- In this video we follow route 5 of the national cycle network from Long Marston, through Milcote and into Stratford-upon-Avon using the Greenway. This route follows the old Honeybourne Line that ran from Cheltenham to Honeybourne and onto Stratford. We pass the old Milcote station, Chamber crossing halt and the Stratford race course platform. We have lunch at the lovely Bobbys cafe and head back.

Another cracking video !! The Greenway must be for all - how a mobility scooter or wheelchair user would get through the barriers is beyond me. In Kendall I saw many wheelchair users, and electric trikes on the old railway track. The punishment for Motorcyclists on these routes, and the will of the authorities to catch and stop them, is sadly lacking . It’s so lovely to see a family out enjoying the day - well done !!
Thank you for your kind comment. The barriers are a real shame, hopefully the council will see sense and remove them at some point. Thanks for watching!
Great video and appreciated your wise observations. Unfortunately since you filmed this they’ve re-surfaced it with loose pebbles - completely unsuitable and dangerous for family cycling.
It would be interesting if you revisited soon and filmed how you and your family coped on the new surface. It’s as bizarre as having those blocks/barriers in the way.
I might have to check it out again, doesn’t good if they have not made the surface suitable for bikes. Maybe they are trying to discourage cyclists. Thanks for watching!
I learned today that the pebbles have so far only been put down on the stretch between the two railway carriage cafes. Hopefully they’ll leave the stretch from Long Marston to Milcote station as it is.
The sleepers at the access points are for horses to step over a to stop motorbikes and yobos on those over powered ebikes called surrons
Unfortunately they don’t work, we were passed by a motorbike while at the cafe. They sadly make access for those less able or with kids extremely difficult. My local greenway has no barriers like this, they really don’t need to be there. Thanks for watching!
The barriers would make it impossible for me to get over or through in my wheelchair with powered add-on. I have done thousands of miles on the NCN and it is so frustrating and even dangerous to have to bypass sections of the network by using busy roads.
For me it’s very frustrating but I was lucky this time to have someone to help me with the trailer, so I was able to get through. It’s a massive shame, and plain wrong, that there are people who are blocked from using these paths. Thanks for watching!
Council tossers
I don't like that new stuff they have put down last week
I’m told it’s closed this week for them to finish the resurfacing, might not be the final surface? Thanks for watching!
@@cyclingn8 yep it's finished now, I was on it yesterday, quite a slow surface and a bit slippy, but probably be better in a few months
I will have to take another trip down there to check it out. Cheers for the update!
