A family friend upgraded their machine and give me their old one (which was this) and I've never had a coffee machine before. Well I am so grateful to them and cant wait to use it in the morning. Thanks for the review
*This replaced a smaller Keurig that I owned for 6 years **MyBest.Kitchen** I wanted the convenience of the water receptacle and while this unit is much larger than the previous one, I'm very happy with my purchase. The only downside to this larger model is having to move it from under the cabinets to place the pod and refill it. I was able to rectify this by purchasing glide mats for small appliances. Now, it's perfect!*
That's great
Thanks for the review! Just placed my order.
Thanks for the review. I'm searching for a new grind & brew and this is very helpful for comparison.
Thanks for your comment. Hope you end up with the perfect machine for your kitchen! Bon Appetit!
Thanks for the instructions they were great. Much better than reading the instructions.
Great video!!!!! Thanks for sharing, I just got mine and I love it!!!
Great review!
such a good review, cheers.
Great reveiew!
Thank you for your review.
Glad you liked it. Hope it helped! Much more reviewing and cooking coming soon now that Covid is no longer a hamper to my video productions. Stay tuned! Cheers!
Great video, thanks!
Hey just ordered from your link provided because of your video review. Thank you for making it and I hope you get a great kick back.
Thank you! You'll love it! Still making two carafes full every day!
Just ordered myself this coffee machine. I as well enjoy a strong brew. Can’t wait!
Glad you found the review helpful! Enjoy your new machine!!
Great video😀
Hi! Thanks for the review! I enjoyed it a lot 😊 How many setting are there for the coffee beans grinder?
Strong coffee got him messing with the slow cooker
I had the original Cuisinart Grind and Brew and almost was in tears when it finally took its last breath. Sometimes when I read really negative reviews on products, I can almost bet on the fact the reviewer didn't read the manual that comes with the product. After my husband passed away , I went to the single serve K cup coffee maker. After stumbling through what seemed like 99 different K cups, it just didn't do it for me, so I made the executive decision to go back to grinding beans. If you're a true lover of coffee, dark, with a lot of body and not ''flavored" coffees, then you really have to grind those beans, and the fact that I can make 4 cups at a time, helps, although I can drink coffee by the gallon, especially if it's a good strong brew. Thank you for an excellent review, and I'm now a subscriber, since I'm a kitchen gadget junkie and also an avid gardener. So glad I stumbled on your review. It told me everything I needed to know.
Thank you! I'm a little behind on videos due to a recent family emergency that has taken a lot of our time, but now that it has passed, you can expect weekly videos and reviews. The next one will be on an inexpensive but surprisingly effective auto-peeler! Cheers, and Bon Appetit!
Have the same model, only in a thermal carafe; one key feature I enjoy from this model is the self-cleaning bur grinder mode that works after every cycle. The only real maintenance to this maker is cleaning the grind basket and descaling. Excellent engineering from Cuisinart!
I agree wholeheartedly. Still using every day without an issue...ever!
Great information SE.....looking forward to the chicken soup!
Thanks for the comment Harold. The Chicken soup came out great! Check out the video. Cheers!
Thank you for the video. I tried to buy the same and I got only 10 cup instead. But still the same machine. I like the sealing on top of bean container. I wish it was tinted too
Elis, had the cuisinart 800 for about a year. My question is how do you clean the grinders , and also finding the coffee a little week lately. Any way, it’s a great machine, and suggestions we like the coffee very strong and I missed your cleaning method. Thank you, excellent review
exelent Thanks you are realyy good Thanks
Nice review. How do you clean the grinders and how often? Thanks!
I can’t figure that out either!
I just ordered the DGB-700, because of the glass carafe. If I'd seen the DGB-800 with a glass carafe I would have spent the few extra dollars, because I like the display size far better.
Excellent review. I loved the detail. I just ordered this coffee maker. Quick question: am I correct in assuming you just leave the beans in the top for everyday storage until they’re all used? I live alone and usually make the minimum (aka 4 cups) so you fill it and just leave it? Do the beans stay fresh? Also, how many (weight) beans does it hold? Thanks.
Yes...just fill it up. The lid is airtight and keeps the beans somewhat fresh. Don't know how much "weight" it holds, but for us making a full pot every morning, a full bin will last for at least 4-5 days before needing to be refilled. We've been using this coffeemaker for over a year and at least one pot everyday if not more on some. Never a failure, and the only maintenance has been to decalcify the unit about once every month or two. (Instructions to do that are easy and in the manual). Enjoy your new machine!!
great info - your mic is a little crispy (loud/clipping) - but the content was great!
