I don't usually comment on many videos but I will say i love your videos! I am watching pretty much al of them and I really enjoy them! Thanks for your hard work in making them and sharing them !!
Hi, Tristan! Your hat beats a 5" scar on the top of the head after a skin cancer removal! BTW, I love the hat and and so does my husband! We got one for working in the yard. So may hats don't protect the nec or the face, especially from the AM and PM sun. Thank you for another great tour of the West.
Sitting here in frigid temps (even for NE) & vicariously enjoying Utah’s rock formations, thanks to your efforts. Was first introduced to them in an issue of Audubon over 50 yrs ago. Still remember my awe then. Thanks for the memory and the present views! Happy New Year and good recovery.
I think that Utah has by far the best desert scenery in the US and arguably the best scenery in the US, period. It's an unbelievably pretty place. Thanks for watching and commenting, Edie!
What a trip... love those rocks! ... and cool when you find random things like that slab... always makes you wonder, what the heck it was there for...house, gov project, .... and your tortilla heater rack was muy bueno! :D
I love the rocks too. I'm a desert rat at heart and love all deserts, but southern Utah's red rock country is hard to beat IMO. And I see those slabs in the most random places and always scratch my head about why they're there and who made them. Just another desert mystery. Thanks Joe!
Tristan, I enjoy your videos, very informative. I will be checking out parts of Utah myself in the near future, in my own RAV4! Thanks for the good info.
Thanks Connie, fellow RAV4 owner :) I'm glad you like the videos! I've been to 34 countries and all over the US, but this part of Utah has got to be my favorite place in the world. There are just lifetimes of adventure to be had there.
Thanks Barb! To me, it's hard to beat the beauty of this area. I could go live as a hermit in a cave out there for the rest of my life and be content :)
I'm glad you wear that hat, my friend needs one, me too You should be told that the peace and serenity of these wonderful places your taking us just Radiates from you.......thanks for letting us in
I'm happy that you're enjoying these places. I think it's impossible to be in places like this and not be impressed by the peace and stillness. Thanks for watching.
👍This entire video was wonderful (even the tacos & cooking setup). I know you’re experienced hiker & climber but you at 6:00-9:00 😱 had me a tiny bit nervous because it sort of reminded me of the movie 127 Hours for some reason. 😔 Bummed you couldn’t find the inscription etc but glad you had a great hike & found a good camping spot. 🤗💞🤗
Nice video. I’ve been fortunate to have visited a few places in nature that seemed to have their own indwelling spirit. I imagine that hidden arch must be like that....
Yep, the arch was a really special place that not many people get to see or experience. I'm lucky to have gotten the chance. Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it!
That looks so so peaceful.....not sure I would be comfortable spending time with my self through the night. But I do love the tranquility during the day... you have some cool ideas for eating to ... yell loud so we can hear the echoes. Ty for sharing..Hope you are feeling better and have a Happy New Year. 🎊
Yep, I'm definitely feeling better and should be able to walk in a few more days. I love spending time by myself out in these areas. I live for those nights camped out alone in the middle of nowhere! But it's not everyone's cup of tea.
Beautiful country. The arches are amazing, but those roads. I think they were rougher than the trails. Wish you could have found the inscription. Next time. Another great day! Thanks for taking us along. Davin
The roads were washborded, but I think that basically any passenger vehicle would be able to make them if you drove slow enough. I will definitely find the inscription in the future! It's not listed in any guidebook, and the couple of sources of info for it online only very vaguely mention where it is. The GPS coordinates I thought I had for it were way off, like a couple of miles off. But I'll go back someday. Thanks for tagging along on the adventure, Davin.
Oh so glad to have stumbled upon this video! Thrilling hike up to the hidden arch few hikers get to see. This video reminds me of a book I read a couple of years ago, "Desert Solitaire" by Edward Abbey. Amazon states, "Hailed by the New York Times as a 'passionately felt, deeply poetic book' the moving autobiographical work of Edward Abbey, considered the Thoreau of the American West, and his passion for the southwestern wilderness." He worked as a park ranger and conservationist there and I felt I walked in his shoes as I read it. Used copies available on Amazon. I highly recommend it. And thank you for the video.
Thanks for recording and sharing your exploration of a relatively remote region of Arches National Park. I appreciate the effort you put into recording yourself hiking and climbing away from the camera.
It's definitely more work to record the hiking and climbing than it otherwise would be, but it's fun to share the adventure. Thanks for watching and commenting, Noel.
This is a part of the world that not everyone gets to see, so I'm really happy that I get to share it through these videos. I absolutely love this area. Thanks Chris Tina.
Pretty low, I think, just because they are very solitary creatures. I've only seen one in all of the hundreds of days I've spent wandering around in Utah, and that was in the canyon closest to Salt Lake City!
Yep, there are several ways into Arches that aren't the main paved road. I think this is the only one that is dirt but still doesn't require a Jeep or other super-high-clearance vehicle. And yes, Utah is just unbelievably beautiful, especially this part of the state. Thanks Dean.
Thanks Eddy, I''m glad you like them. This kind of landscape speaks for itself. I just have to point my camera at it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
There are a lot of beautiful places in a lot of states, but I don't know if any state can beat Utah for sheer density of beautiful places. You can go basically anywhere in the state and it will be pretty. Thanks Carol.
I was sleeping on a cot outside on a camping trip in Nevada and it was a very cold night and in the morning there were mountain lion tracks literally right next to my cot that were not there before I went to bed. Still creeps me out...but cool too.
Hi Tristan, can you do a video on your ceiling cargo net install? I think it's super creative and create so much extra space for those who don't have a rooftop storage option. Thanks
Loved this video, and your climbing adventures, that canyon was amazing!! Also I am "stealing" your grill idea. OMG, but that is cool . Easy and much better tasting for your tortillas to be warm like that. I feel cold tortillas are something like eating a pages from a book (speaking of which not the one you held up-- and I wrote the book on that and here it is :D). Keep it up my friend. Thanks. (BTW, don't know if this would suit you, but Pack it Gourmet, Amazon and others have dehydrated sour cream. Might be an option.)
The grill works great! Yeah, cold tortillas are no bueno, for sure. Hmmm, I'm not sure dehydrated sour cream interests me much, but it might be worth checking out. Thanks for the tip.
That cluster of red sandstone formations is called Devil's Garden. The freestanding tower standing off by itself at the far right is called Dark Angel, and I climbed it several years ago at like 5.9 C0 or something and two pitches long. Great little climb with amazing views.
Wow, that is definitely one of the more impressive arches and so few people have probably seen it. I'm no rock climber but climbing up seems OK but how in the world do you climb back down? That's always been the worst part for me.
I've been to all of the major arches in the park, and this one was really special for how remote it was and how alone I was out there. Yeah, climbing back down is tricky. You've just got to be sure as you're climbing up that you can reverse the moves, and if you can't, don't keep going up!
Awesome! My best advice is to just not overthink it. Try to go on a couple of overnight trips with very little gear, and then add back only what you need. Having too much stuff is worse than having not enough. Good luck!
Great video and thanks for sharing! Goofy hat > skin cancer. Your taco < betos. Your pronunciation of the name sounded right. Based on the French I know!
I don't usually comment on many videos but I will say i love your videos! I am watching pretty much al of them and I really enjoy them! Thanks for your hard work in making them and sharing them !!

