I seen Mark Sandman (Couple days maybe? It couldn't have been more than a couple weeks anyways) in Vancouver downtown east side (MY old hood) before he died in Italy. I was a fan and choked that I was too broke to afford tix for the previous evening's show so I noticed him right away. Seemed to me he was searchin' for party favors? I came to know that gait...that wail...living there and seeing it day in day out. It was as sun was just coming up...and in MY shit hood too. No good reason to be there anyways. He was alone and too preoccupied and speedy and I was out of it a bit too...to be some kinda' 'super fan' and bug him so I just let the guy be. Man the guy looked rough and looked even worse than I felt. I was on my own way back from gawd knows what myself. They SAY it was a heart attack but heck all I know is...THAT was a guy with tombstones in his eyes...I look back on their music now and am constantly impressed with how original, soulful it is and how well it aged. It's really too bad he died so young.
I honestly couldn't hazard a guess it wouldn't be right to speculate...but that particular early morn'...that was a rough looking dewd sall' I know! So was I! :)
It’s likely Sandman had already had already had a small heart attack before the fatal one. He did. Or use hard drugs, at least not by the time he was in Morphine.
@@kantina4765 I’m not speculating: I know many of his former friends and most if not all of his former band mates. The man smoked tons of reefer and cigarettes. I imagine he indulged in cocaine during the snow storm of the 80s, but the man did not do opiates. The day before he died, he and the band took a hike up the mountain to see the temple of fortune. Mark felt I’ll and was complaining of pain in his shoulder, which is a symptom of heart attack. And the guy was not a complainer. Dana is one of my closest friends. He says Mark did not do hard drugs. I believe him.
Seriously Josh Homme, we don't give an F what your opinion about Mark Sandman is. And do not pretend as if you were a big fan of his, now that Sandman and Morphine getting their well deserved recognition from a broader audience. Talk about how your ego ruined KYUSS instead. I'm all ears
You must have no idea about the history of kyuss, right? I'm not bitter at a band, I'm bitter at josh homme, his ego and his get the money and run attitude ruined it all. And now that morphine and sandman getting at last the recognition they deserved, guess what? He jumped on the "how great they were". F that shit. Josh mainstream homme
This guy has been on the edge of some seriously tragic situations. Must be very strange.
I saw QOTSA at Cains Ballroom and it was a concert I will never forget.
Hey another tulsan!!!
incredible, one of my 2 favorite bands
I seen the QOTSA at THE FOX THEATER in PAMONA they were awesome!
Super bummed out, and you still have to jam into that tiny car.
Josh Homme is just as amazing musically as Morphine
Not even close
neither have queens. both morphine and queens are incredible
Why is this even a thing? They're all incredible artists, truly and sincerely. Why even have a competition about it?
Not even a chance. Sandman is amazing. I and others have been bored to tears by Josh.
what Morphine song is playing in the back ground?? gracias :)
Sandman always recorded stuff, so it could've just been a jam Morphine did during a rehearsal.

You think he had secret party demons that led to his death maybe? Wouldn’t be unusual. I’ve just gotten into them. ‘In spite of me’ what a track!

@@davidfinkledrums we’ve all been there I suppose! Unfortunately!

Brate..... ahahha. ne verujem da sam te nasao na ovom videu.. Lol!
And what sounds like Qotsa? All of their albums have been different..
I guess for this "Rated R" was the kind of music that fits that period Josh is talking about.
Oh sh*t
Es mas bueno Josh
It’s funny I love qotsa but I hate Josh

That some bitter shit spouting out your keyboard man. Leave that toxicity at the door
To quote Kurt Cobain during the recording of MTV's "Live and loud concert" when a Heckler shouted "MTV SUCKS!"
- "Then why are you here?"
Wow man...are you really that bitter about a band? Let alone a band "Gasp" liking another band?
