For the latest GRAMMY Rewind, watch a brunette Madonna take home Best Pop Album for the 1998 album. She accepts the award rocking a dramatic red kimono-sleeved dress and fierce red lips, along with producer William Orbit and mixer/engineer David Reitzas. Marking her successful entrance into the dance music space, title track also earned her GRAMMYs for Best Dance Recording and Best Music Video.

I never get the album. To me 80s Madonna is the best. But I guess it is kinda revolutionary. Bcoz she took a big risk to popularize EDM, which at the time was only sung by one hit wonder kinda singer and later pave the way for 00s act who went for EDM

All the vocal trainings in Evita paid off in this album. Her range and pitch improved big time!
One of my top 10 albums of all time. It inspired me when I was a music major to dance and use music to deal with depression and isolation in college. Now at 40 I realized that when you are compassionate & spiritually at peace with yourself you will always feel connected and never alone. 🙏

Can you believe that's her actual real hair? Yes, Madonna in the 80s and 90s actually made efforts to come up with cool hairstyles for every album. And it was always her real hair. Unfortunately today, this sexist and prejudiced award ignores Madonna. They did not nominate MadameX in the "Best Pop Album" or "Album of the Year" categories. Much injustice what they do with Madonna. Videos of "dark ballett" or "god control" deserved to be nominated for "video of the year" but the grammy equals mtv boycott and injustice of legendary artists and only nominates and rewards new chart artists.

In fact it has aged like a fine wine and remains not just HER best album, but one of THE best albums, period. A real musical journey of spectacular beauty, depth, and intelligence.
The late 90s really was an excellent, exciting and eclectic time for popular music accross all the genres. I wish I could go back and do it all again!

The TIME always was the best friend for Madonna because her legacy and albums were recognized as cult albums with the years, like "Erotica" (1992), or Confessions (2005), "Like a Prayer" (1989) etc.
The best ones hardly win or even get nominated for Grammys. This is a well worth win for Madonna. Ray Of Light is a masterpiece.
