    In this Chapter we discuss the Espar D5 Hydronic Heating System in the Winnebago Revel 4X4.
    Click Here to Find out more about the Winnebago Revel: www.lichtsinn....
    The true 4x4 RV opens up a world of possibilities!
    Designed specifically for active outdoor enthusiasts, the all new Winnebago Revel takes a no nonsense approach to adventure with a straightforward design and function-driven features. Taking full advantage of the proven 4x4 Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis, the Revel’s 3.0 litre turbo diesel puts 325 lbs ft of torque through an on-demand 4WD system, complete with high and low range and hill descent mode for added off road capability.
    Inside, the Revel’s unique features start with a floorplan designed around a Power Lift Bed with a 140 cu. ft. gear garage below. This allows for a 49 x 79 inch cross coach sleeping area. A full galley, including a 2.5 cu. ft. refrigerator, makes meal prep a breeze, while the all in one bath and gear closet boasts a cassette style toilet that eliminates the need for a separate black water holding tank. Add a standard solar power system that is expandable to 510 watts, diesel powered heating, a dinette with a pull-up table that converts to additional sleeping space, and many more innovative features and the result is the new Revel: quite simply the most off road capable RV Winnebago has ever built.
    Storage and living space are maximized by the flared body and Power Lift Bed that converts to a 49 x 79 inch sleeping surface. Welded aluminum cabinet face frames, dual pane windows with insulated shades, snap in screens for fresh air circulation, and an available roof mounted AC system all contribute to the Revel's off the grid livability.
    This coach is powered by the tried and true Mercedes Benz powertrain:
    1. Mercedes Benz 3.0 litre six cylinder turbo diesel
    2. 325 lb ft of torque or power
    3. 188 horsepower
    4. Five speed automatic transmission with grade braking capability
    5. On demand 4 wheel drive with low range, to selectively stop individual wheels if wheel spin is detected. The system can be safely driven on dry pavement without the risk of damaging differential locks.
    6. Electronic stability and traction control
    7. Four wheel ABS
    8. Trailering package with 5,000 lb towing and a 500 lb vertical tongue weight

    Got the details on the Heater , thank you. Questions: when off grid what switches need to be on?
    When there is shore power ; what switches are NOT needed or needed? I’m having difficulty understanding the different power source configuration for heating use.
    I feel like I may leave one on and burn something out

    Jus got my 2019 Revel, how does the AC unit power on off grid ? Specifically need to know which switches have to be engaged.

      Good morning Dawn! Thanks for your note... if you are not connected to shoreline power, and are RVing without access to power, you would need to use your shoreline and plug into a portable generator.

    • @TangoDown1911
      @TangoDown1911 6 лет назад

      Dawn Bunetta You have to be plugged in to shore power in order to use your a/c since this model doesn’t come with a generator. I’m hoping Winnebago will include a generator in the near future so you can actually be off the grid and have A/C. These are great for up north but down south you need a/c.

    So can you use the shower and toilet and sink when winter camping in the same way as the summer? Without winterizing?

      Good evening John! You absolutely can! I hope this helps!

    Thank you for the video. Very informative. Can Lichsinn RV please confirm that the electronic element of this unit can be supplied off batteries in the RV. A dual source option is important here as I have extremely efficient solar PV units and large batteries. So whilst it is obvious that solar PV cannot provide the full demand through four seasons, I am able to keep my batteries pretty well charged off the sunlight available even in the mountain ski resorts.

      Good morning! With the Espar system, the diesel burner will run off the diesel and 12V, the electrical element does need shore line power thru being plugged in or thru using a portable generator.

      @8skywalker8 3 года назад

      @@LichtsinnRV morning! Thank you for the quick reply - it is really appreciated. OK thanks for clarifying, I was hoping this thing was so efficient I might be able to run a dual source system. But I understand it needs a shore line. No problem, it is still unquestionably a fantastic product.

    I guess I'm not understanding where the Hydronic Heating is getting the power from. Is it from the 3 AGM batteries? If these batteries become uncharged can the engine on the coach recharge them? Will running the engine help with anything while boondocking?

    • @LichtsinnRV
      @LichtsinnRV  4 года назад

      Good evening! The fuel source is diesel fuel or the electrical element if plugged in. Then the you are correct the 12V does the rest, including the blower. These 3 AGMS are recharged in transit off the Mercedes engine alternator, off the solar, and when plugged in. Hope this helps!

    • @TheSquiggyacfd
      @TheSquiggyacfd 4 года назад

      @@LichtsinnRV Thanks for the reply. So you can technically idle the coach, for instance during a snowfall, to recharge? I was hoping that was the case and not relying on solar or generator when not plugged in.

    • @kentwise9801
      @kentwise9801 4 года назад

      @@TheSquiggyacfd Mercedes does not recommend idling the van for extended periods of time as it negatively effects the emissions system. This is why MB does not allow upfitters to use auto-start on Lithium equipped coaches. So with the Revel I am considering I am looking at external generators for those times that the solar will not keep up.

    Does the revel model come with a radiant floor warming option like the Boldt?

    • @LichtsinnRV
      @LichtsinnRV  3 года назад

      Good afternoon! Thank you for your note! The Revel and the Boldt are similar in design with the heat ducts providing all season radiant heat... neither technically have infloor heat, but both have very strong R values and all season heating. Hope this helps!

    Great RV including the Espar D5 but there have been a number of reports of non-functioning heating systems due to improper install at the factory. Any update on this problem?
