    This is the first video on these upfitter wires that has helped me. I spent half a day chasing and testing wires under the hood, to no avail. All while watching other videos that showed the pass through wires as having direct power from the switches. Thank you. Maybe some trucks are different than your 2014 and my 2011.

    Thanks for posting this. I spent about a half hour on the phone with my dealer with a tech trying to figure it out. I spent about an hour this morning searching and searching with no success. Decided to google and found your video and it took me a bit longer but found them. I did remove the panel on the left dash with the vent in it. Helped me see it a bit easier. I have a bad back and am tall so I have a hard time getting under the dash. I am pretty pissed at Ford for having such short wires...impossible to work on. Under the hood was not much better. You would think for a 60K truck they could have put in another two inches or so.

    • @photonspawn212
      @photonspawn212 6 лет назад +3

      I agree. I was really pissed off that they had a great option with the upfitter switches only to sour the deal by making the hookup wires nearly impossible to access.

I just bought 2 each 24" two-row LED bars to install in the grille and the info you provided has been helpful! Can't wait to dig into this project!

    I’ve watched a few videos about the upfitter switches and yours is the best one yet. The one thing that NONE of these videos addresses is whether or not these circuits are protected by a fuse inside the vehicle or does the upfitter need to protect them after they go through the firewall. I’m going to check it out myself but I’d sure like to get that diagram you have, either directly from you or maybe you’ll tell me where on the web I can find. Thanks for any response.

    Frist I cannot thank you enough for making this video...yes Ford engineers and accountants should be shot for making these so hard to find and connect...for an extra $5 they could have added 6" of wire to each of these upfitter extensions and made our lives so much easier! Again, thanks for this video...I was able to find them and first thing I did was add extensions to each of them!

    Very informative video with excellent tutorial. Although I'm a bit apprehensive about wiring in additional accessories, primarily because one of the other videos that popped up upon me viewing this one was a super duty burning up. However, I'm confident with watching this video and I do have full coverage insurance. Nice truck too. Thanks.

    Great vid! Already saw a few before this one but yours specified what i needed to know if i wanted to run an accessory inside the interior and not on the engine side with the upfitter switches. Thanks! Btw, i saw that link you showed on paper on various forums online but once you click on the link it is no longer available unfortunately. Probably someone is trying to make a dime off that info.

    I know this vid is 10 years old, but just to confirm, you will connect the Aux cable to one of the cables that go through the firewall and then connect the end of the through firewall cable to what you want to power? Then flip the switch and it should get the 12v?

    I just received my light bar. I am only using the upfitter switches for this install. I have a 2008/F-350. My intent is to use AUX 1, my yellow wire which is in the same location as yours. I will connect the positive wire of the light bar to the yellow upfitter switch and ground the black wire to the truck. The light bar also came with a wiring harness which has an inline fuse and its own relay. I don't plan on using any of these wires. Can you tell me if this is correct?

  • @Big-Foot-Randy

    Really nice job here... Thank you for taking the time to make and share this video.. Are those black ends on the wires "crimp" connectors?
    Now all I need to find is a video on how to pull that lower dash panel off without breaking something...
    Shame on Ford for burying these wires so deep in the truck..

      rvandeloo panels are on snap style holders. You can carefully pull it off.

  • @2fast65
    @2fast65 10 лет назад +1

    in order to get the power through the fire wall do you have to make a connection under the dash I looked in the book and watched you're video and ended up connecting under the dash and pulling my own wire through the fire wall because none of the wires under the hood behind the fuse box were hot this would clarify this a lot thanks.

    • @miket6978
      @miket6978 7 лет назад

      2fast65 there are wires provided for fused power, plus the aux switch outputs, and 4 wires that are dead ended on each side of the fire wall. No need to pull any wires through the fire wall

    So you can hook onto the wires in the engine compartment or under the steering wheel and use the uplift switches,,,correct...also anyone know anything about the rear pig tail connectors in the rear frame of a cab and chassis F 450,,,have three different plug in sets of wires,,the company who installed messed everything up,,, Great video,,thanks so much,,how can so many other people not understand what they are doing.

    So if I understand you correctly...if I wish to power a light at in the front of my truck I should run power to one of the 4 wires in the engine bay, go inside the truck and connect that corresponding wire to the switch wire I wish to use?

    • @hawgwld1504
      @hawgwld1504  Год назад +1

      I actually learned all this because I was installing a light bar into the grill on '12 F350. The Rigid Industry curved with dark lenses looks amazing and is great light bar. 30" fits perfect. In the bed I installed LEDs and put a weatherproof switch into the 5th wheel trailer connector box and used the battery power already in there.

    Krys George...Sorry I do not know of any panels you can remove to make access to the wires under the dash easier... You may try opening door and taking the side trim panel off where the driver door defrost vent is. It pops off if you pull on it. Also you can go to www.helminc.com and order the DVD shop manuals for your truck. I have them and found them worth the price.
