That museum statue was originally released by Marmit (still the maker of the best Giger Alien sculpts) in 2004 for the ALIEN 25th Anniversary as a 24 inch vinyl model kit. I know because I have one. It's since been done again by Marmit in co-operation with Medicom and released through Sideshow this time as a polystone statue. And a bargain at $725. The kit cost me $400AUD in '04. Now it seems Cool Props and now Prime1 have basically gone and copied Marmits original 24 inch kit. So that makes 4 different versions of the two foot statue now floating around the original Marmit/Vinyl kit the Marmit & Medicom Polystone statue version the Cool Props Polystone statue and now the Prime1 polystone statue. As for your statues, very nice indeed. But for the money they are asking for these pieces you'd expect zero issues whatsoever. I personally prefer the museum piece myself. The semi open mouth on the second sculpt looks great but the pose, well with all due respect it looks like the alien is about break into song and dance. I'm seeing Micheal Jackson doing Billie Jean. And again no offence mate. It's just my personal opinion. On the plus side I love the bases. Makes me want to custom build my own one for my 24 inch kit. Great stuff. Thanks dude, I’ll have to grab some of that, I always use blutac but earthquake putty sounds stronger, lol. Hope yours has less issues then mine, I’ve been pretty unlucky with these big chaps.
I prefer this to any other big chaps in the market. You get an open mouth portrait and an extra bust, which is awesome. You get 2 for 1. I think this will become a highly sought after piece just like the dog alien.
Thanks bud, yeah here I go again with prime 1 customer service. I think if you get a good one with no issues it is definitely the big chap to have. I thought I wouldn’t feel much for it after the museum one and the issues I had and am still having with it, but I keep wanting to check it out despite its flaws which is saying something. It actually looks like someone in the suit.
Thanks for the heads up on the bust stand. A shame that Prime 1 QC feels almost non-existent at times. Still very hyped for mine to arrive. Gonna look great next to the P1 Dog Alien and the warrior (whenever it ships lol)
It’s a beautiful piece, after my experience with the last I thought I wouldn’t care much for this one now but it’s really a great looking piece. Yeah the stand needed to be solid not hollow to hold that head up. It’s going to need to be fixed to a table for sure. Horrible design. I’ll be getting the warrior also, still not decided on the queen.
I love both it’s hard to decide but next to each other, the big chap is more film like where as the preds colouring is very bright and more styled for the comic. Big chap is far more rare but jungle predator is my favourite character. The 1/3 pred I’d choose easily over big chap but between these 2 I couldn’t decide.

The big game isn’t so rare so maybe the price will stay the same . I love both. Probably my fav predator statue as I love the pose . Same with the alien as I love the stalking pose captures the fear of the first film

Yeah mine just came in. My feet are close together too. I was hoping for a wider foot print like the box art pics. That tweak they made took a point off this piece. My only complaint.

Exactly there shouldn’t be any problems, I don’t think these are being thoroughly looked over or assembled first before they are boxed up. Way too expensive for ignorant factory workers IMO. Yeah I prefer the Coolprops to the museum version in that pose, it’s more accurate. But if I was to pick one big chap to keep it would be this one, the deluxe.
Did you get the battle damage bust for the 1/3 scale predator? I ordered two limited versions. I like the battle damaged look, but I’ll think I’ll pass on it unless they drop the price.

