Thank you rescuers for finding and saving her quickly from the river, BUT sticking around and keeping the EXTRA eye on her even after advised to release back to nature! You've essentially saved her TWICE!
No. Does will look for their fawns for about 3 days. They should have left her, come back with food the next day to check on her. Fawns are ALWAYS hungry, LOL! Somewhere there’s a doe telling others humans stole her baby. 🤣
That sanctuary needs to learn some things. First, a baby walking through water like that, and crying, is 100% abandoned, so I was not the least bit surprised momma never showed up. First, the momma's don't actually, normally go out of earshot. Notice some other videos where people interacted with the baby and it suddenly started crying out, the momma came charging in a minute later. They don't put the baby down and then travel a mile away, normally. And the babies don't normally leave their hide if the momma put it there recently. They leave the hide when momma didn't come back in a normal amount of time. The leave the hide because they are VERY hungry. I posted the things to look for as recommended by one of the state wildlife organizations that deal with this problem a lot, and what you saw at the beginning of this video literally ticked off not just one, and not two, but THREE of the reasons to rescue a baby. 1. approaching humans or pets. 2. wandering around or laying in water. 3. constant crying out, "maaaap." Sounds like the sanctuary either didn't understand these things, or they didn't trust the people. The information about curled ears was made known because people were finding babies in hides, and assuming they were abandoned. Nobody who knows anything about deer, would look at this video and not know that it was almost certain the baby was on its own when it was in the water, approaching the humans while crying. All of that goes against their instinct. It was desperate.
@@leroyrussell8766 But it was just to be sure. It may also be that the mother was separated from the fawn by another wild animal and the fawn jumped into the water. Then the mother is further away, but would come back and look for the him. There are many inevitabilities.
Years ago I helped a fawn to survive. She was released and would keep coming around. Then she brought more deer around. Soon there was five. I would feed them all. This band of merry deer keep coming around for years. Even today the offspring show up from time to time. Seems deer are a very loving and interesting creature. They never forget when someone helps them out. Their is a salt lick for them to enjoy and sweet corn to brunch on. Would you believe waking up to see deer sniffing you out when you are asleep on the easy chair out behind the house. THIS IS PRICELESS, PERIOD.
What an experience! I believe animals have senses we know nothing about. "Good "or " "bad" vibes must be so obvious to them! To acknowledge this kindness for so long shows me that it's possible to gravitate towards someone of a different species and show kindness. We sure can learn so much!
@@Downecker You are so right Stanley, I can tell you I will never forget this special treat. This part is burned into my brain cells forever. It's funny because a fawn's cry sounds awfully similar to a human baby's cry. If you search around on RUclips you can see videos of deer running out of the woods to help when they hear human babies crying! Goes to show we are all programmed to react the same way when we hear that sound!
This video brought tears to my eyes! I am so happy the orphaned deer are doing well and were released together. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of them so that they could have a second chance at life. You are all angels here on earth!!

There are very few things as adorable as baby deer. Hearing that sweet baby crying made my heart ache. Thank goodness she was rescued (and all the others) and survived.

My uncle was a Game Warden, folks would turn over orphaned fawns to him. Before the days of rescue organizations his back yard was always full of fawns in spring and early summer. His family would bottle feed and transition to a forest diet and he would release in a remote location. One of the great memories of my childhood.
Awh they were so precious - they obviously were just babies when found due to their spots. Thanks not only to the wildlife sanctuary workers but to the people who originally SAVED Ivy from the water, contacted the rescue and kept an eye on her. Ivy would NOT have been saved/alive if it wasn't for those who helped her out of the water. With Ivy being grateful to her rescuers, displaying her love and CONSTANT "thank-yous" this prooves deer are more intelligent than people give them credit for. Then forming that friendship and bond, shows how deer are capable of love and forming friendships/love connections.
Thank you so very much to the people out there doing the work so that these sweet, beautiful, babies don’t suffer. When I see things like that baby weak, starving, and cold, it’s all I can do to hold my emotions in check. I never used to be like this but when I lost my father, who was also my best friend, it changed me fundamentally as a man. Now, I could only hunt if I needed to. Even then it would be very difficult. I also lost my cat of 20 years right after I lost my father so I took a beating last year and now when I see anything innocent suffering, I go straight to 100. I just cannot help it. Maybe it’s post traumatic stress. My dad died right in my arms. That never dawned on me till just now. Maybe it is PTSD. I’m not depressed, just much more easily emotional. Especially where animals are concerned. Anyway, sorry for the novel, I’ll shut up.
