    Gorgeous work! I'm a huge fan of the A&C aesthetic so I was all in from the beginning. I just found a couple sheets of copper in a bin I forgot I had and I'm thinking about trying my hand at something. No idea what, and I hate to waste the copper on a learning project, so I might opt for something like thin sheetmetal they use for flashing around doors and windows.

    Hello, can you explain the riveting piece of copper 13:40 and the tool you use in the vise, is that something you made to give it the spherical look when hammered? Also, the small pieces of copper you are using to fill that hole after being drilled, do you create those small pieces of copper yourself by cutting out of a sheet of copper?

  • @xvideodventurer4826

    I have a suggestion, how about utilizing a handheld shear to remove the bulk of material, then use your jeweler's hack saw for the tight corners. For pieces like 5:44 to save blades & make it easier?

    • @lukemarshall4240
      @lukemarshall4240  3 года назад +2

      The material is slightly too thick to get an accurate cut with hand shears. I find it easier in this case to just cut it with the jewelers saw, less cleanup.

      @@lukemarshall4240 Maybe opt for a scroll saw if you want to speed things up. Copper is fairly soft so it should cut through with little issues, provided you use the proper blade and cutting speed of course. I've seen people cut up 3/16" brass on scroll saws, but I've never had the patience to even try that.

    • @hokepoke3540
      @hokepoke3540 3 года назад +1

      @@ironfox2778 If you use good quality saw blades it is not slow by hand. I have a brand new scroll saw that has been used 2 or 3 times in the past 30 years. Wish I had not wasted the money.

    • @lukemarshall4240
      @lukemarshall4240  3 года назад +1

      You can’t beat the accuracy of a hand saw. It’s easy to make a mistake with a scroll saw then you have to start over from scratch. It does sometimes work for less complex cuts though.
