- Blood runs in the family.
When the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by a mysterious assassin, his eldest son, Charles (Justin Chien) heads to Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen (Michelle Yeoh), and his naive younger brother, Bruce (Sam Song Li) - who’s been completely sheltered from the truth of his family until now.
But as Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction go head-to-head for dominance - Charles and Bruce must figure out what brotherhood and family truly means before someone takes them out.

This show is SOOOO GOOD! HIGHLY recommend! I absolutely love Michelle Yeoh. Seen her work for years. Never dissappoints! Excellent actress.
Such a DAMN good show man, and as an Asian, I'm SO happy that they leaned HEAVILY into the culture. Of course, this only covers a tiny drop in the ocean of Asian culture as a whole, but it was done SO tastefully. Interestingly enough, I found Bruce to be the real antagonist, and his mother and Charles to be the real protagonists. If you're an Asian that's been raised in a traditional household, you'd probably understand why I'm saying this. PLEASE go watch this.
What do you mean by asian culture? People from united state makes me laugh. There are more than 40 countries in asian and each country has their own culture and language. And even within each country there are tons of different culture with their own language. So don't just say Asian culture. Be specific

I literally came to RUclips for the comments to express the same sentiment. I'm only four episodes in, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Surprisingly, it's not even in the sci-fi or fantasy genre, yet the scriptwriting is exceptional. Netflix should definitely produce more seasons, and perhaps even work overtime to bring us more content. We need more enthusiasm!
This was SOOO GOOD!!! Everything was just executed well.. the action, comedy and drama. The storyline was intricate and exciting. The cinematography was even nice.
I didnt know most actors so I wondered if the acting was gonna be believable, though it had Michelle Yeoh so it was a sure watch for me. But after watching the whole series i can say they were all amazing. I hope a second season will come soon!!! WELL DONE to the makers of this series 👏
I just finished the show in less than 24 hours. It was really good and hoping for a second season.

so agree with you! And thats why i dont usually start show series before they have an ending. I am tired to start 1000 shows and then they get cancelled. This market strategy is bad and must be changed. NETFLIX should release fewer series but from start to ending like Squid Game or miniseries. I watched this show because i heard it is good. and it has some kind of ending.

I started watching this yesterday, and finished everything back to back later that day. Talk about a brilliant show!! Brilliant.
They blend comedy, drama, action all the above effortlessly.

Michelle has always been great in the movies/shows she's been in and maybe it's a little biased because its nostalgic seeing her in stuff as I did when I was a kid but the entire show was a masterpiece even with some of the cheesy humor that translated well

OMG, I just finished the series. The Brothers Sun is now one of my top 5 series. What an awesome awesome show. I loved everything about it. Great job you all. If there is going to be a season 2 you will have your work cut out for you because it will be very difficult to outshine Season 1. Very impressive.

This show was soooo damn good, enjoyed and loved it. Michelle was, of course, phenomenal. I see new faces with great acting. And the action was just what I hoped for, bloody and violent. Every episode was nicely executed up to the last. Hoping for a season 2 and not get cancelled by Netflix 🙏
Dang this is an amazing show I really didn’t think I would like it but I love it ; it’s one of those rare shows that actually has good writing and directing! Like most of these shows are written and directed by the minds of 5 year olds; it’s complex and deep yet exciting with the great action scenes !!!

The fact that the first time I even hear about this show is when the news broke out that it got cancelled makes me so mad. Netflix, you can't give a show so little marketing and then be surprised when it doesn't do as well as other heavily marketed shows. Either you're incredibly ignorant or you're deliberately trying to sabotage shows like these, cause I bet you if more people knew about this show, it would've been a big hit.
Also can Hollywood give Michelle Yeoh a show that lasts more than 1 season please??? "First American Born Chinese" and now "The Brothers Sun". Give this woman the respect that she deserves!!!

I really enjoyed The Brothers Sun! The action, fight scenes, drama, character development, storyline, and comedy was well executed. I also really enjoyed the Asian representation in this series, especially the culture, etiquette, traditions, language, food, and martial arts. As an Asian-American, the first thing I noticed in season 1 episode 1 was taking off the shoes in the house. Us asians always take off our shoes in the house as a sign of respect and cleanliness. I also noticed the various times food was cooked for people, which is a sign of appreciation/love. I loved the way the characters interacted with each other and I loved the character development between the brothers, mother, and their friends. One of the most important things I learned from this series is that family is important and must be protected. This was a reminder for me that sometimes I take for granted my own family and I don't always appreciate what they do and have sacrificed. I loved that they made this an important theme in the series and showing how much these characters have sacrificed and what they do for family. I am really looking forward to a season 2 of The Brothers Sun!
This show was such a refreshing watch, it was so well crafted, and purely entertaining. Watched it with my reluctant father and he was sold within a few episodes. Would definitely recommend.

Binged and loved it. I really liked Bruce’s character and development. They handled it really well, giving him his own strengths and an outsider perspective to his father’s control that allowed him an edge over others even without violence
This show was so good. Such a good story, nothing about this show felt cliche. The comedy was so well implemented. Nothing was overdone. Can anyone recommend something similar? I loved this show from the first episode.
