Have my 502x for just over a year now. First thing you need to do is swap the pads for HH all over the stock are absolute rubbish. Second, Throw a 16tooth front sprocket on with a D.I.D X-ring chain. the stock chain rusts super quickly and was just meh , with the 16 tooth you will notice a reduction in vibrations on motorway riding and get a little more top end torque. Third , get LED bulbs and a decent set of auxiliary lights on it, the stock isnt bad but isnt good its just ..... meh. with a full LED kit this thing is a dream on dark back roads night riding. As for the windscreen , im 6ft 3 and bought the PUIG touring windscreen and can safely say there is zero wind noise of buffeting. stock exhaust is absolutely lovely and there is no need for an aftermarket can whatsoever. All in all i would say this bike is a dream to drive but has some nit picky hickups such as the breaks and the headlights. overall id say its a 7.5/10 from me and definitely worth considering for someone looking for the GS style and comfort without paying GS money.
Been using TRK502 for 3 years. 100k km millage clock. Using for daily commuting 168 km. Suit my need & budget. Easy to maintain. Easy to troubleshoot if there is problem. Rarely give problem. Reliable. Here in Malaysia there is a lot of people using for daily commuting to work. Some even clock more than 200k km millage in 5 years.

Hi, I have been using the TRK502 ( without the X) since 2019. First series, with all the childhood diseases. Very, very comfortable and nothing has broken. Surprising even to me. I agree with: Glass - too low, Plastics - needed to be lined with foam. My version is without illuminated switches. And the brakes - the TRK502 has much stronger brakes than the X version. Four pistons on each front caliper. And the engine? I already know machines with 50000km on the odometer. Still all OK.

My 502TRK as been in my ownership for 4yrs 6mth, 14k now lock down didnt help with mileage. However nothing as gone wrong the bike as performed faultlessly. The only thing I was not happy with was the dead feel to the brakes especially the back one, replacing with EBC pads transformed that and an elastic band chain which despite regular adjusting/cleaning/lubing only saw 6k. The bike as been parked outside with a cover since new ands as seen very little deterioration of component parts fixtures and fittings just given a dose of ACF50 once every 6mths. Would I recommend the bike yes and thats after 43yrs of riding everything from heavy weight cruisers to Fire Blades and everything else between. Thanks for the review, enjoyed it.
The engine sound is down to the 180 degrees chrankshaft , giving the bike more torque down low sacrificing overall power , meaning the engine is suited to the weight of the bike without going over the max power allowed on the a2 license
I have a 2023, and the bike has been great so far. I ride in the Andes mountains of Ecuador, and so far no complaints whatsoever. Have a little over 9500 miles, and have done nothing but general maintenance, and tires. I have full luggage and no issues with carrying gear either.
Got a Benelli 502 (non-X) in 2021. There wasn't much inventory at that time and this was an unexpected option. Did 12,000+ miles in 14months throughout New England, Blue Ridge, Dragons, OBX, etc. Not a SINGLE HICCUP! Comfortable, smooth, MPG was >50 routinely and a couple of stretches up to 60mpg. The weight wasn't noticeable at speed as it would tip in easily and held a line nicely (with upgraded rubber to Michelin Road6). I intentionally went for the weight/power ratio as a returning rider and it didn't let me get in over my head. Even though I had the road-biased version, it handled a few intentional off-pavement sections (and a couple of Oh-shit-where-am-I navigational errors). Excellent value for the $$ but not going to get your adrenaline pumping if your looking for huge power and torque. A solid performer. Will instantly get the 702 as soon as they reach this continent.

I bought my TRK502X in June this year. Two months later I already put more than 4000km on the clock. It performs really well, the engine is buzzy, it feels alive and responds well to throttle input. Despite its weight it handles like a champ in the corners and I've done various mountain passes with plenty of hairpins in it, not an issue. If anything I've dared to lean this bike further than my previous Honda CB500F which is evident because the tires are completely worn to the edge. The bike gives me lots of confidence and it feels superb. The fairings are nice and don't make any sounds on my bike, the stock windscreen was slightly too low for me (I am 195cm or 6 foot 4 inch) so I put a Puig touring on it and now its perfect. The only gripe I had with the bike so far it is that the rear brake feels a bit 'spongy' and could use some more bite. I will upgrade the pads to sintered pads on my next service as I heard this helps. Also, this is not really an issue, but it does make fairly high RPMs on the highway (120 km/h) being in the 7K RPMs, the sound becomes a bit of a drone in your ears after a while. A smaller rear sprocket (2 teeth) can alleviate this. Noise aside, the stock exhaust sounds really good when its warmed up a little. Just last week one minor thing broke, which was one of the two springs that hold the kickstand in place (the kickstand functioned fine with just one spring) it was replaced under warranty.