Yes, it absolutely does! It's a great hat. Thanks for watching :)

👍👍👍 Your “perspective” shots are great! That’s the only way we know how big everything is!! 👍👍👍
Tristan, I enjoy your videos, very informative. I will be checking out parts of Utah myself in the near future, in my own RAV4! Thanks for the good info.

Always enjoy your videos And you do a great job of it! What a beautiful area you were hiking in. You’ll find it next time my friend! 👍👍👍😎🇨🇱
I have another video where I do indeed go back and find it 😁
Another great video of the beautiful southwest scenery. Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks Barb! To me, it's hard to beat the beauty of this area. I could go live as a hermit in a cave out there for the rest of my life and be content :)

Don't worry, I'll find the inscription next time! :)
+ SUV RVing - 👍I hope you do because I’m tempted to go looking for it. 😁

Sorry you didn’t find the inscription! But you did find the Arch! Dinner looked good!❤️😀🇺🇸🌏🚙

The rock climbing was very impressive and the scenery was beautiful. Once again, a great video!

I first read Desert Solitaire when I was about 14. Great book! Thanks for watching, Karen.
i am sure those cans are worth something... they need to be sent to the Smithsonian lol HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WISHING ALL LOTS OF TRAVELS
Lol, maybe I can fund my future trips that way :) Thanks Mimi! Happy New Year to you too.
Wow! Thank you for taking us along. I’ve been there and it is s beautiful place.
I love it. It's one of my favorite national parks. Really unique area. Thanks Kathryn.

Beautiful video.....love that area. Hope you’re recuperating well!
I love it too. Yep, I'm recovering well. So far, so good. Thanks Bette!
What are the odds of running into a mountain lion in these parts? Absolutely love this part of Utah. Stunning scenery.
Pretty low, I think, just because they are very solitary creatures. I've only seen one in all of the hundreds of days I've spent wandering around in Utah, and that was in the canyon closest to Salt Lake City!
Tristan. I didn't know there was a back way into Arches. Thanks for letting us tag along with you! Love Utah.

