    Its a fine line between assertive and aggressive, as coach mentions, really it's confident, confidence is what you need , get comfortable with bring uncomfortable..( thats a tai chi lesson in mma )

    When I go out and make friend every day I can build an army and win every fight.
    btw this remind me one scene from one book, the best self defence technique recomended by martial art master was: Say hello, introduce yourself and shake hand.

    3:13 That sounds a lot funnier than it should. Ya either have 300 enemies, who you have to look out for, or 300 friends who look out for you
    But it’s true that making friends is a hard thing to do. It really does take courage to be acquainted with complete strangers, and maintain that relationship to the end of days.

    Hey, coach! Bryan here. Since size is a big factor in competitive fighting. I was wondering who will win a fight between you at 155 lbs with a full training camp or you right now at walking weight without a training camp. Im curious bc some podcasters like joe rogan claim that massive weight cutting is actually a disadvantage. Since the fighter going through a massive weight cut have near death experience before the day of the fight.

      @@RamseyDewey I think you misunderstood the question I asked . Is the body mechanics of karate punches the same as boxing punches and the only difference being the power-line . You said you did shotokan so I thought you’d be the ideal person to ask as you’ve studied both boxing and karate . It’s the same person but this is my account from now on , I was using someone else’s account. It would be a huge help for you to explain . Big fan of the channel

    Question about size I'm confused about if you look at Osman or Colby they look like physically imposing characters but if you look at Leon Edwards or even Kbebib they look like purple belts who lift 4 days a week when is size or muscle trivial to technique I guess is what I'm asking.

    Hello Coach I am 6 days late, but I have a question.
    I am 65 years old. Fit. No combat training experience, and have been boxing (training myself on a heavy bag) for a month in a fitness gym (as opposed to a boxing gym). I live in Thailand in Bangkok. I have embarked on a new adventure it seems - boxing. Western boxing. I am having fun. In the gym I go to a few people do mitt work, typically every day a couple of people do this. I think it looks like a bunch of showy useless nonsense.
    I spend my time doing footwork drills, and hitting the heavy bag, mostly. I do 12 rounds. I trade up light and hard and sometimes a shadow box round, in the middle, plus some double end bag but most of my work is on the heavy bag. A very well thought out workout. 3 mins. 1 min break x 12. And normal fitness - at a time interval to suit my age.
    I am planning on going to a boxing camp at a real boxing gym sometime in the next couple of months. My plan is to do some sparring - against instructors or I suppose students with headgear, including face shield. In other words at 65 years old. I prefer to avoid concussions (yes I know that that head gear does not protect against that) and a broken nose. So I picture the kind of sparring I have seen you doing in which you have gloves on but do not squeeze a fist. Yet I am aware I could step into a partners punch and get hit even though it was at 10 percent of his power. I suppose I could spar a bit heavier. But would be wary. But honestly the sparring is what I want. So I suppose I go where it goes, within reason.
    So when I go to such a camp I expect to continue to fitness I normally do, the bag work I normally do, addition of new bags I have never used, and some sparring. What I am NOT looking forward to is wasting time on mittwork.
    Honestly I do not feel I am at a level of boxing, or learning, to get any benefit whatsoever out of such practice. And it really seems like it is not necessary, and even in these boxing gyms when I see it - I don't see anything that is worth taking time away from bag work, in which I simply do 1-2, or even 1-1-111-1 as long as I need to. or practice hooks in form, balance etc.
    To me mittwork seems like something to do with someone who knows you, and is working on specific things with you to tighten up already good skills, on someone who already knows how to box, project power, and has speed and skills.
    Would I be wrong if I went to one of these camps and tried to avoid mitt work? I would rather spar, even light spar, technical spar , without mitts, and work various bags. Am I just going against the grain? Too old school?

    Hey Ramsey I got a question recently in my town a new gym is opened up they named it the asylum which I don't appreciate because I'm bipolar and it's a serious problem for me in my life I thought about challenging their leader in combat but I hesitate to confront them I'm not sure if the way I feel is Justified or not what do you think?

    Coach I'm have a real problem. When I spar, no matter how hard I try, I always seem to accidentally hurt my training partners (not majorly, but more than they're comfortable with). They understand I'm not trying to hurt them, and mentally I'm going to tap them, to barely touch them not to hurt them at all and as slow as I can while still landing. But people are starting to avoid me now. Could you give me any tips on how to spar lighter. Thank you, it's much appreciated.

    do you have advise for people with anxiety. people with anxiety cant talk to people. Is there anything else you can do to be more assertive?

      Honestly, I'd say do exactly that, build a tolerance to social interaction, you don't have to try get to know these people at first maybe just a "Hello, how's your day" for now, hell you could even just start with a simple "Hello" and not go any further which might be weird idk but you can try doing so when interacting cashiers at the store, etc... Obviously, you're going to encounter people who don't want to converse but then it's just a gg go next moment. I think the hard part is getting over that initial hurdle of facing social interaction. I mean idk if I have social anxiety, but I would say I'm socially inept so I'm trying to just force more interactions, like when I go to training, I'll try ask people I'm pairing up with how they're doing and what not (keeping in mind this is something I'd never to before). Just do something simple and you'll eventually build up the courage/tolerance to actually try get to know a stranger and eventually you'll build up your assertiveness to a decent level or that's at least what I'm trying to do.

      This is my advise for people suffering from social anxiety (coming from a guy who suffered from social anxiety) You cannot do anything until you do it.

      I know it's been like 5 days since I replied last, but I've been thinking about things as usual and realized that I actually have really coherent thoughts, but the problem lies in my ability to actually articulate those thoughts. Which ended up leading me to the thing some people do when preparing for presentations or speeches, they'll actually say their speech or whatever out loud maybe in a mirror or just to themselves. I think I'll probably try doing something similar to that, where I actually think out loud when I'm alone which could maybe be awkward at times if I have bad rng, but it seems like a good way to actually begin translating those thoughts into actual words. Might not be the best, but I doubt it's the worst. Anyways just thought I'd share this; in case you have the same problem.

    how do all? mum and dad, good bless them, apart from college tuition, [ though unfair subject wise ], would give us 3 weeks at papamoa nth isl n.z. bay of plenty holiday camp. i loved bodysurfing the never ending 8 - 12 ft. waves rolling in from the pacific. been at it for 3 hrs and getting tired though a surface rip was calling time to go back to tent for lunch.
    being hooked kept zipping out to catch another then thought last one. too late. the rip too strong.
    kept tryin to no avail for 10-15 mins.. two old ducks and a bloke early 20's. put arm up and he came out. after trying unsuccessful for another ten he suggested both swim hard as then he'ld put hands together and launch me 9 up out of water
    and after paddling hard as, caught the wave and got to shore. waited 10 more mins till he finally made it.
    close on 4hrs whole body workout that morning with 40% extra strength non stop for last quarter hr.
    perhaps your whitebelt bloke should find a beach or pool and keep swimming for] till unable to do another lap or 5mins. then go for longer next. it would strengthen core and endurance no end i'm sure. happy paddling. taztez.

I have fought many matches in fulll contact since\ 1982__No hold bar /Kickboxing etc.. Date of birth 05/06/ 1972.. so much different in full contact karate/jujutsu..Thank you my JAPANESE 😅 TRANS LATION …My closest example is Chuck Norris.. and many in his time as my teachers.. DOB 05/06/1972 ..