Thank you for taking the plunge and reviewing a Chinese bike. As a long time rider of Zontes and Cfmoto adventure bikes, I have nothing to be ashamed of. Please keep up your excellent work and unique style.

Wow I figured you would say 5, I am in the US and have ridden all my life o all kinds of bikes. I am looking at an Adventure Bike. But don’t want to spend 20k and find out I am not stoked on it. So I figured I would pick up the 502X and see how it goes. Thanks for the info
I did this too, back in December. I used to have a KTM 990 adventure before we had kids, then got out of the game a while, and wanted to get back into it on a budget. So I picked up a 502x. For the price, it's a fantasticccccc bike. I ride kentucky backroads and gravel, and I'm really enjoying it. There is a lot of vibration. It is a little slow on the highways. I've gotten up to 105mph with it pegged. So, it doesn't feel nearly as fast or as capable as my old 990 adventure.... but the catch is that I got it for 1/3 of the price practically new, with all the luggage too.
excellent and honest review. I wish i had a height like yours. Having no option i am now proud owner of benelli 502c. Please make a review video of benelli 502c
A bike review is something new 👍 Nicely done, but you've not sold me on the Benelli. For the money I guess it's not too bad but personally, I would go Honda CB500X and have reliability and worldwide parts availability
Fully agree, but judging by how many lower tier (not even top tier) Chinese or Korean bikes I see on the road, these bikes still have buyers. So before I forged my opinion, I wanted to sample the best of what China can make, really for my own benefit before anything else. I came out of it wiser. The West is still ahead, especially in QA, but not FAAAR ahead anymore, the best of China is catching up very quick. Thats ultimately good because yours and my favourite western brands will be pushed harder to make better, less expensive models. That benefits you and me. These might not be for everyone, but they indirectly benefit us tremendously. Thanks for stopping by !
@@zibingotaeam3716 Thats why reviewers exist and we vote with our money. The big brands still make fat margins, theres always room for improvement. If they don't someone else will
@@UrgetoRide There are corners manufacturers can cut that you will not notice until it's too late - too little R&D for the timing chain guide rails, worse machining on combustion surfaces, less QC in general... Fortnine proved a while ago that the amount of metal shavings and other debris in new engines from chinese manufacturers is magnitudes bigger than from japanese, american or european manufacturers. That will lead to much shorter engine life. So who knows what corner they cut on the Benelli and when that will come back to bite you?
It'd be interesting to see you give a look to the Voge 500 DS/DSX after trying the TRK, since that's the other up and coming "adventure-ish" competitor
The Voge 500DSX is better almost in every aspect. It has better quality all around (go close and you will see the difference), it is lighter, much more nimble through traffic, faster and more fuel efficient, better over bumps and potholes, the screen is way nicer and the braking is better since it is a lot lighter. The only department where the Benelli is better is on the seat, it is wider and more comfy.
@@PogingSweet No I don't have it yet, I plan to buy it, but I've ridden it some times and when I got on the Benelli, I saw all the things I mentioned. Many Voge owners have no reliability issues with the bike and are amazed with how well it performs at such a low price. If you could do a test ride you would see the things I mentioned before.
I bought a 2021 TRK502 for my wife who is learning to ride around 53 and because it looks like my GSA. A LOT of bike for the money, and roomy for a 500cc.
If you enjoyed this, try more middle weight adv bikes. I was a die hard sport bike rider for the longest time, but now I need a sport bike and an adv. Adventure bikes (good ones at least) are just really practical hooligan bikes. Tons of fun. Your channel is fantastic btw. You have some seriously good presenter skills.
