  • Today, we dive into Springfield Armory's micro compact offering, the Hellcat Pro. We'll discuss why I think that this firearm is, hands down, one of the best I've ever owned for concealed carry.
    We'll explore the features that set the Hellcat Pro apart from its competitors in the micro compact segment. From its design and comfortable ergonomics, the benefits of its controls, its impressive magazine capacity, down to its flawless performance at the range.
    I'll walk you through how I've personally set up my Hellcat Pro, and explore other aftermarket offerings to suit your preferences. Yes, people still have preferences in 2023.
    And with Red Dot Optics gaining massive popularity, it's only fair for me to touch on the Holosun 507K. Is it a match made in heaven for the Hellcat Pro?
    Let's find out as I share my insights on what I'd do differently if I had a chance to set it up all over again.
    Enjoy!

    I picked up my Hellcat Pro about 2 months ago. Added a Crimson Trace red dot (no modifications or plates) and installed the Apex trigger. Still breaking her in with under 300 rounds, but it has been rock solid so far. Great video all around.

    Excellent video as always. I want to add to the conversation about the recoil buss. Yes they are too tall and I’ve had people comment about filling them down just enough for the Holosun to fit flush. My issue there is the diameter of them is nowhere near large enough compared to the holes in the optic. That means they won’t give the stability under recoil they are supposed to give. Adding a plate is the only way to go. People cry about plates and how they create failure points and co witness. I don’t think any of that matters compared to using a good optic and it being stable

    • @parunbelhomme
      @parunbelhomme  Год назад

      Thanks a lot Mike. You're right about the diameter of those posts. However, for whatever reason, mine seemed a bit too far apart for the sockets to even cover the tip of those posts. Couldn't tell if the sockets were out of spec or not. I failed my CNC certs lol.
      I've seen videos of people filling those front posts down. Thought about it, but didn't want to risk it with my friend's unsteady hands 🤣.
      I must admit that I never had issues with plates before, until I had to work for them. FN and S&W will just give them all to you at no extra charge, which is great. But now companies like Walther will have you request one, and wait for it to arrive whenever it does.
      The other issue I've run into is finding the right screws depending on the optic and plate you use. For instance, when I mounted the Gowutar (RMR footprint) on my friend's M&P, I had to go through 3 different types of screws to find one with the most threads of engagement. The recommended screws were too short. I'm talking 2 to 3 threads going in the slide, at most. While, S&W offers one of the deepest holes I've seen so far.
      Believe it or not, I had to do the same thing with my 509. On the comped slide, I'm running a 507C with screws recommended for one of the Vortex optics (Razor or Venom) just to get more threads of engagement in the slide. Don't ask me how I know. Let's just say, I never thought I'd spend $15 on a single screw. That still hunts me to this day lol. And rumor has it, that recommended RMR screw is still laying on the ground somewhere, in a range far, far away...

      You mean any K footprint model right? I don't see a 507 C sitting on that thing.

    Dump that walther pps and purchase a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus micro. I shot the regular version and it’s incredibly accurate and easy on recoil. I can’t imagine the feeling of the plus… can’t go wrong.

      @parunbelhomme  7 месяцев назад +2

      That Shield Plus shoots like a bigger gun and is impressively accurate for such a short barrel. A friend of mine owns one and it always puts a smile on my face when I shoot it. It's like my brain can't link the small form factor and it's shootability for lack of a better term.
      Solid pick up. I just wish it had a full grip without the mag inserted.

    there's no way this can be considered a "micro" pistol - compact -

      @@parunbelhomme because its dimensions are too big. I know theres no consensus in the gun world but to me these “macros” and “pros” have moved out of micro and into subcompact.

      I mean I get it. The semantics in the 2A community is its own community. But if we elect to call these "micros" subcompact, what should we do with the subcompact then?
      Look, if it was up to me, I'd call all "micros" "slimcompact" but what do I know?! 🤷🏾‍♂️
