It's great to see this review from you, especially with the real use of the cockpit container that I would also like to fly with. I was searching for a harness that is light and compact enough for a hike and fly but durable, preferably with fairing, and has a possibility to use with two reserves. Voila! Gin X-Lite seemed like my dreams came true :) Then I heard one of my friends bought it and had the chance to try the M size even though I am 1,87 meters and 80 kg... Then my dreams started to fall apart a little bit :( Now I also see that you had a similar problem as well... As far as I could understand from your review with my limited French, you had the problem of having the cocoon too long for the size... It is also visible that the sides of the cocoon were not stretched well and looked wrinkly at 4:20 . It was what I experienced as well. I tried the M size that cocoon set to almost the shortest possible setup, and I couldn't believe that the leg part is perfect for me but the seat and the back parts are definitely too small... It's impossible for me to use the M size but I am afraid that if I buy the L the cocoon will probably be too long. I believe if everyone has the same problem this is a design mistake. I don't know if I will have a chance to find and try an L size here in Turkey but I am sure I won't buy it without trying it and making sure the cocoon and the other parts are fitting well. Other criticisms on my part would be the ridiculously small side pockets openings and weirdly shaped, square, and small camel bag pocket. Also, since they claim it to be a hike and fly harness, it would be super cool to see a dedicated trekking pole storage. Another point would be the combination of the smallish footplate and the lack of protection at the bottom of the cocoon, especially at the neoprene parts. I believe in the long term there will be a serious deformation especially if you wear boots or solid shoes for hiking and safer landings. And last but not least, I don't know if it is my lack of ability to find it but I couldn't find the exact measurement of the harness in different sizes. I don't know how much longer the back of the harness in L size compared to the M, or how much wider the seat is etc... If only I had a chance to create a Frankenstein Harness from different brands/models... :(
I got the normal weight Genie lite 3 in large and bought a pad for the front! It makes it perfect. Like you I found the medium too small at the top and the large was good at the top but too long. The pad is about 100mm so fixes that length. It just adds a bit of bulkiness to the packing and bumps around my feet during launch, like a big poo lol. But when I'm in the air it's perfect. If I had time I'd take it to a shop and get the coccoon shortened but in the end the extension pad works fine and I'm used to it now. But yes, try it, or try the normal weight Genie lite 3 because so far as I can see they're exactly the same except for the materials and the thickness of the protector. It should be enough to be able to decide anyway.
