    🦒🙌💁 rat tail? It sure fits the long terete leaves!!! It's a very interesting genus, Paraphaelenopsis. One of those that really would look rather amazing on a mount. But when we do not have a dog to go hunting with, we take the cat, as we say around here. And so, she also looks nice in that pot as those long leaves look juicy and healthy. Happy days 🙌❤️💐😍

      FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 good evening, meine liebe Freundin! Not just in the cacti family are there rats tails 😅 this one is the non fuzzy variety of rat tail. It would be perfect on a mount, yes! And if I can think of space indoors, without the headache of breaking roots that refuse to grow on a mount but stick straight out, then I would definitely mount it, and spray the dickens out of it during the warm and windy days. To have this one mounted would make me feel a lot better. The one root I potted up was heading into my laelia lundii 🙄 it's own pot was not good enough? Nope, it chose to grow as straight as a doornail. At least we have one active root tip in the pot, which was in the leca already 👍🏼 I was so happy to see that. And thank you so much for watching. I have not been around for the past days, only managing to do the minimum of what needs to be done. I will try and email you when I have caught up with things. Thank you so so much for everything, amiga mia! 😘 the past week was tough.... and next week may be a repeat of this week. Now I have the weekend and hope to catch up, play with the orchids, clean the house ... 🤦🏼‍♀️ your support is priceless! 😘🌸 hope your day was a happy FriYAY ❤️🌸

      HI Robert 😍💐 how cewwwt!! First dance 🥰🥰 awhhh!! *melt! Boooo ... Drs. appointment, well, maybe not, if she is pretty 😋 thank you for squeezing me in, so much appreciated. I feel special 🤗 the marbles you can see! If I can shake out the loose ones in my head, through my ears, the way I used to get water out of my ears after swimming... picture hopping on one leg while head is tilted comme ca 🤪 you get the picture. I could then use those as reserves for my stash 😂 thank you, for coming over to play! Was good to see you and well... you have yourself the best day you can, and really enjoy that first dance 🙌🏼👯‍♀️❤️🌸

    Paraphalaenopsis, or as i like to call ours, the orchid that cried wolf. Every year it starts going yellow, I get scaresld it's rot, turns out, it's losing a leaf to make a new one, but in the most dramatic way! Thank you for sharing your tips.

    • @NinjaOrchids
      @NinjaOrchids  2 года назад +1

      HI 🤩💐 the orchid that cried wolf, indeed! Thankfully, in the four years that I have grown this orchid, I have only lost one leaf. It better not do anything out of the ordinary this winter, and that also includes NOT rotting out the roots I potted up. It appears not to be such a big orchid that I could afford loosing another leaf 😅 if I could teleport my patio to a hot steamy climate, this orchid would be so happy, as would I! Hope it keeps the roots! Thank you so much for watching 🤗 I hope you are both doing well and, wish you a fabulous evening 🌸

    🤗🤗Habari Nina, hi, what a seriously peculiar looking orchid. I would love to see that grow and bloom in your care. Don’t understand the ParaPhalaenopsis name at all….Para prefix meaning beyond makes it even more weird. If plants and animals could speak could you imagine the trouble that humans would be in for giving them daft names? 😂🤣 Asante sana rafiki , for yet another new orchid to me. Have a beautiful, peaceful and enjoyable Friday.💕😘🌼🥰🌸

      HI Sue 😍💐❤️ jambo sana rafiki yangu!! Sawa sawa hapa! Isn't it funky? 🤪 I hope that it will accept the roots in the pot now. Super important for them not to decline! I have the origin of the name in the description of the video, because... isn't it weird that back in the day, this orchid was considered a phalaenopsis and no, the blooms do not resemble phal blooms in any way 🤷🏼‍♀️ muy raro! Raton! 😂 thank YOU, so much, for watching! So appreciate your support and I hope that you had a great Friday ❤️ wishing you the same for the weekend, Sue ❤️🌸

    Never seen that plant before is it the one with the big pink blue floppy flowers that are hanging down don’t think you’d be any good for my environment anyway but I should come and visit your house thanks for sharing this video very interesting

      HI Andrea 😍💐no, that is the Seidenfadenia mitrata, which I used to have but the roots did not appreciate leca and self watering, because it got too cold for the orchid in winter. I could not keep it happy during the warmer months of the year either, because I don't have the humidity. A beautiful orchid though, and I wish I could grow it in my climate 🥲 I am hoping that, the roots I potted up will not fail. I do not want to loose this orchid, but we will know more as the winter starts and she doesn't get the light. The fact that I have one growing tip that grew in leca, gives me hope 🤞🏼 thank you, so very much for watching! I hope your Friday was fabulous ❤️🌸