Thank you! :)
thanks for the video. i would have rather had a see thru carafe but oh well :( i have a 10 cup version.
How do you set the amount of cups you want? I’ve just started putting in the amount of water
Have you found a way to set the timer and turn off the grinder on this model. We had an older model that did this. When it broke last year, after 9 years - We bought this model and it doesn't seem to have the ability to set timer and not grind. Sometimes we like to used a holiday blend from Trader Joe's that comes only ground (but is fantastic!). We'd like to set it and forget it though! The other issue that we found with the 800 model is that if you don't pour it slowly it does leak from the carafe top. The previous model has a slight leak, but even with the top snapped tightly on the glass carafe, it still leaks. The third issue that I found was that this model is plastic on the sides, not metal like the last one. It looks like the plastic is warping after daily use since Sept 2019. We are going to call Cuisinart to see if any of these issues may be common. The grind off / timer feature was useful, even if we do 99% of the time prefer fresh ground. With all that said, we do use this machine daily like the previous, it does make a good cup of joe!
Is it possible to stream into travel mug...loved your preview,,,tks
I would not recommend trying to do that. Better to brew the coffee into the carafe and then pour into a travel mug. Thanks for the question. Cheers!
In the Elf's Kitchen and Backyard. Thank you for your time...
Intended to buy DGB-700BC (which was top machine per CR 2019 reviews), but realized after purchase that Best Buy routed me to the 800. It makes a great cup of coffee. Trying to figure out the timer. Do you have a video on setting the timer?
Hi, Sorry I don't have a video of that. I'm not sure how to use the timer because we never use it. We make our coffee when we want it at that moment.
By the way, make sure you learn the method of decalcifying the coffee maker. When yours starts to seem slow, run the instructions for the process (with 1/3 vinegar and water), and it will instantly speed it back up! We are still VERY happy with ours! Cheers.
Hello,
Thank you for the wonderful review! I was just wondering if the coffee maker does a good job with keeping the coffee hot once it is brewed? I love a good hot cup of coffee and my current maker does not hold up when it comes to the worming plate. Thanks again for your time and cheers to a good cup of coffee!!!
Thank for the response! The warmer's factory default is two hours of warming, but it can be set for between 0-4 hours. Two years running every day, and still going strong! Just a decalcification run every month or two with 1/3 regular vinegar and water and it's back to full speed!
So I have a question I purchased the same coffee pot the DGB 800 and love it, but it seems to make some gurgling noises even after the coffee is brewed can you tell me if yours does also, he like talks to you little bit it’s kind of strange, but everything is delicious in the coffee is good and it goes on and shuts off but it still makes a little bit of noises even after it’s brued
Looking for the height dimension of the 800c coffee maker if you can help
Thanks for the review. I'm shopping for a new grinder and brewer. So far I've narrowed down to this one and Cuisinart DGB-550BKP1 for $100 less. I don't know if it worth the extra $100 or not. Hope you can help me with some idea.
Thanks for your reply and question. A couple of points... The 550 can only hold enough beans for a single carafe run. YOu have to take the hopper out to fill every time...which IS time! The 800 can hold enough beans for at least 5-7 runs and is easier to fill just by lifting the top cover. The 550 has SOME useful settings, but the 800 is fully programmable for amount of coffee to be made and the strength you want that coffee. (For us, we love DARK French Roast and a little experimentation ended up with a consistently repeatable brew). The 550 is cheaper...and it LOOKS cheaper to be honest.
Nonetheless, it will still make you a good pot of coffee, so it really is a choice for you to make. I can tell you that after over a year of daily use, making at least one, and often two pots ever day, we have ZERO issues with the 800, and have only had to decalcify with a Vinegar and water run through the system about every two months which brings it immediately back to full speed brewing and great operation! Cheers!
Thanks a lot for the quick response and advise. I'll place an order today.
Good job, old sport
I recently purchased this machine to replace my old DCC-700c which we enjoyed for 12+ years. I wish I could say the same about this new machine. I didn’t get the water filter but that is no big deal as we never used it on our old machine. My problem with this new machine is the glass carafe. It leaks like a sieve. I can’t fill the machine with the carafe because it leaks around the plastic rim no matter how slow or fast I pour. This is even more of a problem when the pot is full of fresh brewed coffee. More pours on the counter or on my feet than in the cup. This is a definite dangerous serious faulty hazard. Still waiting to hear from the company.