They did, but that was a completely different management etc, firm was still 100% italian. Shame it flopped, they were triples before triples were cool
I Drive a trk 502 more the 20000 Kilometers ,absolut no Problems no Broke , a lovley economic bike ,Tires 13000km to change, with a 160hp ktm you need to change tires after 6000km....its very comftable bike for long travels and with 48hp you didnt get so much trouble with the Police like a 160hp bike😂 i just change my windscreen for a higher one , and change the Front lights to a led Light....Best regards from germany
I had one, not gonna lie, first off I really liked it but over time the build quality started to show, rust and wear and tear, also total lack of power, weighs an absolute ton! Now I have an Africa twin…. O yeh and the servicing was a total pain in the arse, next to impossible to get hold of parts numbers let alone the actual parts
My lifetime motto has always been. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki & Kawasaki. No other brands are considered. Never let down in over half a century. You have an XSR900. Just lift the seat and look at the precision loom routing, quality connectors and components. It's a different world than Italy, Germany or India etc. Little men in white factory overalls and white gloves with perfection etched into their national psyche! Cheers.
This used to be true, but not so much anymore. Royal Enfields are reliable as hell (granted, this is due to their rugged design). Ducati is getting much better, and so is Aprilia. BMW are nailing it reliability wise on their latest releases (+ their factories have nothing to envy on japanese ones). Even the brits are doing great with Triumph, and they know it: their servicing is every 16k. The only japanese brand that really stands out on reliability now is Honda, and even them screwed up on several occasions (that 1200cc engine that fitted the VFR1200 and Crosstourer...).
@@Arthur-sf1go 16K oil and filter change is crazy. Always been 5K for me. Honda only make decent bikes out of Japan as do the other three. I would not touch their Thai/India/China factories.
Years ago, people said that Japanese bike were crap - they eventually seen the English bikes off. Now,we have the Chinese coming along. At the moment the Japanese bikes are mostly in charge, but wait a few years and see fhen, there, are some good bikes coming out of China, and much cheaper than Japanese bikes. WE will see.
Thanks for giving a height comparison! Not many do. I'm looking at various dual purpose bikes for general gravel road exploration, but at 5' 7'' this one may be a little too high, combined with over 200kgs weight. Great bikes though!
I just got a TRK 502 X 2019 pre-owned and I can ride it at 5'7" (on my tip toes bc mine was lifted). I'll leave it on stock height (hope that helps a little) I'm a occasional rider and I can at 5'7" if you have more experience than me for you would be easy to ride it
Sounds like discount F800GS. F800GSA if you need more fuel. Sure, those are not new, but you get the same engine concept, with the difference being that they feel like big bikes while also being capable off road.
hi mr. urge, i really enjoy watching your videos from here in n.y. i was just wondering if you ever ride older sport bikes. the early 90s zx7 is my all time favorite bike. i would really like to hear your thoughts.
Thank you for this review. I am trying to figure out if I need to trade in my Tiger sport 660 for the Benelli non X model. The Benelli's seat and seating position is so much more comfortable when I sat on it in the showroom! All of my Versys 650's I could ride for 4 hours while on the Triumph my max is 30 min.
As an owner, I don't like the engine and the gearshift, the weight is a bit too much. I feel like if they reduced the weight in a style of a tenré the bike would be a lot better. Still, love the bike, happy with my choice.
@@UrgetoRide I'm so old I recall Benelli's 6 SEI carbon copy of the Honda CB 500 four. They were incredibly expensive and unlike the Honda had a proclivity to drop dead from everything you can imagine would afflict a manufacturer who was NOT Honda motor corporation. Those SEI's would be back in the shop so many times it would make one's head spin. The CB 500 four would simply run perfectly fine for decades with just book servicing. Ever seen Benelli looms and connectors in their 2023 range of bikes? It's terrifying.
TRK502 - normal highway it is 7500RPMs and about 140km/h GPS. Nothing like that. Maybe through the 300-500 rpm range you can feel the extra vibration on the pegs. In a very short range of revolutions.
I've heard that if you change out the front sprocket then it fixes that problem. It is a 360⁰ crank engine. So it's basically a double thumper. The new TRK552X has a 270⁰ crank engine and allegedly fixes the issues that the 502X had. I'll be buying one in about 2 months so let's see how it goes.
Would be interesting to find out the price of the fairing if you had a drop. For me it's engine size over bike size. I have a cb500x and don't mind its dimensions. I'm not sure how I feel about a small engine in a bigger build. You buy in because it's cheap, cheaper than the other bikes, and it's no surprise the GS310 is more expensive, it has that badge and desirable connotation. But look how much a clutch lever costs or fairing for that matter. Badge be damned...
