    Those were newborns. I'm so happy the mother was right there. Good work teaching your daughter the, "hands off," approach. By giving the mother deer time and space, she returned to her motherly duties. A very touching video! Thank you for sharing!💟🦌💟

      Did you see the follow up videos? They often were leaping around playing near their grazing mother. Very therapeutic watching them after a long busy day! :)

      I’m sorry, but that “hands off-mother won’t accept them” it’s just an absolutely absurd myth. We have found MANY fawns, we have always pampered them, care of them and their mothers have never rejected any of them. In fact, they can feel their babies are safe with us and they come back very often to leave them in our yard. Respect animals, love animals.

    • @huckaday
      @huckaday  3 года назад +2

      @@eduardovillalon7496 I think she meant to leave them alone so the mother can find them and so that they don't imprint on us instead. If the Mother is nearby, it is ALWAYS best to leave them alone. The less human contact the better. You WANT them to be scared of humans. YOU know that you are kind, but the next human they may contact might only see them as a meal.
      Not to forget that many mother deers will fight to the death to protect their babies, they can seriously injure, or kill a person with those front hooves.
      There are many videos of mother deer attacking people and their pets to protect their young. I strongly suggest doing a search. I wouldn't ever want my kids thinking that it is OK to pick up a fawn without an adult first assessing the situation fully to see if it really is a "rescue" and not "kidnapping". If Mama deer is a protective doe, it could cost a child their life!
      It's always best to stand back and watch from afar... Looking back, I spent far too long there myself. It was stupid. I have more knowledge, and a zoom lens now! 😊
      Its just too bad that I don't still own this hobby farm. I miss living with of such beautiful events like this surrounding us. Now it's just a bird feeder in the middle of town. 🙁
      Thanks for your comments. These are great conversations. And honestly, I don't mean to chastise or talk down to you... I just want to make sure you and your kids are safe. I totally understand that draw to such adorableness. .. I've been raised in the woods and know WAY better, but still couldn't resist! But if not for your safety, then for the safety of those baby deer, please let them be afraid of people... it's what's best for them. 😊

    • @huckaday
      @huckaday  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for your comment. It is actually very normal for mother deer to hide their babies in the grass while they eat grass nearby, and came back and let them nurse for the first time and then laid down with them for the night. Their mother was often grazing close in a nearby field. Scientists think that they purposely hide them away from her, so that the predators, such as mountain lions, bears and wolves will have a harder time hunting them when they are not easy to find at the Mothers side. They also say that they have little to no scent for the predators to track them. Usually they will lay completely flat and very still for hours, waiting for their Mother.
      Often people find them this way and believe that the Mother abandoned them or is dead, but in fact, she is usually very close by. Well meaning people take these babies away and then sadly they often need to be bottle fed by humans when they cannot be reunited. The mother will move on if she cannot find them. They are much better left in the wild, raised by their own Mother.
      If you check my channel, I have other videos showing these same babies months later with their Mother, running and playing. They spent all Summer in our and our neighbors fields. It was a gift from nature to let us observe these beautiful babies grow up. Unfortunately, we moved away that September, so we didn't get to see them after that. We had watched the Mother deer for years in our field. She trusted us and knew that we wouldnt hurt her. We think this was her first set of fawns.I sure miss living on that small hobby farm.

    • @huckaday
      @huckaday  5 лет назад +1

      It depends on where you are from. Here in BC Canada they don't kill baby fawn unless they are injured and can't be rehabilitated. But in almost all cases, when you see a baby fawn...just leave it alone. The mother is almost always nearby grazing somewhere. Too many well meaning humans kidnap babies thinking that they are abandoned when they are not. The mother of these babies was just in the next field.

