I know this vid is 10 years old, but just to confirm, you will connect the Aux cable to one of the cables that go through the firewall and then connect the end of the through firewall cable to what you want to power? Then flip the switch and it should get the 12v?
I actually learned all this because I was installing a light bar into the grill on '12 F350. The Rigid Industry curved with dark lenses looks amazing and is great light bar. 30" fits perfect. In the bed I installed LEDs and put a weatherproof switch into the 5th wheel trailer connector box and used the battery power already in there.
I’ve watched a few videos about the upfitter switches and yours is the best one yet. The one thing that NONE of these videos addresses is whether or not these circuits are protected by a fuse inside the vehicle or does the upfitter need to protect them after they go through the firewall. I’m going to check it out myself but I’d sure like to get that diagram you have, either directly from you or maybe you’ll tell me where on the web I can find. Thanks for any response.
So for connecting the upfiter switches i find which wire correspond with what switch then put hot wire for device into switch wire then black just ground it correctly right
None of the wires you are showing match up with the wires on my 2015 super duty f series diagram, Hard to believe they would different from 2014. I thinking will my leave radios hard wired to batteries with fuses.
Frist I cannot thank you enough for making this video...yes Ford engineers and accountants should be shot for making these so hard to find and connect...for an extra $5 they could have added 6" of wire to each of these upfitter extensions and made our lives so much easier! Again, thanks for this video...I was able to find them and first thing I did was add extensions to each of them!
So if I understand you correctly...if I wish to power a light at in the front of my truck I should run power to one of the 4 wires in the engine bay, go inside the truck and connect that corresponding wire to the switch wire I wish to use?
Brian- I wired an LED light bar this weekend and I did the aforementioned. Works well and made the job much quicker. Just have to pay attention to the wiring you use.
This is the first video on these upfitter wires that has helped me. I spent half a day chasing and testing wires under the hood, to no avail. All while watching other videos that showed the pass through wires as having direct power from the switches. Thank you. Maybe some trucks are different than your 2014 and my 2011.
So you can hook onto the wires in the engine compartment or under the steering wheel and use the uplift switches,,,correct...also anyone know anything about the rear pig tail connectors in the rear frame of a cab and chassis F 450,,,have three different plug in sets of wires,,the company who installed messed everything up,,, Great video,,thanks so much,,how can so many other people not understand what they are doing.
Man, FINALLY found a video that explains the upfitter wiring! All the others were ambiguous and not as detailed, Plus you found the BBLB files and the link! Thanks a ton! I just bought 2 each 24" two-row LED bars to install in the grille and the info you provided has been helpful! Can't wait to dig into this project!
I just received my light bar. I am only using the upfitter switches for this install. I have a 2008/F-350. My intent is to use AUX 1, my yellow wire which is in the same location as yours. I will connect the positive wire of the light bar to the yellow upfitter switch and ground the black wire to the truck. The light bar also came with a wiring harness which has an inline fuse and its own relay. I don't plan on using any of these wires. Can you tell me if this is correct?
Great vid! Already saw a few before this one but yours specified what i needed to know if i wanted to run an accessory inside the interior and not on the engine side with the upfitter switches. Thanks! Btw, i saw that link you showed on paper on various forums online but once you click on the link it is no longer available unfortunately. Probably someone is trying to make a dime off that info.
Very informative and much appreciated. And you've done enough to help me. I'm not super computer literate, so I could not find the website that you spoke of for Ford. A link would be very nice. Thank you though
This is possibly the most immediately helpful video I've seen on any subject! And I do a LOT of RUclips! You saved me a ton of grief!! The 22 people who thumbs downed are probably working on Jaguars.
Thank you sir for your video. Would have never found the pass through wires without it. I had the fender well cover off looking for them within the main wire loom.
Excellent video. Would have been better if you would have displayed stock wiring diagram for switches as this site does not exist
This the video I was looking for all night! Thank You!

Super helpful video and the location of the diagram was great info too. Thanks for sharing - made my job a lot easier today
I wanna add some led lights in my bed and would like to use the up fitter switches. Maybe a led light bar in the bumper too

Can’t find a link how can I get a bb layout for2016? Any advice much appreciated. Love the video
I would look for the same website I mentioned in the video. Ford provides wiring info for custom bed builders.
Straight to the point! Very informative and no bs! I like what you did. Thanks for the video
Do you still have to run a ground up to the battery?
Yes you will still need to run ground wire. I would use one of the many chassis ground points instead of back to battery.
Definitely the best video out there. Thank you
whats the dummy plug for right above those wires?
Wiring the train horn for Phil’s pu.
Finally thank you very much
Thank you! Most helpful video I have found!!!

Thanks for concise and easy to understand explanation
Looked at 25 videos for this info. This is hands down most informative. Thank you.
Were do u put the negative wire?
So for connecting the upfiter switches i find which wire correspond with what switch then put hot wire for device into switch wire then black just ground it correctly right
Awesome video! Answered all my questions. Thank you, sir!

perfect thanks!
Simple and sweet
Perfect instructions on finding both the upfitter and the pass through wires. Thanks.
Great video. Much appreciated 👍😎

I'll be watching for an answer. I have the same question and can't find a straight answer

Good vid!
Stupid question. Does it matter what wire you use through the firewall. (Example) Brown uplifter to BLk-Wht firewall wire ?
thx for your video just installed rear fog lights on my 2012 f250 and was able to use aux switch 1! very simple thx again
Thanks. Your video really helped me out.
I'm looking all over the place for these wires, can't find them, I watch your video and bang! There they are! thanks
Am I the only one who feels Ford could have gave us a little more wire to play with?🤔

I appreciate the inclusion of the wiring diagram from the fleet.ford.com website. Great video and Thanks!

What are the white colors and what do they go to. What a waste of time

Thank you so much helped me and my dad put some light bars on appreciated it
This is the best video describing the wiring of the Upfitter switches. Your video saved me hours and frustration. Thanks!!
Having trouble finding the wires on the engine compartment side. Any information will help. Are they in that bundle that's wrapped with black tape?
Very informative and much appreciated. And you've done enough to help me. I'm not super computer literate, so I could not find the website that you spoke of for Ford. A link would be very nice. Thank you though

They are probably the people that spent all day trying to run them through another way... lol
