- Welcome to my darkroom.
I'm thrilled to be back in my darkroom working on new art. Feels so good to once again use my Beseler Dichro 67s.
I hope you enjoy this video. Thank you for sharing this space with me.
First! I love our videos. I too, am a film photographer. None of the local photographers that I know also shoot film, so I rarely get into fun film conversations. When I see your videos, I feel like we are hanging out talking about film photography. You seem really cool and authentic so I really enjoy hanging out with you during your videos.
Always a pleasure to watch your process!
This is a great episode ! Lots of great answers! Follow your heart. You will be making a living as an artist! Sell those beautiful prints! Fiber is the best!
Great video. There was another fellow here on YT who did a video on whether it makes a difference to pre-soak or not and WOW - does it ever! For the better I might add. Again, thanks for sharing your life and your passion with us.
Fantastic video, as always. I love your passion for film. But just a question: Why put water in the tank after development? As far as I know, the stop bath stops the development process. But this does the water already if you exchange it two times. If you put the stop bath right after the developer, you get a way more precise stop of the development process - that's what I learned.
When I was learning to develop film I heard that agitation can cause bubbles to form on the film so you should tap the tank several times on the table to shake them off.
Thank you, enjoyed the walk through of the process.
I’m glad you liked it! 😊 thanks!
you can use the water after the developing for a stop bath.
Thanks!
I'm pleased you've got your enlarger fixed.
I used to have a Mamiya 645. It was an excellent camera but it didn't really suit me as it's cumbersome to hand hold. It's best for tripod or studio use.
I mostly used ID11 (same as Kodak D76) and you have to increase development time by 10% each time you reuse it. I don't know if it's the same for other reusable film developers.
I have 2 questions for your next Q&A:
Which enlarger lens do you use?
Have you ever used orthochromatic film? (Apparently it's best for landscapes rather than portraits so might not be suitable for your work.)
Really good job, Mike
Thank you! 🦋
yoooo Draco your cat looks like hes straight up out of a Miyazaki animation film. Surreal. What a beautiful cat.
Awe thanks!! ❤
Patterson are a UK compony
I didn’t know. Thanks!
Random question but do you ever do stand developing or semi-stand (something like 1+100 Rodinal for an hour or so)?
I’ve never tried! Do you recommend it? I’ll look into it. Thanks!
awesome, vivianna!
Thank you! 🦋 I’m glad you liked the video ☺️.
There is not very much idea to use stop bath if you rinse the film before using it. Thhe very idea of stop bath is stopping the developing at the exact moment. If you eash before, it is just a waste of time, as you already stopped it with water, but not immediately.
I'm doing a darkroom too and been following you on Instagram for quite a while. Look forward to many more videos and let me know if someday you travel to Japan 👋
That’s awesome! Printing in the darkroom is just the best 💫. I hope you love it! And Japan has always been on our bucket list!
