I really like your videos. For swords why did the Japanese move to the French style sabre when they had been fighting against sabres since the Mongolians and dueling swords since the Portuguese trade era for firearms? They held off so long then kind of adopted the sabre at the end. I read some things that the Japanese tried to make their swords lighter after dueling the Portuguese but we all know duels and battle really are not the same and both should be avoided at all cost. Was it simply they tried to fit in to the shrinking world?
