  • Recently I have been producing forged steel and hammered copper coffee scoops for my website. Here is a video showing most of the process I go through to form the copper sheet into the bowl for the scoop.

This goes nicely with a 16yr Lagavulin... plus the hammering annoys everyone, clears out the room. Equals piece and quiet. Cheers to you and yours!

I've never worked metal before outside of auto body, but this is fascinating and I subscribed 🤙🏼

I don’t have a stake, I’ll have to make, of get one. I made our copper fruit bow using an oak stump, a portion of 20oz copper, and a pvc hammer..
    Thanks for the vid.

you can find your stake by railroad tracks . They have bolts laying about with the exact size and shape as his stake

    Handsome work!
Search on RUclips for how to make and use a tucking fork - it's used in auto and motorcycle body sheet metal forming.
I suspect you could get the initial bowl formed more efficiently using this technique.

Good work! I've been thinking of making these as well for Christmas gifts. I imagine if the copper disc was annealed first it would be easier to shape. It would re-harden the more it's hammered. For an 'anvil', I was thinking of maybe using a trailer hitch ball held fast in a vise (except they are flat on top). Hmmm, maybe a large diameter ball bearing which is then welded to a bolt...

The copper sheet I use is annealed to start. I dont anneal during the process because the sheet is only 0.032" so I want it to work harden and make a stiff bowl.

What gauge copper, do you use to make the bowl? Thanks. That stake is very cool.

    That looks great.
After you hammered it on the anvil the last time why did you go back to the stump? To deepen the bowl a little more?

What thickness or weight of copper is being used here? Just became #667 subscriber.
