    The trk has been brilliant, we've taken ours to Belgium and back and Limerick and back, 2up fully loaded and it didn't miss a beat.
    And we suffered severe weather on both trios and the quality of the paintwork shone through.
    The larger benellis all get quality controlled in Italy which is why they have much better reliability ad quality than the small benellis.
    The brakes are insanely good as is the suspension.
    I would recommend to anyone wanting a bargain, high quality tourer. You just have to plan overtakes early 😁👍

      Oem battery didn't last long, no problem since changing it, rear shock replaced under warranty, no problem. Not needed to order any parts as no other issues. I've been riding 40 years and I must say a brilliant all round bike.

      @@TheDorsetRider I’ve seen the rear shock came up for another review too so maybe a common issue but that’s fine, I would bet there’s a upgrade available for when it happens, it’s not game over. Same for the battery, no problem to drop in a quality one after 6 months use

    Best review on the TRK502X, great work. Absolute unicorn of a machine. The chassis is way more than the engine demands, and the engine way more than a 500 has the right to be. Toured Europe a few times, once for a week 2-up with all the boxes...effortless and the engine doesn't seem to notice the extra load. Tried the re-gearing thing...taking it out of the factory set-up made it slower. Went back to standard and fitted the DID525 chain kit. Agree completely on the physical size, awesome engine note, standard features, etc., etc. Was going to swap for a 1250GS but real-road riding revealed the 502X is just more nimble, more fun. Ignore the spec. sheets. And don't have any more $$$ sitting idle in your garage most of the time, this bike does it all. Apart from risk the licence every time you use it.

    Had a 502x for over a year , performance was reasonable ,handling ,comfort ,brakes were excellent for the price and I enjoyed every mile I did on it. It's a no brainer.........plus it looks really good and yes the exhaust note is lovely.....

  • @lokisurfer4817
    @lokisurfer4817 9 месяцев назад +8

    I've had mine five years, 16000 miles in all weather. I commute five days a week, camping trips and green lane on it, too.
    The only issues I've had are the original chain is weak (snapped on a very steep green lane) and the rear brake wasn't too good (since remedied with better pads).
    It's top heavy when fully fueled but the weight disappears once the bike is moving. Handling is very good, power is more than enough. If you can't have fun with 47bhp then you're doing something wrong.
    I've been green laning with KTM 500, 690, 790, 890, WR250, T7, etc, and it's done everything they've done, albeit a bit slower. It's better than it should be 'off road', the suspension is only adequate at lower speeds and you have to pick your line carefully.
    It's a brilliant bike.

    • @ontheroadadventure
      @ontheroadadventure  9 месяцев назад +2

    I looked at the TRK502 when I was considering a touring bike. I think I was fooled by the spec sheet as it looked a little on the heavy side for the size of motor so in the end I went for a VStrom 650. At Motorcycle Live last week I had a really good look at and a sit on the 702 and thought it had a better riding position that either the CFMoto MT800 or the VStrom 800RE. Ignore the Chinese bikes at your peril, they are listening to what customers want and then providing it.

Then some of the best twistie bitumen roads in Australia to make my way home. About 1500ks in 3 days . I have never had any issues with this bike at all. Having had problems in the past on enfields I would need to be convinced as they told me it wouldnt be a problem ( and it was )
    But if your doing the odd trip away and are on a budget, it could be worth a go
    Are they going to stop making this model now there is a trk 702
    Maybe thats why there doing such a good deal

      Looking at the comments getting parts doesn’t seem to be a problem, these bikes are now becoming so popular that dealers all over Europe can be found. It is on the heavy side though but if it’s built like a tank then I don’t mind… The new 702 could well explain the bargain deals but I think this one will be relatively cheap too, we will see.

