i dont care what anyone says, when i watched the show last night he stole the show and had to give a standing ovation during the curtain call. im young and queer and one day i want to have his level of confidence, charisma, and showmanship. while the engineer as a character clearly has its flaws, i think seann's portrayal as an ambitious and bold individual who wants to live a successful life will, in a way, speak to people like it spoke to me. i dunno, this performance was just really special.
I didn't know what to make of his overly queer/raunchy interpretation at first, I mean coming from the likes of Jonathan Pryce, Leo Valdez ... but come to think of it the Engineer himself grew up without a father figure.. his French dad wasn't around very often so he was mostly under the care of his mom and he was exposed to prostitution at a young age... I dunno, think of all that childhood trauma and baggage that could have influenced him to take on an outrageous personality to escape from reality.
I've watched several iterations of Miss Saigon and for me this interpretation of the Engineer makes more sense as much as people would like to dismiss it.
As a fan of Leo Valdez' classic style from the Manila proshot from 24 years, Seann's performance here was something exciting, original, charismatic, and wonderfully inventive. #EnginQueer
Seann Miley Moore is gorgeous, fun and has immense talent! I realized however that I prefer the traditional, "straight" or should I say crooked, sleazier and shadier type of Engineer. He's more bar girl than pimp. His potrayal is very now tho and will bring in a lot of new audience.
No hate on the actual actor (he's great and just doing his job) but it was a weird choice to make the most villainous/shallow character the only gay one. Also the same character that is always called out as a racial stereotype. Not exactly an "empowering" role for gay asian people. Stuffy old people will be mad that they changed it, and younger crowds will be offended by the bad stereotypes. What's the point of all the changes???
Well I'm a young bisexual man, from the Philippines, and I love this change and I'm not offended. Because it reminds me so much of the fabulous queer coded villains from Disney movies. Also, here in the Philippines, many gay people are these feminine girlish people and people love it. The actor himself says, that he's just impersonating his Filipino aunts. I love it so much "The American Dream" song is supposed to be fabulous, and all the straight masculine guys who portray it aren't really good in my opinion. Having a gay guy do it, in a feminine queer way, certainly did.
@@Clayton-m9x Well I did. Also you have to admit, some of the lyrics that the Engineer says is pretty gay. Like "Fat, like a chocolate eclair, as you suck out the cream".

This guy was the best part of the show for me, me and the crowd absolutely loved him.
His voice in his interjections is very Jon Jon like ❤
With also a sprinkle of Leo Valdez, and a hint of Marina Summers
