Absolutely Luka…I too, think every aspiring builder should venture into kit-bashing, scratch-building, etc., as soon as possible. They will learn so much more, so much sooner, especially when it comes to problem-solving. Thinking “outside the box”, when it comes to part-sourcing, will also generate a lot of creativity, not to mention saving money (compared to “after-market” detail parts), with great results and an enormous amount of self-accomplishment. There are so many resources for parts, if you just keep an open mind. Personally, I think you should finish the truck - can’t you use a “shop truck”, to add to the studio, anyway ? Thanks again for sharing. Cool stuff!

I say if you learned anything from it then it was a success !
I built a 78 F150 years ago, (i was a teenager) it was the one in light blue plastic. I shorted the box up to 6ft, cut the frame and bed sides ...... I did it how it made sense to me at that time, it didn't look bad ..... but It didn't look good either. LOL I learned.
    Great video ! 🍻

So cool to look back and see how you did it then and then look at how much you have learned and the way you build now. Look at the frame its really good man that a low frame for sure would have look good if you would have finished it thanks for the look back enjoyed

You really need to finish that one. Although there is some mistakes in it, you definitely have the skills now to make that a very good looking model. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for this video … I hope to build models that are not completely stock … BUT with all the skills you have developed since I feel this truck deserves to be finished and on a shelf not lingering in an old box 😔 that would show the appreciation for what you learnt from it !!

From all the R2 kits I've had to get replacement parts for, I'm building a pretty good parts box of warped parts, plus all the extras they come with. I've recently bought some Evergreen rod and square rod I've got some ideas for my twisted bodies, frames and mangled trailer parts.

My first kitbash was neat. I had a 1969 Camaro RS/SS Convertible kit that I lost motor from and a 1980's era Corvette ZR1 kit that was busted up. I tore Corvette apart and pulled the motor, radiator, transmission and driveshaft from the Corvette and stuffed it in Camaro frame. Tried both exhaust pipes and Camaro one wouldn't reach Corvette exhaust manifolds and Corvette pipes didn't reach back of Camaro frame. So I cut Camaro exhaust near the exits, where the pipe bent. I connected one end to Corvette manifolds and had the exhaust straight exit behind front Camaro wheels. I then noticed driveshaft didn't fully reach Camaro differential, so I took straight section of exhaust pipe and glued it between differential and end of driveshaft. I then took part of Corvette body to make an extra mount for radiator between center of radiator and front center of Camaro lower suspension mount. I then took Corvette driveshaft shield plate and hid where the driveshaft ended and exhaust pipe was connected, making it look as if it was a solid driveshaft.
