I agree 100%...cool looking bike, but very finicky and quirky. I did get this bike back to "rider" status...far from a full resto, but it still doesnt run perfect like it should. Its either got a coil issue or something else going on with the Delorto carb. My buddy got it back and was able to ride it around but it just doesnt want to clean up in the top end revs.
For your spark issue, start with unplugging the kill wire from the coil so there is no chance of a wiring issue. Then clean and gently sand the points. If they are really corroded and you sand a lot off of the silver tips it may need to be retimed but at least you will know you are generating juice and the coil charges and fires.
Might check the condenser after that if you are still no spark. I would bet a donut that your points are very dirty and that is the heart of that issue.
Good point! I’ll def start there.
If the points spark and there’s no spark to the plug it’s the condenser I wish I lived closer I’d gladly help with that one😀
I’m not sure but it seems it’s a standard ign not cdi you may need a battery
No battery needed , ohm the alternator pick up , clean alternator pick up contacts.
Any recommendations on where to find parts? I can’t seem to find any at all