The engine guards stick out quite a bit, unless you absolutely loop the mofo I wouldnt worry too much about fairing. Personally I dont like bulky, so it isnt for me. But if seeing how many GS and SUVs there are around, id say others love bulk, so this would work brill for them
Hii dropped my 502 at 30/35mph all I needed was a new crash bar, side stand and gear change leaver. Didn't even mark the bars or fairing. The crash bars work. Cheap to fix too all in £250 & change
Nah A2 allows upto 94HP but then restricted down to 47HP. This allows you to take a legal risk and remove the restrictor on your bike. Legal... No, but there are plenty of bikes that have this as part of their hidden appeal.
Great review but I have to point out I disagree with the statement "adventure inspired bike". I have one and I do A LOT of offroad with it...even some enduro trails. Granted I come from years of enduro riding and I do have a decent amount of experience but still...this bike could do everything a GS does and it can do it on a budget. If you are somewhat experienced there is really no limit to where you can get with this bike. You might not be the fastest...for sure, but you will get there.
It sure is a great bike with great success. But it has only one fault. The weight. If you have a chance try and ride a KOVE 500x, which has a similar power output, even better components and weights 40kg less. Pure joy of riding.
There's no bike i hate more than the gs. It's a huge (literally and figuratively) nerdbike. And way way way too popular. Every other bike on the road is one of those three meter high road tanks with some fat guy in a high viz jacket with an additional high viz vest on top... flip up helmet and too much money, having ridden zero miles on anything other than pavement. Lord I truly hate that bike because of what it represent.

Welcome back brotha 🤙
This channel is the Donut Media Up to Speed of motorcycles and we need more videos.
@@UrgetoRide I disagree - they'll lead to more corners cut imo
What a great channel. Good luck man you make great videos
What a great review dude you got a new subscriber
Looks good value. What seems to let them down is the lack service centres in the UK 😢
@@georgem2456can you enlighten me, do u hv 500dsx?im newbie and plan to upgrade in adv bikes.
@@PogingSweet What do you mean "adv bikes" ?? You want to go on gravel very often or just travel on highway and country roads with bad surfaces ?
Or the kove 500x
I bought a 2021 TRK502 for my wife who is learning to ride around 53 and because it looks like my GSA. A LOT of bike for the money, and roomy for a 500cc.
If you enjoyed this, try more middle weight adv bikes. I was a die hard sport bike rider for the longest time, but now I need a sport bike and an adv. Adventure bikes (good ones at least) are just really practical hooligan bikes. Tons of fun.
Your channel is fantastic btw. You have some seriously good presenter skills.
Where is the new vid?
Welcome back❤you are the best🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Didn't Bernelli do the Tornado, years ago that came and went under the radar?
They did, but that was a completely different management etc, firm was still 100% italian. Shame it flopped, they were triples before triples were cool
A beautiful bike with the fans at the rear. There's a few forsale, good ones around 6k.
Well put together video.
I like this very much, but only concern is its meter... It should have been LED meter
I'll leave it on stock height (hope that helps a little) I'm a occasional rider and I can at 5'7" if you have more experience than me for you would be easy to ride it
Good review well done
Sounds like discount F800GS. F800GSA if you need more fuel. Sure, those are not new, but you get the same engine concept, with the difference being that they feel like big bikes while also being capable off road.
Can't fault qj motors or benelli one bit. They're come upto japanese standard in a very short space of time. The trk502x is a cracking bike all round
Its sounds like boxer because it uses 360 or flat plane crank
Have you tried the Moto Morini X-cape? Little more money but pretty good.
hi mr. urge, i really enjoy watching your videos from here in n.y. i was just wondering if you ever ride older sport bikes. the early 90s zx7 is my all time favorite bike. i would really like to hear your thoughts.
Id absolutely love to, but Id need to borrow them either from friends of the channel or dealerships. Neither are especially straightforward
Hello, is this bike beginner friendly ? I'm 6ft 225 pounds
It has a 360 degree firing order, like an old Triumph. That's why it has such a different sound to most small twins.
you're absolutely right - even more stumped at how they got the sound..
@@UrgetoRide They still let the Italians be in charge of Exhaust tuning.
Trust me. You do need 160hp on an adventure bike 😜 great review!
1290 😂
Good review...can you put the mic on a stand? Looks weird holding it like that
As an owner, I don't like the engine and the gearshift, the weight is a bit too much. I feel like if they reduced the weight in a style of a tenré the bike would be a lot better. Still, love the bike, happy with my choice.
