Could a native English speaker please tell me if "these" is right in this context or if it should be "those" . I know the difference is distance in time and space but kinda doesn't work here, does it? "Those" kinda sounds more right to me but idk.
@@yophono5929 "these" implies a sense of closeness and belonging whereas "those" would imply a sense of otherness. For example, when speaking of items on a table, one might say "these are my items and those are not". So in this case, as a chess community, we speak of these queen sacrifices, (and those Backgammon games).
@@yophono5929 definitely "these" sounds, in chess lingo, "more precise". "Those" would be for something distant (physically, or impersonally), something maybe you don't agree with too much. but honestly you don't even really use "those" as much as "these"
Already featured on this channel because of an amazing game with an incredible, almost unfindable bishop sacrifice! It's so pleasing to see that she's progressing so much and continuing to deliver talent and plays/games of such ingeniouity, now in an event like this one!

Bro you should really do a video one day showing how you prepare to make these videos. It's amazing to watch you do these because you seem to know all of the lines in advance (I'm sure you spend some time studying them and also have the benefit of engines). It would be fascinating to see the process you go through to analyze such games, as you are the very best at it that I've ever run across.
Yes I agree he is very much prepared and on top of the game with his analysis that’s great board knowledge to know the correct moves for certain pieces during the Game
Yeah, very smooth, almost casual in tone, like he's telling you about a movie he saw last night. "And so then the bad guy moved to this weird-ass place, trying to hide in the shed or something, but the good guy was distracted by tripping over this lawn ornament, and so then the bad guy darts out of the shed and grabs a rake. Pretty cool move, huh?" Or some such, heh.
Eline seems fine with closed positions. This implies a patient, strategic turn of mind. Then to offer a queen shows x-ray vision, and a deft touch. She is one to watch for sure.
i hope she doesnt stop playing chess. talents like this should get fundings from the state so that they are not distracted by anything else if they wish to master their craft
Get funding from the state?, why should the people of that state should give her money?, no no no. A private enterprise should do it. Nothing good comes from the state
Magnificent win by Elaine R. She always seemed totally in control of the game; the vice just got tighter and tighter for her much higher rated opponent until he cracked. Beautiful. Thkz Agadmator.

Antonio: for Dutch pronunciations of long vowels, some tips- - 'oe' is pronounced like 'oo' in English, as in 'whoop'. So, Roebers sounds like 'Roobers'. - 'oo' is pronounced in a way that 'boot' in Dutch sounds like 'boat'. - 'ie' is pronounced like a long 'i', e.g. 'biet' in Dutch sounds like 'beat'. - 'ij' is pronounced in different ways depending on whether the person is from the Netherlands or from Belgium but to explain the Dutch way, the name 'Lijnder' would sound like 'Line-der'. - the more rare 'ae' is just pronounced like a long 'aa'. You'll often find some names spelled differently (same pronunciation): Maes & Maas, Baet & Baat, etc.
Next challenge: how to pronounce 'ui'. In Dutch it is saying 'a' and 'u' very quickly after eachother with the a being shorter than the u. but how to explain this in English?
@@KeepChessSimple Hahaha I forgot this one. This one's certainly more difficult to explain in English. Again there's a difference in the Flemish and Dutch pronunciation I believe- the Dutch one might be easier as you explained. 'Muis' is pronounced similar to 'mouse' (muis in Dutch does mean mouse)
I enjoyed the way you called the game straight forward full speed ahead very clear and understandable excellent moves in the game you have great insight as well Thank you
Amazing fighting game. Very enjoyable to see players fight in the middle game and not just play for a win in the endgame where material is equal and there is a +0.01 advantage positionally.

A slight correction. When a woman plays the Ruy Lopez, it becomes the Trudy Lopez, named this time not after a chess master but for a San Diego newscaster.
That is why I prefer mixed competitions. It allows for more show stopping games and surprises. And it is just fair that a 2300 woman gets a shot at a 2600+ player, just like her male counterparts.
let's not get ahead of ourselves getting one win against a gm doesn't make her special I hope she doesn't get stuck in the women's section and will go far ahead
Great stuff. Small lesson in Dutch for pronouncing Roebers: the "oe" in Dutch is pronounced like the "oo" in the English word "good". Good to know since we'll be hearing more of her... 🙂
I am Dutch. The 'oe' in Roeber is pronounced like an owl in the night: 'oeh oeh, oeh oeh'. Like the proper pronunciation of that dish from Morocco: Couscous. Or, the English equavalent: when a crowd doesn't like the comedian and goes 'Boo', That's how to pronounce it. (and the 'R' in Dutch is more raw than in English; like an American 'R' combined with the roar of a pitbull (coming from the back of one's throat that is). (the sound could also be compared to someone who is terminally ill, but I like the first comparison better).
For those of us who love the game but do not understand Chess player ratings; what does defeating this significantly higher rated player do to her rating?
Defeating a higher rated opponent grants you more rating points than you would get from an equal or lower rated player. This means for one to get to the next level ( whatever it may be ) you need to defeat higher rated opponents.
This ain't the first Eline Roebers game Antonio has showed on this channel and both games are incredible, she's a great talent!
What a fun and exciting game here! Very impressive in itself, but even more so, to beat someone 300 points ahead of her! Good show Eline!
It's always fun to root for the underdog.
300 ahead, for *now*.
Yea I would be ecstatic. The difference between 2600 and 2300 is huge.

Oo in book and o in loser have different intonations if you’re a native English speaker so I think that’s not quite the case

Best on the Internet.
At the 7:00 minute mark (when asked for the best move possible), what is wrong with pawn takes knight (F6 x E7)?
You will open the f file for the rook to take the queen. And your pawn gonna stuck at e7 or getting eaten later. (Black Queen control the e8)

Isn't the black queen trapped 34.gxf6 if white playes Bd1 at 6:38?
The queen can take on g5 in that case.
That is, if Bd1 instead of gxf6.
Every game with a pawn promotion to a knight is worth recording. And this one is particularly cool. 👍🏽
Once she got the pawn to d5, this neutralized the black rooks, and black king was boxed in.

3 white pawns for the queen to take, once done move black pawns down for promotion, he gave in to early.
From a civil engineers perspective, this game looked like structurally strong
For those of us who love the game but do not understand Chess player ratings; what does defeating this significantly higher rated player do to her rating?
Defeating a higher rated opponent grants you more rating points than you would get from an equal or lower rated player. This means for one to get to the next level ( whatever it may be ) you need to defeat higher rated opponents.
@@sauron4313 How many points will she get from beating this guy? 100? More?
Wow, not 1 queen sacrifice but 2!
4:22 can’t you take the e5 pawn with the bishop? You’d deflect the queen as it would’ve been with check and then mate with the queen on h7, no?
Black is up a rook, so he can afford to meet Bxe5 with Nf6. After gxf6 and Bxf6, black is up an exchange and white's attack has fizzled out.
Black can put a piece in between White's bishop and his queen. Bxe5 Bf6 gxf6 Nxf6 or Bxe5 Nf6 gxf6 Bxf6 and Black is safe and material is equal.
