Good idea. I am about to make a money belt and was thinking of doing basically the same thing instead of stitching onto the belt itself. My thought was that, with the added flexibility of the money belt, it would be better to have the loops on a thicker, stiffer strip of leather that also sets the cartridges away a bit more. Also, love your shop setup! Thank you!

Nice video and a good way to do cartridge loops. That's what we call a full woven loop. Semi-woven you skip slots so you have a space but then the cartridge sits tight against the belt like a stitched loop. Both styles have been in use since the advent of cartridge belts.
Thank you for the video! I haven't made one of these yet but a question I have is say you have one of these with 6 loops. If you take 3 of the cartridges out, what keeps the slack from the 3 empty loops from going back behind the leather and loosening the loops for the next cartridge in line and then it could fall out? Is this a problem that happens? I was thinking a solution could be once you have the loop material in place and riveted down with cartridges in place run a line of glue on the back where the material goes in and comes back in from the slot so that each one is self contained but not sure if that would work.
Thank you for watching Jason and no that doesn't happen. With all due respect but you are trying to solve an issue that doesn't exist. Like you say, you haven't done one of these, but we have made hundreds of belts and holsters with these 3D cartridge loops on them and no they don't loosen or fall behind the leather. The reason for this is, the start and end are held by chicago screws or rivets when manufacturing it, and the loops are formed around the cartridges (minute 8:50 on) and then hold themselves in place by friction.
thanks for watching @Specs. No can't upload a template but it's not difficult to make, it's just from cardboard and you can decide how far apart you want the loops and how many you want.

I have terrible luck doing loops 😢
sorry to hear that Thomas, like most things, it needs a lot of practice, don't give up.

Thank you for the to to use a scrap piece of leather when punching holes. I have a C.S. Osborne punch on the way from Amazon so this was a timely tip.

First thank you for the great videos. Have a question. What size oval punch and strap would you use for 38/357 cartridge loops?
Thank you for watching Jason, Mark uses a 1" punch and a 1" wide strap.
Do you build belts for old Straight wall sharp casings 50-140

Great video, thanks!
What ounce do you use for rifle cuff and cartridge loops?
Thanks for watching @B K, for the butt wraps we use 4-5 oz for some and 6-7 oz for others. The cartridge loops are from 2-3 oz
How far apart would the holes be for a 357 mag
@Jacob Waishes sorry I didn't see this comment until today for some reason. You use the cartridge to determine how far apart the wholes should be.
Works great I’ve been doing it for years