How do you clean it??
We have the same cuisinart but our grinder is not working properly
Call Customer Support at Cuisinart. They are VERY helpful! Have your serial number handy when you call. 800-726-0190. Please write another response with what they tell you or do for you! Cheers!
It says clean , I clean all the time, How do I clean is their any different?
Like example if i did brew buttons 4 i put 12 cup water to tank i start button on why using all of water 12 cup!!!
Why doesn’t use water only 4 cup level thanks
you know what I like most about this model, that they removed the ability to clean it.
Always best to buy new machines.
I have this coffee maker from Cuisinart and the coffee it makes is shit weak WHY ?
because it grinds extremely coarse and you cant adjust the grind.
I kept it because the bright display and you can bypass the grinding part and use preground coffee.
If you want an automatic coffee maker with adjustable grinding go for the Breville, it costs bit more but I'm sure you'll appreciate that you can adjust the grinding mechanism making your coffee stronger and more tasteful.
Hi, Elf. I had the older model of this unit, which allowed access to the burr grinder by lifting out the hopper. I bought the model you feature in this video as a replacement. My question is HOW does one reach the grinder? Grinders do need a clean out to insure good flow of grounds. I am concerned that things are backed up in the new unit. Very surprised access seems impossible. Cuisinart will not provide answers. Thanks!
Hi Peter,
I don't know how to answer that. We have never had a problem with the grinder in the two years we have been using this daily. Our only maintenance required has been an occasional descaling due to the hardness of our water. That procedure only requires vinegar and water and has the instructions for the process in the users manual. The flow of grounds in our machine has not been hampered in any way for two years, and we have seen no indication of a flow reduction...even with the use of oily Dark Roast beans at times.
Are you still happy today with the machine? Just bought it. THANKS!
Absolutely! We make at least one full pot every single day...sometimes three! The key is to decalcify the machine about once a month. The instructions are clear and it keeps the brewer running at the right speed for making a full pot. It's still the BEST we have ever had! Really! Bon Appetit!
very happy
So my question is, it's now Feb 2020, how its this unit, do you still use it, any issues?!
We still use it EVERY SINGLE DAY...and sometimes more than once a day! Still running like a champ, and the only maintenance we have had to do is the occasional descaling using regular vinegar and water mix as instructed in the users guide! Cheers!
Does the "grind control" select the amount of water that'll get infused, or does it juste control the amount of coffee for the amount of water you put in the tank? Does it always just emptys the whole tank for a brew?
no, you have to pour in the correct amount of water to match how much you set it to grind yourself each time, ie, if you tell it to grind 6 cups, measure and pour 6 cups for water using the carafe
@@TreeRoot577 thank you very much for your reply! Cleared that for me!
If I fill my reservoir to 12 and select only 4 cups, mine will brew over 12. I’d like to keep my reservoir full but every time I add water the machine tries to brew again. Does yours do this?
I had the same problem with mine too. After researching I found your water level should match your cup level. Before my coffee was weak as I kept my reservoir full. Now I set my water level to agree with the cup setting.
Just got one and it seems to make the coffee too strong. Even on the weak setting. What am I doing wrong?
We had the same issue and solved it by setting the number of cups to 8 even though we used a full carafe. Let me know how that works for you! Cheers!
I had issues with weak coffee. I set the settings to max strength and unfortunately gave me a weak pot of coffee any suggestions please
Make sure you set the number of cups to maximum (12) regardless of how much water you are actually using...and the strength to full. That will give you maximum.
@@ElfChef Thanks will give a shot and let you know
When I only need 4 cups. I set the dial to 4 and I still get 8 to 10 cups. So I don't know what their definition is of "one cup" of coffee. But it's definitely not a regular size coffee cup. Otherwise, this unit is fantastic.
Only fill your carafe with 4 cups-worth of water and that's what you'll end up with. The 4-cup setting is for coffee strength, not how much will be percolated. Cheers!
Hi, I follow every step
but when I touch the grinder ; it says EMPTY EMPTY
Open the basket holder and close it again till it snaps. Then try hitting the start button again.
How hot is the coffee?
Just under burning your lips! Perfect temp, and the unit can be set to keep warm for up to four hours.
Grinder is slow
I hate this product. So complicated
Shay Shay that’s why they created Keurig machines for you