Another great video 💪Can’t wait for the next one in Summer 2025
You rock 🤘
Am I seeing wrong, or doesn’t it have only the left hand guard? 🤔
Do you know about the
Voge 500DS
needs a bit more power imo, find this a hard sell over a cb500x which is similar in power, benneli sure does look nice imo
Wasn't Benelli supposed to release a 752cc adventure bike? In 2023
Now, time for you to check out the TRK 552X. The bike that will be replacing the 502X
@UrgetoRide What bike do you normally ride?
XSR900 bud
@@UrgetoRide I'm so old I recall Benelli's 6 SEI carbon copy of the Honda CB 500 four. They were incredibly expensive and unlike the Honda had a proclivity to drop dead from everything you can imagine would afflict a manufacturer who was NOT Honda motor corporation. Those SEI's would be back in the shop so many times it would make one's head spin. The CB 500 four would simply run perfectly fine for decades with just book servicing. Ever seen Benelli looms and connectors in their 2023 range of bikes? It's terrifying.
I think Benelli have some private musicians to help tune their exhaust. All Benelli twins sounds close to inline 4s.
No, they sound like the old 360 deg Triumph Twins, which is a good thing.
chicken's left testicle? damn what a fancy insult XD
A good used buy then?
Check out SOUL WITH WINGS, how he play with 502x
is it true that benelli have problem if you ride them over 120km/h they start to tremble
TRK502 - normal highway it is 7500RPMs and about 140km/h GPS. Nothing like that. Maybe through the 300-500 rpm range you can feel the extra vibration on the pegs. In a very short range of revolutions.
nothing about horribly vibrating foot pegs? how much they pays you
I've heard that if you change out the front sprocket then it fixes that problem. It is a 360⁰ crank engine. So it's basically a double thumper. The new TRK552X has a 270⁰ crank engine and allegedly fixes the issues that the 502X had. I'll be buying one in about 2 months so let's see how it goes.
@@ExpatsOn2Wheels thank you for your replay, I am looking forward for that review
UTR - Always great writing for your content. But that voice..... You should just narrate videos for a living - awesome pipes!
Its all in the mic I'm sure, its very flattering !
Nah A2 allows upto 94HP but then restricted down to 47HP.
This allows you to take a legal risk and remove the restrictor on your bike. Legal... No, but there are plenty of bikes that have this as part of their hidden appeal.
1:10 did he really just say the bike is 6300 pounds instead of 630
Great review but I have to point out I disagree with the statement "adventure inspired bike".
Thanks ✌🏻😊
Yeah sure, Benelli sold more than 200,000 just in the last year, right?
Why are you stop posting brother?
Test a vstrom 250
the 360 crank does it no favours but its clone brother , the QJ SRT 550 has a 270 craank , therefore lighter crank and tft dash , just sayin ;)
The better bike now is the Voge 525 dsx, £6k and 30kgs lighter and every imaginable extra included in the price.
It sure is a great bike with great success. But it has only one fault. The weight. If you have a chance try and ride a KOVE 500x, which has a similar power output, even better components and weights 40kg less. Pure joy of riding.
Out on the highway in a strong cross wind I think the weight could be quite welcome.
@@SwampCityRadio1974 but not in off-road situations.
Its called venturi500 in our country, yep its so light and good looking.
The Voge 525 dsx is the same, 205kg wet and 48hp.
it sounds as it does because it has a 360 degree crank and not because they want it to sound like something else
Intelligent bike🎉
Where is it made?
China
Looks like Multistrada, sounds like GS.. That's the formula 😆
Compare Benelli with BMW ahahahahah you are so funny!
You cannot compare 310GS with Benelli 502. different classes of bikes.
Probably because it’s very cheap, doesn’t get much more straightforward than that.
What about moto morini x cape head to head
Marquardt Island
You still alive?
Alexzander Parkways
Bad Weight to Power ratio and not A off-road bike its better on road.
Maybe because it's 4 times cheaper? :D
Shades of the SWM super dual........ 🤷
Lord I truly hate that bike because of what it represent.
really hard to disagree.. 😂
Lord, I hate people who state their nonsense as universal truths.
Yet another adventure bike with a buffeting problem, just like my V-Strom.
Save up and go Madstad. Had one on my old V1K. Absolutely fantastic screen
