Whenever Harry does a cover of a song that he admires a lot, by an artist that he really respects, he doesn't change it. He doesn't do covers to do his version, he does covers cuz he's a massive fan of the original and wants to play the original. Especially if it's a classic. Cuz he wants to pay respect to the genius of that song. But if it's a more modern song that he just wants to have fun with, then he'll change it. Like when he performs One Direction songs live now on his own, he changes up the arrangements almost entirely to fit his sound and turn it into something new and different. I mean I get where u guys are coming from, wishing he had made it his own, but I don't necessarily agree and I dont think he would. He plays the classics how they are meant to be played, and that's the way they were created. If I respected a song and the way that it was written, I wouldn't want to get up on stage and change that. And plus he probably knows that if he were to ever change it, people would come for his throat.
Exactly, when ppl say “oh he didn’t make it his own…” they damn sure are the same fools who’d have a kitten if he changed it up…Hazza way too smart for that plus like you said he has mad respect for the classics…
Yessssssss! Exactly! And Harry absolutely won’t do a cover if he can’t do it flawlessly. His cover of Lizzo’s “Juice” is killer. He’s never going to half-a$$ it just for the sake of saying he covered a classic. If he can’t slay it, he’s not going to do it. I personally LOVE when artists pay homage to the original creator and don’t try to change it. It’s like… I love and respect what you did so much I’m not going to insult you by trying to show people I can do it better than you. Major kudos for that! 👏🏻👏🏻
Yes it's his band but a couple members have changed since. Mitch has always been his guitarist, Sarah' always been his drummer. He now has another percussionist Pauli, and bassist Elin.

Harry is on the Howard Stern show, today in fact (5/18/22). They are in a little studio...little hard to have a whole horn section in there. You should check out the interview they did. That was his band at the time, a few people have since been replaced. Peter really liked Harry's cover and tweeted about it/posted the video. Harry's 3rd album comes out 5/20/22. Hope you check out his first 2.
I think if Harry had changed the song in any way people would have criticised him . Harry only does covers of songs he loves so that’s why he stays true to the songs
Harry doesn’t usually change covers, because he wants to pay respect to the original artist. Just his way.
Found you guys through BTS and am happy to see you reacting to Harry Styles too! He does such great covers (Girl Crush, Ultralight Beam, and Big Yellow Taxi are some favorites of mine). I highly recommend his Tiny Desk Concert 💜

Not sure if best to make a song your own when it's a one off as he doesn't record covers, just does the odd one live. If you do make your own, half the population complain about that too.

Harry has sung with Stevie several times. He had her as a guest at his concert in 2017 at the Troubadour, when he was a mere 23-year-old baby (Leather and Lace and Landslide - he teared up when finishing Landslide her) and had her as a guest again in 2019 at the Forum. He also sang with her when he inducted her into the Hall of Fame for the 2nd time in 2019 (Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around in honor of Tom Petty). Harry played his second album, Fine Line, for Stevie at his house before he released it.

He's not singing covers there but he songs his 2 new songs from the album that comes out on Friday and people say they were amazing! I hope you guys get into more of Harry's music, he's an incredible artist often misjudged for starting in a boy band (which you'd also be surprised with some of their songs, I believe). But back to solo Harry, he's very inspired by the 70's and 80's music. You should definitely check out his first 2 albums "Harry Styles" and "Fine Line". I'd recommend "Kiwi" and "Only Angel" for first listens 😊 And ofc check out Harry's new album "Harry's House", he really went experimental with this one, it's so good!!!

About doing covers with your own spin..... Let me tell you a funny fact....
Harry covered his former one direction song WHAT MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL at live shows. He put his spin on it. Not a bad job tbh but the hilarity there was while Harry's up there singing his version, the entire crowd stubbornly sings the original version! 😂😂😂Its been a tug of war since 2017 till this day. 🙈🙈😂😂😂
It depends. Sometimes he covers songs in his own version like Girl Crush. But I think this one sounds great, so no complain.

As for movies that is hard for me to choose because I am an actor. So I have even more genres. I do have a fondness for action movies particularly 80's think Predator 🤣🤣🤣
The only thing I disliked about this cover, is you can't buy it. I usually hate covers with the exception of Joe Cocker & Richie Havens. Now there have been covers that were better than the original, those I like, for example All Along the Watch Tower. I have a whole section of music dedicated to covers better than the original.

Covering a song, make it yours or do the original. I think each their own, maybe you play try both and one just sounds right. Or maybe it the purpose of why are you doing that song in the first place. I think a song like this it's so fresh for this times and one's played by Harry Styles it is getting discovered by a new generation, or just a new big audience, so it's good for them to hear it just as great as it was.
