This is not the same for all Amish communities.
No AC and it's 90 degrees all week and they're working over wood stoves for cooking and preserves hoeing gardens lots of sweaty work and these Amish women bathe every Saturday whether they need to or not The elderly bathe monthly again whether they need to or not Yuck

no it's just as an American feminized woman, woman was thought to be a fat lazy whores, married to the government through public aid, and handouts.
@@user-xr5fx2ni8m They do not get paid, just like in most of American history or the rest of the world. The Amish are self sustaining, so educate, raise crops and do most things without modern conveniences and services. They even build their own structures, like barns. The best comparison is to America a century or two ago.

I would not have survived the smothering. And the blackness of ignorance surrounding everything other than the rigors of the religion.
