Aunty Mama Sister Whitney!
This was the year where the Grammys got it correct. This album was and still is a gem.
“the miseducation of lauryn hill” is timeless and the name of the album is iconic. If Ms. Hill never records another album this will stand the test of time.
uah. grammy was on crack with whitney that year. shania should have won. you trippin. shania sold a lot more
@@donjoevillacorta2790 it’s not about sales it’s about the better album and Miseducation was so much better
@@donjoevillacorta2790 this is why i like Grammy. The number of selling is not the most important thing, because art is not about number

So beautiful how Whitney was, sincerely, excited for her!!! She made sure the audience gave love!! ❤️
She was high as a kite
@@moomoo4228 first off, did you see her take a hit before this footage? Secondly, high people also have emotions right?? Let's respect the legends. We all have our habits and addictions.
Despite her reputation there are so many artists who said that Whitney was very supportive and kind to them!
yes, yes she was excited coke, coke, coke, coke
@@andyd3447 Thank you for being someone who recognized that. No matter her flaws and faults she showed love and support to other artists. She seemed genuinely happy for her. So many people don’t show that much excitement for other artists.🤷🏾♀️
Whitney was really a beautiful person. She always supported and lifted up others singers without jealousy. Two beautiful queens from Newark!! Lauryn Hill deserved that Grammy 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Whitney is that auntie we all wanna have.
God bless her and I miss her so much.
Same.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Boi i miss Whitney so bad
Stop calling them aunties. Like got damn! She’s not your aunty. Y’all want black women to be a part of the mammie troupe so badly.
STILL one of the greatest albums of all time. NOT ONE SKIP.
To this day, she is still the only female artist to be the sole producer on an Album of the Year win. Let that sink in and put some respect on this woman’s name.
just goes to show how underrepresented woman are in the industry
She wasn’t the sole producer
can’t produce anything without a vision which is the most important part
no matter what, people would find a way to take something away from her
@@redrockballa I love lauryn, I also know people who worked directly with lauryn in the studio while she was making miseducation. It wasn’t pretty and she was controlling and didn’t give credit to those who deserved it
You want a real female sole producer album who was nominated for album of the year ? Look up Paula Cole’s This Fire
Whitney in a lane of her own, ALWAYS made sure to support and uplift her little sisters in the industry! Never a hater! RIP legend 💜

Y'all have to understand, only THREE black woman have won this award. First Natalie, then Whitney, and lastly Lauryn. First hip hop album to do so. For those who said Whitney did too much need to chill because if this was to happen today, we'd have the same reaction
It might be a rarity but still Whitney looked like she had a stroke 😂❤
The next one should've been SZA in the 2024 ceremony, but they decided to gave it to Taylor Swift😒

@HarleyChristo Her music doesn't compare to Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Lauryn wrote and produced, Beyonce can't write music then wants credit lol....
@@jesuswilljudge7296 lol you trying to justify but Beyonce is bigger than MJ, miseducation is absolutely perfect but 20 years later bey defined the music industry. before and after her
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, a true masterpiece
she made history winning this award. truly irreplicable. one of the craziest nights in grammy history
When quality actually mattered
whitney always openly cheered and supported up and coming artists, especially black women. never felt threatened and always encouraged them to be great. rip to a real queen.
For kids who keep typing nonsense. The album "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" is the first hip-hop album to go diamond twice. The other one is Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem. Both albums have sold more than 20 million copies. That is how serious this lady was as a hip-hop artist. All these mainstream legends like Jay Z, Nas, Kanye etc have never sold more than 5 million copies of a single album. Don't even talk about Nicki, she does not compare to Lauryn Hill from any angle.
Like fr tho, these garbz doesn't put enough respect on Ms. Lauryn Hill's name. And Ms. Lauryn can write and produce a HIT on her OWN without the help of bunch of songwriters.
it’s her only solo album. it why it’s sold over and over. but tbh Lauryn’s a legend
I agree that this album stands alone. It’s lyrically genius and she is very talented. However just clarifying, the album has only gone Diamond once in the U.S. it has sold 20 million units but this is worldwide. Still a beautifully put together album and not taking any of its successes away.
Well said
Yeap only Lauryn, pac, nelly, 50, Eminem went diamond 💯
And the fellow nominees were:
Shania Twain for Come On Over
Sheryl Crow for the Globe Sessions
Madonna for Ray of Light, and
Garbage for Version 2.0.

Lauryn so lucky she got to hold so tight onto Whitney. What a legend passing a torch…
Whitney was a very very warming person always supported others and very gracious just a beautiful soul!!!
The fact that Whitney and Lauryn share a common bond with their stumping grounds and Lauryn grew up on Whitney’s catalog makes this moment wholesome than you can imagine. Long live Whitney Houston, and keep inspiring generations, Lauryn Hill! ❤️

Thanks a lot for these clips. When younger, we used to get a live and free broadcast and my dad had the habit of recording the award shows. Then, we relocate where such free broadcasts was something foreign so we lost touch for a decade or more of what was going on. We appreciate a lot these clips as you can imagine.
Who are these people behind her except from Sting and Whitney of course.
It's not a new thing though many old clips are uploaded online to be accessible
Damn, she looks beautiful here. 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' is a great album. So many hits that are still in rotation for me today.
Whitney in the back commenting on every sentence PLSSS 🤣🥰😘
Lmaoooo. Like she in church 😂😂. She was just too damn happy.
Unpopular opinion the album wasn’t a rap album she sang more than half of it, even Grammys knew it. It was nominated for r&b album
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
@@stylerxo3654 it was both in my opinion
@@theofficialVEVOformu but it was still a rap album at the end of the day. Like, if we’re calling Drake’s music “rap”, seeing as he gets nominated in this category, then Ms. Hill’s album is definitely a rap album. That’s just facts.
Still goes HARD!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Lauryn Hill is so talented and she’s got great music and she’s one of my music female singers, rappers and music artists and music inspirations!!! ❤😊❤❤😊❤
Awww Whitney tightly hugging Lauryn so cute 🥰
“Amen! Amen!” Yes Whitney! 😂💕
I remember this.. That album is legendary. Like no other album that has ever been released. A complete once in a lifetime masterpiece.
Album of the decade, if you ask me. This album legit help shape my character as a pre teen/ teenage. Her and Michael started the “Grammy sweep” trend, for solo artist. Whitney was giving very “Jersey Stand Up”, bit much, but well deserved. Carry on Whitney!!!! 😀😄❤️
Whitney was so full of real energy and excitement. She was so happy for Lauryn.
She’s gorgeous 😍
Greatest album of all time.
Lauryn Hill u beautiful human being!

Historical album
I love this so much! So proud of Lauryn and the love she received from Whitney too! So amazing
Baby Whitney was so happy
Every time I see this clip or listen to that legendary album, it made me feel soooo happy, sad and nostalgic. Seeing a Lauryn so young, full of talent and dreams in 1999, after making one of the best albums of all time, when she had the whole industry in her hands and out of a sudden just disappear from the scene... I wish she could have made more songs in the next two or three years and listen to that music, but those years are gone now and we will never know what it could have been :(
Whitney was fantastic. She knew how big this was
Lauryn and Whitney's musical legacies are ones for the history book.