Everything about your videos is A-1 class. So blessed to have found your’s!🙏🏻👍🏻
Thanks, I'm glad you like them!
Your videos are spectacular. This one was great. I love Utah as there is so much to explore.
Thanks Eddy, I''m glad you like them. This kind of landscape speaks for itself. I just have to point my camera at it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Very interesting landscape.
I love it. To me, it's the most beautiful terrain in the country.
nice campsite, good arch to wander around, I'm sold...thanks for sharing, let you know if I find the inscription...
That was amazing! So very cool. Thanks for taking us along.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching :)
You always find such great places! Hope you're recovery is going well. Happy New Year!
Mostly I just try to find places where I can be alone :) Thanks Paula.
The views were amazing as usual. Utah is a beautiful state. I love the red rocks, reminds me of western movies...LOL Thanks for sharing!
There are a lot of beautiful places in a lot of states, but I don't know if any state can beat Utah for sheer density of beautiful places. You can go basically anywhere in the state and it will be pretty. Thanks Carol.
I always enjoy your videos. You always take me on a real adventure.
Thanks Ida! That's great to hear :)
golden oldie. thx, 5yrs ago wow

Hi Tristan, can you do a video on your ceiling cargo net install? I think it's super creative and create so much extra space for those who don't have a rooftop storage option. Thanks
It really does work great. It's a product I made designed and made myself and will be offering for sale on my site in February. Stay tuned!
The hat reminds me of Pluto or Goofy but absolutely smart to wear it.
Another great video!
Thanks :)

Well I have not tried it, just saying it is out there.
So cool to see Dark Angel.
It's a cool formation. There are actually some awesome petroglyphs just downhill from Dark Angel. Probably the best ones in the national park.
Thanks for sharing the adventure! Beautiful country and filming.. If only the rocks could speak more loudly.
Safe travels! 🚘
Thanks for watching, Crazy Lady, I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
There are supposed to be Burrow Owls out in the prairie dog town in that area
Huh, interesting. I've seen those owls in California but never in Utah. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled next time I'm in the area.
SUV RVing there was a ranger in Arches NP that told me that you will see them sharing the land with the prairie dogs.
Beautiful views!
Yep, it's a beautiful place. Thanks Carol!
What about the two sunlight spots coming through when you looked up to top of arch. Could that be sibling.
View at 16:42 is awesome!
That cluster of red sandstone formations is called Devil's Garden. The freestanding tower standing off by itself at the far right is called Dark Angel, and I climbed it several years ago at like 5.9 C0 or something and two pitches long. Great little climb with amazing views.
Do you carry a SPOT device , to call for in case you fall?
I don't, but I know I should. I'd like to get one this year. Or at least a PLB.
Please get one. I go into mommy worry mode when you are climbing.
Excellent
Your videos are awesome.
I noticed that you never build a fire. Do you just prefer to not do that or is there a rule out there that limits fires?
Was this before your operation ... thanks
Yep, this was back in October. Thanks for watching.
Great videos men👌
Thanks!
Weren’t you afraid of that mountain lion?
Nope

Hope you had a great X-mas :)
Yep I did, thanks. I hope you had a good one too. Happy New Year!
To you too :) Your New Year will be full of travel and great video content and SUV adaptions :) looking forward to 2018 :) All the best my friend.
Happy New Year
Thanks Carol. Happy New Year to you too.
just bought a highlander and plan on doing something similar to this over summer in Oregon for 2-4 weeks, any advice for someone just starting out?
Awesome! My best advice is to just not overthink it. Try to go on a couple of overnight trips with very little gear, and then add back only what you need. Having too much stuff is worse than having not enough. Good luck!
I'll admit it. Really watched this video because of "Tacos".
Can't go wrong with tacos!
Great video and thanks for sharing! Goofy hat > skin cancer. Your taco < betos. Your pronunciation of the name sounded right. Based on the French I know!
Yep, skin cancer sucks lol. I like Beto's, but there was definitely nothing wrong with those tacos! Mmmm. Just needed some sour cream...
Keep wearing the hat.
I plan on it!
Nice hat 🎩 🧢 say no to skin cancer lol
Lol yep!
Have you ever fallen?
In my opinion, French tended to trade better with Indians than English or Spanish.
I don't know anything about trading in that era, so I'll take your word for it! Thanks Leslie.
Good video, beautiful place ! ! ! Come discover my new video about my mud hut. Thank you very much and happy new year ! ! !
Instead of your face point the camera at scenery
Tacos & arches (not the golden arches) 😉 Enjoy all your videos but this one in particular had great rock formations. 🥾🏔🇨🇦❤️