    • @huckaday
      @huckaday  5 лет назад +5

      No. Here in "Hoserland" (lol) we have many Wildlife rescue places that bottle feed them. I've been to many myself. Often many "rescued" babies were not really orphaned at all, but well meaning city folks, or those uneducated about wildlife will "rescue" them, thinking they were orphaned. Most are not. Mom has them hide as she grazes, often for hours. The only time to take them is if they are crying and mom doesn't eventually show up...or if you KNOW mom is dead. The only time they put down the babies here, (in BC anyway) is if they are very ill/injured and not able to be nursed back to health. I'm sure they have Wildlife rescues in the states too. Maybe you are thinking of bears? If bears keep returning to human areas, they often will be shot because they become dangerous if they are not afraid of people....completely a human caused issue and preventable by simply using bear proof garbage cans and not leaving any food/fruit laying around to attract them. Very sad.

After working so hard on the editing and looking perfect on the previews, I was so disappointed when I published it, and saw that it had reduced the text so much. I was using wondershare editing software. It seems to be an issue when you use a HD quality video and gets messed up in the conversion to the final product. I got frustrated because I had family waiting to view it, so I just went ahead and posted it, never expecting so many views years later. ;)

    omg! stop filming and go away that the mother of the twins come back!

    • @huckaday
      @huckaday  3 года назад

      It is a myth that the Mother won't come back if you touch or stand close to fawns. (Or for that matter, also other young animals, baby birds etc.) Many are reunited successfully.
      This myth was probably started as a stern warning to stop children from disturbing, picking up or handling baby animals. (Even I used that one with my kids. And it worked, they didn't touch these fawns and came running to tell me instead.) But unfortunately, that myth also gave the misconception that people should remove/kidnap the babies for hand raising if they have been touched or disturbed. (Thinking that the Mother will never return.) Like humans, a wild animal's motherly instinct is very strong. It would take a whole lot to get them to never come back.
      In most situations, it is best to call a professional Wildlife rehabilitation Centre to get advice before doing anything. And to only watch from afar. A mother deer can leave their babies all day long before returning.
      That all said, I am assuming by your hastily written comment, that you haven't first read my other comments, or watched the other updates posted about these fawns, (And thier mother) to get the full story. I can see that it was written very impulsively, but I know it came from a warm and caring heart for innocent animals. We have that in common. So in case you do not have the time to view the other videos, which are just as adorable, I promise you...I'd like to ease your mind that all turned out wonderfully for this little family.
      I did not handle them, and only took a quick video and then cleared out. (Especially when they started to imprint on me!) If you watch this, and the other videos I posted, you will see that the Mother is very nearby and not only returns within a few hours, but spent most of that summer with her babies, safe in our back field. (See other videos)
      I was very lucky to be able to watch them grow from my home. I have mentioned all of this in many comments, and also that the Mother has been grazing alongside of our farm animals for years and is not threatened by us at all.
      Thank you for your concern.

      I was filming. I was alone. It was on my property. There wasn't any other people filming or watching. I did everything correctly, and as was shown a little later in the video, (taken with a zoom lens from the roof of my house) the mother came back within the hour. I updated the description to explain this further. We got to see them almost everyday!
      ruclips.net/video/26jtx9zoQ1o/видео.html
      This is the updated video taken a few weeks later showing that the fawn were thriving within the safety of our field. We were very lucky to have been able to watch this little family grow from our home.
      Deer are very common here on Vancouver Island. They do not scare from humans very easily. You will see more deer than stray dogs and cats wandering the streets here.
      As I said before, she wouldn't have abandoned her fawn just because I looked at them for a few minutes.There wouldn't be any deer left on the planet if they abandoned their babies that easily!! Lol
      I was only there because I needed to investigate what my children had told me. I brought my camera to capture the beautiful moment that I found them, so I could share it with my family and friends. I didn't expect it to become such a popular video, but I am very happy to share such a magical moment in my life.
      It is especially a great memory, because I am now seriously sick, and bedridden. I do not get to see nature like that anymore. Sadly, we have also long since moved away from that area. And I sure miss it. I often wonder what became of those fawn and if they have come back to have thier babies there too! 😊

      They are NOT RIP. Stop lying. This was years ago, and I watched them grow up all season.
