I have owned a TRK502X for around 4 months now, while I agree somewhat with the off road capabilities, it is still quite capable off road in most situations, just need to take very rough ground a little more cautiously. That can be said of most adventure bikes also though. Where this bike really shines, and the reviewer didn't really mention it, is fuel economy, this thing is amazingly frugal at highway speeds. Also, as a touring bike on any sort of road, the suspension is quite good. The stability and cornering on this bike is outstanding, I suppose the extra weight helps here. I have ridden this bike in brutal cross winds and never really felt unsafe or unstable. Comfort on long rides is exceptional, I personally have owned over 60 motorcycles and this one, and a CBX 750 Honda are the standouts! I agree it could use more power, but then I owned a zx10r Kawasaki and was chasing more Hp for that too after a while lol Seriously though, if this bike had maybe a 650 engine, or at least a 5 to 10 Hp boost, for the money it's an absolute bargain. Besides all that, it is probably the most attractive adventure bike on the market right now, it gets looks everywhere I take it. I'm sure it won't be long and some performance parts will become available, meanwhile don't be too put off, overall it's very, very good value in comparison.
Combing both the review from zigwheels and powerdrift, it can be said that if you're totally off-road focused, then you should go for 502x and for mix ride, take 502. But ofcourse, in India, nobody lives in that much rural area that requires heavy off-roaders unless until you're living in jungles with no road. So, I think 502 is best choice.
Entertaining video review! The fantastic exhaust note is due to a 360° crank. The confusion between selecting Versys 650 and TRK would be easier if they'd launched the TRK502 @₹4.5 lakhs and 502X @₹4.99 lakhs. This would've easily brought the on road pricing difference easily by more than ₹2 lakhs, and the Benelli could've made more sense. Currently it's a slippery slope at this price and Versys still has the upper hand I believe in terms of reliability and resale value. Also the kerb weight is actually 210 kgs for TRK 502 and 502X, found in international official websites. Still heavy in my books for a 500cc twin adv. The weight of 235 kgs is when fully accesorised and loaded with panniers and top box. Cheers!
I agree with you. I own a Benelli 600i and the weight is simply way too much to handle for Indian traffic conditions especially with U-Turns and reverse
I swear to god I woke up and saw a google ad for this bike then searched for a video and came here all the while still half asleep. 3:56 NOW I AM UP AND READY FOR ANYTHING!!!
I stopped at a dealer in Texas to get some chain lube , and they had the TRK 502X . While it looked very well built I was surprised it weights 500lbs. Lifting it off the side stand it didn't feel as heavy as my 2018 Vstrom 1000XT. That has the crash bars and center stand. And a big top box full of junk. To bad it gets trashed for not much low end. That wouldn't bother me ,just use the regrip.
Wow reviewing an off roader and repeatedly talking about performance and power conveniently overlooking its off road proweress. Its like reviewing bmw and talking all about mileage and resale value. Well done zig wheels!!!
First its kilometer per litter not miles per gallon... Second its quite possible due to low end not being powerfull that means youl use mostly 2nd or 3rd gear all the time at low revs. I mean how is that the only bike that does that? Most low torque bikes do that.
Great presentation and really honest too! Is the engine output limited in some way to 47.5 hp in order to be A2 compliant or that's just what it is? It's really peculiar that the KTM 390 delivers almost the same power with just 373 cc of single cylinder engine..
Old comment, but what the hell. The Benelli is manufactured in china using Chinese small engine tech. In function it's a scaled down and much cruder version of BMW's legendary 800 and 850 series of 360 degree firing twins, due to the drop in displacement and just being made worse than BMW, 47.5 Horsepower is all these can make without going nuclear. These are reported to not be long lasting engines, their cylinders are not coated or impregnated with anything and the tolerances inside are very loose, by about 30-50K miles, they are worthless scrap.
Its a peace of crap weights as much as a 1200 GS and only a 500cc engine and standing on pegs in off road riding -the tank gets in the way. And I own a Benelli 1130 trek ( that was made in Italy not China ) the perfect Budget is the SWM 650 SUPERDUAL , Even the Royal Enfield Himalayan is a WAY better bike.
It's a good bike with good brakes huge fork very beautiful economic in fuel.. Not much power but OK.. For this price is a very good Maschine.. Trek is a beautiful bike as well but you need to pay a lot of money in fuel if you want to travel long distances like 800 kilometers and more
Why would someone do that? Its like comparing apples to oranges. This is focussed adv tourer with a twin cylinder engine. You should ask if this can be compared to the VStorm 650 or the Versys 650. Himalayan and G310 GS are not even in this league.

So, Here is my question, i really want to know how this goes against the A2 compliant V-strom see, they are both 47hp and lets face it, by the time you put a center stand. Crash bars. Panier racks and a bashplate the 650 Stromper is about the same weight, i find that my A2 compliant V-strom has more than enough power, is roughly the same weight and torque. The biggest thing is that here in New Zealand a 650 V-strom costs $117 more to register each year and is about $350 a year more to insure than this bike. So if you are going to choose between an A2 V-strom and this, knowing that the stromper will vost you more long term to run, which is better?
What he said made perfect sense. Its a good bike but very heavy and with an underpowered engine. It makes more sense to buy a used V Storm or Versys at this price point. A lot more power and those two Japanese bikes will last longer and have better resale value to boot. This bike only makes sense if you really want something unique as few people will see the value in this heavy underpowered Chinese bike. CFMoto is another unreliable Chinese manufacturer but at least those bikes aren't underpowered and are in the same class as the Versys and V Storm in power at least while being a lot cheaper.

Yes Janesh... on the regular 502, the highway FE is higher than city FE. But since the 502X runs a larger rear sprocket, it's final gearing is shorter. That gives it greater tractability, and you can keep the bike at lower revs in the city. But at highway speeds, the 502X is revving higher than the 502. Hence the FE on the highway drops.
Hey Deepak... Those are the numbers we got in testing. The 502X runs a large rear sprocket compared to the regular 502, so its overall gearing becomes shorter. That means it's sitting at higher revs at highway speeds, and hence the highway fuel efficiency goes down. You'll find that the regular 502 has higher FE on the highway.
What's the ex-showroom price there? Just want to get an idea of how much the taxes and insurance are gonna add up to, by comparing the on road figure with the ex-showroom amount.
Dude seriously..,!! what's a gear box is..? 🤔 You say it has low end torque n say engine revs high.. How is the 1st gear supposed work..? Motogp style? Lower gear ratio close to 1 :1 ratio...? N then say it pulls from 40 if that's not low end torque.. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️. N u compare with. 650 cc engine n except same power n torque ...? 🤔
That's because the final gearing (sprockets) is shorter on the 502X compared to the regular 502. So you have great tractability in the city, and can keep the revs low. But at highway speeds, the revs are higher compared to the 502. Hence the drop in FE on the highway.

@@brendonfernandes2877 bro any suggestions for best 500 to 700cc Sports/Sports tourer in India?? I have future plans (I mean dream) to buy some good higher capacity bike.... (Hopefully)
@@vivekanandan5093 Hey the Ninja 650, Versys 650 and Honda cb650r are the popular ones. The Versys imo is the best of them due to the higher ground clearance and the superb suspension for bad roads

Mate - can you please talk at a lower pitch and with less fake excitement. To use a motorcycling analogy you sound like a high revving 100 cc single cylinder rather than a throaty gurgling 4 cylinder 1000cc.
Sorry mate... that's just what I sound like... :)
Man the sound. No match!!!
Expensive!