I'm nudging 6 foot but with DNA resembling a strategically shaved chimp mean my inseam is about that of your average 5'8"-5'10" rider and I use the 'shorty' seat - and it's bloody great. Plus a cavernous fuel tank that I managed to get over 600km out of it at steady highway speeds, and it still showed 1 bar on the fuel gauge. These are much under-valued bikes. I think there's some "it's made in China" but in Oz and NZ even Triumphs are assembled in Thailand, so I say, get over it. You're missing out otherwise

      Possibly because some U.K. motorcyclist are biased towards “big brand names” much the same as some people are biased towards big name brands in life and would never wear anything from Primark or other “lesser” brands, or ever consider anything other than a Nikon or Canon camera.
      My Benelli TRK 502 has truly surprised me in a good way on every aspect of the motorcycle ownership.
      My understanding is that some major manufacturers have motorcycles or cars produced in China.
      The other thing for Benelli, apart from being reliable and extremely good value for money is that the parent company Geely Holding owns a number of brands including Geely Auto, Lynk & Co, Zeekr, Geometry, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Proton Cars, Lotus, London Electric Vehicle Company, Farizon Auto, Terrafugia, Cao Cao Mobility, Qianjiang Motorcycle, Joma, Saxo Bank, and Mitime Group
      Some big known brands there that people are happy to buy. Wonder how many people drive a vehicle either produced by the company or some major component in their cars is produced by them.
      London Electric Vehicle Company
      make London electric taxis 😉
      levc.com
      I’m not saying that owning Chinese vehicles is great for U.K. economy but what other choices are there at reasonable prices.
      R.E another great brand non U.K. at reasonable prices if don’t fancy Chinese - though on a personal basis from what I have experienced and seen I believe the Chinese are now ahead of the Indian RE brand for build quality and pricing and on par with Honda, Triumph etc.
      I’ve checked various reliability reports online and some of the most unreliable brands are the biggest and most expensive traditional brands.
      The quality of bolts - I’ve owned several big brand names motorcycles, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and a few others they all suffered from corrosion on aluminium engine parts and bolts if not coated with ACF-50 for the winter months.

    I'd sort of assumed it would be a 702 on your earlier post. For the money you can't go wrong, by the time you knock off £1500 for the luggage and say £500 for the centre stand and crash bars (which is what it cost on our Tigers) it makes it a £4500 bike in real terms. Can't really fault the looks, stand out things for me were the bolts that secure the mirrors to the bars as they looked a bit cheap and unfinished and wasn't overly keen on the usb port, again it looked a bit cheap. However both those points are negligible in the scheme of things.

      You said you don't think the bike is designed to do 100mph it is designed to do that. The Italians would not design the bike if it was not capable of doing it, and more when buying a motorbike from new, it has to be broken in slowly for it to work ar it's full capacity. As far as the vibration in the pegs, that's because of cause as you said it is a new bike, but it eventually disappears. You can loos the vibration quicker by removing the rubber on the pegs and just have the jaggerd pegs as I have done that as I wear sidi adventure boots, those rubber peg rests are designed to be removed you will see the nuts underneath . I have a DNA air filter in mine. It's much better throttle control far better, much better than the standard fome one air filter, and I've replaced the break pads to sintered copper as they last longer and work extremely well and they don't clog up the caliper with the grime you get from the standerd pads.

    • @ontheroadadventure
      @ontheroadadventure  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@angelodrosi8470 I was referring to it not being designed to do 100mph as in it is not a sports bike, its purpose is not to go fast but to go far…. But indeed the bike far exceeds expectations and does go fast especially for such a small capacity bike. I would bet there are further gains to be achieved with a fuel controller and set up too 👍

  • @soggybawsmoto
    @soggybawsmoto 9 месяцев назад

    I don't think the price comparison to a AT or GS is appropriate, the CB500X is where this bike is pitched. The equipment level is far superior that the CB, and it looks as if it has back lit switchgear as well which is an excellent feature. Sadly, I dont think a price difference of £200 OTR would swing it. Two issues, as per community post, long term ownership issue of being able to get spares for it across its life span, and it's actually £20 pm more expensive on a PCP (the devils work) than the Honda.
    Benelli would have been better selling it without all the add on's, save money on the crash bars and luggage and selling the base bike for £5,000. Looking at the price of the TRK502 non X model (cast wheels, low slung pipe), I suspect that would likely to be possible.
    You would tempt a cash buyer at that price point.
    The key would be long term ownership though, get your value from the bike by using it. You wouldnt expect it to hold its value comparably to the Honda.
    PS : I aint a Honda fan boy. I'd never buy another Honda after my 2016 AT Experience, which funnily enough I'm also resigned to keeping it as a long term hack, as there are too many low mile garage queens on the market for mine to have any second hand value with its high mileage.
