I wish there was a good 15-20 min setup time with an option to skip it. I hate not being able to put my engineers to work!

I hate to sound redundant, but when I am faced with a conundrum like... 'what is the real difference (as in, IS there any substantive difference) amongst the three variants of the T 34-85 in GoH Ostfront?' your compendium is usually the one that will tell me when all others fail to show anything I can actually see at a glance without having to pull up the editor and do the file tracking myself...
    Thanks again as always, ~Dim

All the t3485 are the same except some have anti panzerfaust cages on them which don't work tbh

@@SirJellyBean Thanks so much for the kind responses - Your reviews are quite specific when there is or 'may' be some actual effect, which is why I follow them. Situations like these models (that still cost very real research points) are either areas of dev work still to be fleshed out or will push out the tree more in the future. I suppose It is also possible that maybe there really IS some sort of effect (or supposed to be) , but if there is, they really should make this explicit rather than a test of the player's ability to use a good bibliography to see if there 'may' be some utility in spending the extra resource.

31:06 - Well, actually... They don't use the cages for anti-tank weapons so much any more, they use them as "anti-drone"-cages. And Ukraine have started to do the same. Turns out a single cheap Iranian drone can take out an old first gen Abrams. Drones are quiet effective weapons, at least for now. Well, I guess that does make them "anti-tank weapons", but... yeah.

@@boringpolitician cages in ww2 were for anti tank weapons tho as no drones were invited yet that what I'm getting at biddy

@@SirJellyBean - Yes they were, uh, even back then (the buzzer), though not as anti-tank, no. But no, you went on a tangent about the Russians using them in their invasion of Ukraine. I continued on that tangent. That's all. Not correcting you, just a meme (google "well actually"), and just adding to your tangent.
You did a great job on going through all the units (but you missed the commissar, which is a unit I was curious about). Nice video all together!

Slight disagreement on the notion of field gun vs howitzer, that's the wrong answer, the correct one is Yes!
They tend to reload faster, have more AT rounds and be more accurate that really nicely compensates for the lack of range and indirect fire.
You need only park one of those on a hill and the enemy dare not approach without heavier armor, two tubes and you've got a veritable killzone established.

    • @RiversJ
      @RiversJ 6 месяцев назад +1

To clarify, you want 2 field guns and couple of howitzers. Giving you the ability to bombard remote strong points and also push with infantry against anything but heaviest of armor.

I want some long range artillery that I can loop high in the air over buildings like the mortars. How can I tell with the bigger guns what’s a field gun (low arc more direct shot) and what’s a artillery gun that will fire high in the air that I’m after as they both look similar?

    • @SirJellyBean

Is 2 1944 and 1945 are super good for holding and pushing positions get one of them 2 t34 85s and you got your salf a full blown beast is 2 can deal with the king tiger and the t 34s with the men on the ground use flame engineers for the positions with a lot of men and you shuld be fine for the hole campaign

    • @Goran1138

Main disadvantage of IS2 is low reloading speed. Thats why it is much better to use them in groups of 3-4 tanks.
I'm usually using 4 Is-2 with 2 T-60 or T-70 with attached soviet supply vagon (Т-70 and Т-60 can pull all, exept heavy guns like BS-3 or A-19)
      This combination just amazing.
IS2, like any heavy tank, very often suffers from suddenly appeared enemy soldiers with AT grenade or molotov cocktail. DsHK gun on the 1945 can help in such cases, but as any AA gunner without protection, it is much better to hold crewman inside the tank, because under heavy enemy fire he will not survive long.
T-60 is a best infantry killer in the game. When those little beast covering their big brothers two steps behind them, no one can pass. And with attached supply vagons they are "feeding" not only their automatic gung, but also big 122mm guns of IS-2 without any risk to be hit from infantry rifles, like typical supply truck.
