Land of Women stars Eva Longoria as Gala, a New York empty nester whose life is turned upside down when her husband implicates the family in financial improprieties, and she is forced to flee the city alongside her aging mother (Maura) and teenage daughter (Bazúa). To escape the dangerous criminals to whom Gala’s now vanished husband is indebted, the three women hide in the same charming wine town in northern Spain that Gala’s mother fled 50 years ago, vowing never to return. The women seek to start anew and hope their identities will remain unknown, but gossip in the small town quickly spreads, unraveling their deepest family secrets and truths.
Hailing from Apple Studios, and inspired by award-winning author Sandra Barneda’s best selling novel “La tierra de las mujeres," Land of Women is created by Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira and Paula Fernández and is directed by Iris Award winner Carlos Sedes. I felt the "It's a tractor" scream in my bones.
cf. the first episode of Kona Suba where the protagonist mistakes a slow moving tractor for a fast moving truck, goes into a panic, wets his pants, and dies of a stress induced heart attack. It's a comedy, yes, and a cartoon, yes, but better than this.

hopefulyl this will be a show that will actually pop FOR HER as she is a great comedic actress and i do not feel she has done anything hit wise in terms of shows since desperate housewife where she is the lead, so hopefully this will be that thing
Well, Telenovela on NBC wasn’t a hit (it was canceled after 1 season), but I LOVED that show. And yes, she is a great comedic actress!

Not trying to be snarky because I think it’s kind of sad what actors, especially women, feel pressured to do, but… it seems like maybe this star and Sandra may have had the same plastic surgeon? I’m really sorry to see so many people removing their fantastic natural features in favor of what comes to sort of a default standard model.

Some English the rest in Spanish so how can we understand what is being said either get subtitles put into the series or we are stuffed a farce.
It’s hard to say how much Spanish is there. If it’s 50/50 could be turn off for a lot of viewers that don’t speak Spanish or English.

It's Apple TV, so it's pretty unlikely that the local wine farmer is really a cartel member who squashes the unwelcome gun men like a bug.

Movie idea: What if it starts the same way, except when they extort the rich girl for $50 million not only does she not care that it costs that much but she offers an extra $20 million for them to do some other task that they end up hilariously failing at.

So the only spaniard in the movie is Carmen Maura, there's a Chilean actor passing as spaniard, and the trailer have Salsa (which is not at all Latin American or from Spain)
and the lead who's supposed to be the daughter of a Spanish woman has a heavy US latino accent 🤦I think Apple forgot the quality control on this one

Alright. I just saw episode 2. I was floored when they mentioned the daughter was Transitioning. I was fooled, I thought the daughter was a real girl. Until that moment I was fooled. Good for her/him, they/them, whatever. As being an older male I don’t see why TV is promoting this alternative lifestyle as its an everyday occurrence. Sadly to say I did like how it started but I have seen my last episode. I do not condemn the Trans community. You are who you are. But this is not allowed in my household. I have a small child who doesn’t need to be influenced by this lifestyle.
