Your description shows that sponsorship only means financial support. Sponsorship also means that there is some one who knows you and taking responsibility for you even when you are paying for your entire trip. Correct me if I am wrong.

Sponsorship can only be made by a relative, not a friend, and if a friend is able to sponsor someone, it'd only be for a short time no longer than 3 weeks. The sponsored person could not work or attend school here. They will need a work or a student visa for that.