    Hola, mi oregunta es si hay mucha diferencia dn el cultivo entre paraphalaenopsis labukensis y una phalaenopsis común? Est esoecie me encanta, pero no me atrevo a cultivarla, aunq las phalaenopsis comunes se me dan bien. 1 saludo desde España

      ¡Hola Pedro! 😍💐 ¡bienvenido! No lo había visto aquí antes, así que primero que nada una cálida bienvenida y segundo, gracias por estar aquí, por mirar y por su pregunta. Agradezco mucho el apoyo 🫶🏼 La paraphalaenopsis tiene las mismas condiciones de cuidado que una phalaenopsis estándar, eso sí. Puedes tomar la guía y aplicarla sin ningún problema, sin embargo, hay 3 cosas que me gustaría señalar, cuáles son las paraphalaenopsis preferidas y las phalaenopsis estándar que pueden prescindir. La paraphalaenopsis necesita mucha más luz y puede soportar el sol directo en su mayor parte, si hay suficiente flujo de aire para enfriar las hojas. No es bueno para las orquídeas phalaenopsis. Además, la paraphalaenopsis necesita mucha más humedad para funcionar bien en comparación con la phalaenopsis. No les crecen muchas raíces y la baja humedad detendrá el crecimiento de nuevas raíces (eso es con lo que estoy luchando con la mía). y por último, a las paraphalaenopsis no les gustan nada las temperaturas frías. El mío se sigue parando porque no puedo mantener la temperatura por encima de los 20ºC durante el invierno. Entonces, el hecho de que el mío siga vivo es un milagro. Pero el mío lo tengo desde el 2018, y se ve que no ha avanzado mucho. Además, crecen muy lentamente, por lo que los meses ideales del año son demasiado cortos para que se fortalezca antes de que vuelva el invierno. Espero que estos consejos te sean de ayuda para tomar la decisión de adquirir uno. Estoy de acuerdo contigo en que es una especie maravillosa y que vale la pena cultivar. Ojalá algún día pueda volver a encender luces y alfombras térmicas durante el invierno. Sin embargo, en este momento, no puedo permitirme el costo adicional de hacerlo. Si tiene más preguntas, no dude en preguntar. Mientras tanto, les deseo un día maravilloso y una vez más, bienvenidos. 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    I would think that plant is actually bloom size, the leaves look plenty long enough as a mark of maturity. Maybe a little more root production and it will give you some blooms next spring/summer, but that requires those roots that got put into the pot to not fail so 🤞all goes according to plan.
    I'm pretty much done now with hurricane cleanup. The yard looks a right mess, but I don't have the tools to deal with that, the village idiots are going to have to come around with a rake or something. In the spring I'll assess the mounted orchids and decide if I'm going to put new ones up or just forget it. Two hurricanes in five years, when we hadn't had one for thirteen yeas and EIGHTY before that, it might be a losing battle, they're just going to keep coming.

    • @NinjaOrchids

      Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! You think that the length of the leaves is long enough to deem it blooming size? Wow... I would have expected them to be at least double the length, but... yes, priority is for the roots I potted up to NOT deteriorate! 80/20, 80, they will fail and 20 they will make it. But, I have one that is doing fine in leca with that growing tip, sooooo that may just be it's saving grace. You are a rock star, amongst other things! To get what you could take care of, done so fast. I have to say that, this is going to be super interesting to see who pulls through given the open canopy. I suppose that all are so fixed to the tree that you can't remove them and pot them up in the interim? I look at my lycaste with the shredded leaves from the wind that I complain about and feel guilty for being so frustrated with the conditions in August, and parts of September. Meanwhile, that was also because it was messing up my so desperately desired HOT summer, which I was robbed of. Meh 😒 I am side eyeing 2022 from ALL sides! I have to get to bed soon, because tomorrow it is rock and roll as Cinderella, Orchids and RUclips, well also Sunday, but doing the twist with the hoover is not what I am looking forward to... I best get to bed pronto. Thank you so much for watching, my friend! Thank you so very much for your support, on my channel, but more importantly as a friend ❤️🌸

      @@NinjaOrchids honesty, pulling them off the tree would be certain death, because they are already so damaged losing the roots on top of that would be a step too far. At least with broken pseudobulbs, the rhizome is still there and the possibility of new growths and a root system to support it.