@@Roscoe0583 there’s no way there going to sell 1500 of these if you go by the people’s outcry on the forums, so the ES is going to be very small in turn making it even more sought after on the secondary market in the future. I might buy another one just for resale later on, this one piece might end up being the holy grail of predator pieces.
@@OneSixPloitation I think they still will sell out, everything Predator does it may just take a little longer. I know there is an outcry but a lot of non vocals will buy it anyway. It’s the BD, open mouth and masked that I feel won’t sell that much, no one asked for them and their edition is TBD, however they will be offered to different worldwide distributors so interesting to see how many they sell. I just feel P1 have over complicated this whole release now. The bust is definitely overpriced. You get 2 heads, 2 stands and a whole bunch of bonus items with the DX for $500 extra. But this 1 head on a torso is $900. Definitely taking advantage of collectors.
@@Roscoe0583 100% they are taking advantage, there’s no argument about it the price is ridiculous and it shouldn’t be $900 more like $450 for the people who purchased/pre ordered the statue and $550 for those who didn’t. The outcry is absolutely correct but a lot of people have already spent the limit at $3k. I think people who didn’t buy the statue will put money down faster than most who have dropped $3k on the statue, that’s the only way it will reach 1500 sales, that said,it will be sought after on the secondary market In the future, it’s a no brainer. But these days with all the scumbags recasting Cinemaquette predator, it will be only a matter of time and some people just won’t care if they can pick it up for $150 from them.
Piece looks great but I feel prime 1 cheaped out this release. At this price range these issues should not happen. why would you not chrome the teeth? you charge more for the DX bust only for it not have structural integrity?
Completely agree, I should be ecstatic to receive this but with both big chaps all I’ve felt is stress and no joy. Once everything is resolved it should be ok but that initial unboxing should be special, especially at this price range plus huge shipping fees and customs. No chrome on the teeth was a big let down but it’s the least of my worries with this piece, I would like the head and tail replaced at least but I hate that I will have to smash them first and have to hope the new pieces fit. The second head stand seems like an afterthought, I really don’t know who is checking these at the factory, I don’t think they seem to care, never used to be like this with P1.

I always tend to think I'm the only one with bad luck regarding statues... I hope Prime 1 gives you a solution, specially with the head. Is it just me or these Prime 1 Big chaps are way more bigger than the sideshow one? I thought they all were the same scale but comparing side by side they are absolutely not.
You’re welcome! Yeah I’ve had a horrible run of luck of late but never had much of an issue before these big chaps. I can live with the other things but the head needs to be replaced. I’m still waiting on a 3rd tail for the museum piece. P1’s chaps are way bigger than sideshows. Sideshows is 1/4 and Prime 1’s is 1/3 scale.

It sure is a beast, prime 1 didn’t specify size due to licensing in which they called it wall art to get around it I think. It’s really heavy also, definitely need to take it all apart to move it.
@@Faust1169 big chap was mottled and greyish/brown on the suit. In the film it looks black due to lighting, if you check out production stills you will see the paint on the suit is like this.

Yes they are very imposing and impressive pieces, they look and feel exactly like the quality of the dog alien but casting, quality checks and fitment seem to be a bug issue with them now. My dog alien was perfect also and they made over 1500 of those. Maybe covid has affected things I don’t know. Painted teeth is definitely a cheap out, I still love my sideshow chap but it’s age does show next to these 2, but at least with SS their aliens were solid polystone, not the polyresin P1 seem to use.
The 2 statues are nearly identical, slightly different pose, the first one looks ridiculous, looks like he’s a soldier standing at salute, the pose is so unnatural for an alien, why on earth would they make a pose like that? Looks so bad, I’ve never seen that one before, I’ve seen this new one, but not that other one, it’s terrible. But don’t know why they’d make the new one nearly identical, same base, same background, similar pose.
First off you’d need to know the history of the Giger designed big chap. The one in the natural pose is based off what the suit looked like on film. The one standing straight is based off the very original alien sculpt made by H.R Giger which is still in his museum in Switzerland. They are different, subtle but different. There are plenty of references out there of the suit standing tall. That’s why it’s called the museum edition.
This is the film suit with non anamatronic head, it was pretty clear and you can see it if you search production pics on Google images. This is slightly fogged. The anamatronic head with fogged dome was the Rambaldi head, used for close up shots, no one has made that yet. There were 3 different versions in the production of the film all up.
@@Roscoe0583 yeah I just wish it had the rambaldi head sculpt it’s fantastic otherwise . Just never been keen on the visible skull. Perhaps one day we will see a rambaldi sculpt. They should have had that as an alternate head sculpt. Nice collection however 👍🏼

That's a good idea for keeping it from topling over. Does that earthquake putty leave any residue stains once removed?

I bought the Kotobukyia Big chap. I can highly recommend this figure. It looks like these statues but just smaller.

Are the feet closer together on the replacement museum pose? The original one you got looked like the spacing was a bit wider between the feet.
Yeah this one looks a touch closer, just missing each other. All these aliens tend to be slightly differently cast.

The predator 1/3 scale better not have QC issues. It’s videos like these that causes FUD in these companies.

P1’s chaps are way bigger than sideshows. Sideshows is 1/4 and Prime 1’s is 1/3 scale.

Head looks way too visible glad I cancelled mine personally. The skull is just too clear looks like barely any misting whatsoever
